"We have eaten here loads, especially for breakfast which are the best, freshest food cooked by far. We recently ate our evening meal here. It was a spur of the moment idea so we hadn't pre booked, but the staff were more than welcoming. Even though there were quite a few families eating there already, the staff were more than willing to show the 4 of us to our table. The place itself and our table was lovely and clean. We were given menus on arrival and after we sat, we were offered drinks while we chose what we wanted to eat. I'm don't have a very big appetite so I was glad to see there was a menu for kids/OAP's or those with a small appetite which you don't see a lot of. Our daughter is a type 1 diabetic and they were more than willing to cater for her needs. A lovely friendly waitress brought our drinks, all glasses were clean. My husband ordered the gammon from the main menu which was huge and he enjoyed every bit of it. My son ordered the lasagne from the main menu which he enjoyed and there was plenty of food on his plate both dishes came with chips and salad. My daughter abd I ordered off the small menu but even then there was plenty of food for the price, you definitely get a lot of food for your money. Our waitress Keira brought over our food and we were shown where the condiments were. She was friendly and helpful as was the other waitress. Cutlery was individually wrapped in napkins and I noted that all of our cutlery was clean and I'm picky and I do always check that everything we eat or drink from is spotless. And here everything was spotlessly clean. As we were enjoying our food the atmosphere was nice and light. With nice views out of the windows. Waitresses were on the ball collecting empty glasses and cleaning the tables. Even the outside tables which are on a patio area that overlooks the river Severn were all spotlessly clean. We enjoyed every bit of our food, which was all cooked to perfection. I did note that all the staff were wearing facemasks and wearing hair nets so no wonder this place gets a 5* food hygiene rating. We will definitely be back soon now that restrictions for covid have lifted. I highly recommend this place to couples or families looking for a good meal in a clean nice atmosphere. Where all the staff are friendly and helpful. We had expected to pay much more for our meals including drinks so with the money we saved we left as a tip for the staff which was highly deserved. We will be back soon. Thank you for everything, you guys were the best."

The Swan Taphouse

"Where do I Start. First of all the room was grimy and tired. Everything really could of done with a good deep clean and a new lick of paint. The description on the The Swan Taphouse says open till late and doesn't specify an actual time , but we were informed they were open till twelve at night when we arrived. So there was a consent noise outside the window with the beer garden being directly below. The key we were given was bent and we were instructed to forcefully yank the key out of its lock if it wouldn't come out. The bath only gave out Luke warm water and the water pressure was low. Bed side lights barley worked with the one bulb flickering and some of the plug sockets weren't working. The one member of staff we saw was generally lovely but that was the only member of staff we saw. Now we should of learned from the state of the room that the food wouldn't be up to scratch but we were tired and hungry so we thought we would risk it. I know, that's on us! We waited an hour for our food and it arrived cold and bland, surprising really when there was only around 8 people there. Now for the breakfast, when booking at the The swan taphouse you would of thought the breakfast would be served at the place you paid to stay in right? Wrong! It was served at a different pub and that wasn't mentioned when booking the room! There was nobody there in the morning to ask you about your stay as a member of there staff doesn't start till 12pm. We could of questioned it after arriving that day but with so much wrong with the room we dreaded to think what the rest of the rooms were like."

"I visited Jenko's just before Christmas. Being a log cabin it looked great both inside and out. It had a good sized carpark too. The bar was the first area I visited, and to be honest it was far too small and felt extremely cramped. Being such a small room it was a bad idea to let people sit around the bar on stalls, this just made a very cramped room even more cramped! There was only about 2-3ft between the wall and the bar stools! Having people sitting around the bar made ordering drinks difficult too. Luckily, the eating area was much better. A small room contained THREE tables, one table had a range of raw meat, fish and vegetable ingredients that you put into a small stainless steel bowl using tongs. The tips of the tongs were quite small like chop-sticks which made it difficult to pick up some foods. Each tub of ingredients had their own set of tongs too, however there was nothing to stop people using tongs from the seafood tub to pick up meat or something else. Cross contamination could be possible, so this method of eating is not advised if you have allergies. On the second table was a range of herbs, spices and sauces. So you could create a range of different flavours. However, most of the foods you could create with the available ingredients would be curry or chilli based. I could not see anything like creams, yogurt, coconut, or meat stocks on the table. You could certainly create nice tasting food though, even without ANY cooking knowledge! On the third table was three large heated tubs of pasta, rice or noodles. Basically, the idea of Jenkos is to allow customers to choose whatever raw ingredients they want, which will then be cooked by the two chefs on a large cast-iron hotplate. You hand the chef your bowl of ingredients which he tips onto the hotplate, as it cooks it is slowly moved clockwise around the table, with the next customers ingredients being added soon after. Each customers meal is divided by two long pieces of wood. Again, as one customers meal is soon cooked on exactly the same area of the hotplate as the previous meal (due to rotation), cross contamination could be possible. Once your meal reaches the end of the hotplate it is fully cooked and handed back to you on a plate. You can then add either pasta, rice or noodles on the third table. As it was all-you-can-eat when I visited, customers can also go through the same process again, creating something different each time. This was more fun than eating the food!!! So Jenko's is certainly different to most restaurants, and I recommend it. But improvements could be made to make it even better, including customer communication via Facebook or email. I NEVER got ANY replies to several messages. Including BACON in the ingredients would be good too"
