"fantastic dinner here. the staff is so friendly and helpful and especially friendly and attentive to the children and dogs in the family! they even have a wall of the rest of the dog visitors! the food was also amazing! belly pork was so tasty and the distinctive lamb cake was also a hit! beautiful evening here. the perfect place with magnificent views of the sea in a cozy and friendly environment. in summer we are also happy for drinks in the garden! cannot recommend enough!"

"Wow.! !!!, service was friendly and helpful, the restaurant was very very nice, thai tables and chairs set out to look very traditional. Even the cutlery made you feel you were in Thailand.! Now, the food, VERY high standard.! The meats were tender and nicely cooked, they clearly use high quality ingredients, the sauces and presentation were extremely good, very tasty and attractive to the eye. "The BEST Indian food I have ever had! I've tried Indian curry from high-end restaurants in London and all over Essex, but House of Spice is the best by far. In fact, last year I called them just to express how delicious the takeaway was that I picked up from them. Once again, during our holiday on the island, we enjoyed an outstanding takeaway. To top it all off, the staff are always incredibly friendly. We constantly crave House of Spice when we return to the mainland and look forward to ordering from them again. I give it a perfect 5-star rating across the board: Food: 5, Service: 5, Atmosphere: 5."

"Huge portion of fish and chips! Can't fault them there. It was cooked to perfection. They were able to seat us without a reservation as we were turned away by the place opposite. The vibe is very much old-skool country pub, which I really liked. Walls painted in British racing green with Tiffany style lamps. Original beamed ceilings. "We've been coming to the happy haddock for a lot of years. There are a few negative reviews which worried me, but I wasn't disappointed, I'd ordered online and our food was ready just after I arrived. Really tasty fish and chips, The best you can get. They don't allow you to have plated food inside like the old days which I guess is down to staffing, but at least you can grab a chair now whilst you're orders being cooked! Food: 5"

"This restaurant is now called the House of Spice.Not sure if it's new management but we happened on it just last Saturday as we were looking for a meal after going to the theatre in Shanklin. Before the performance we popped in to the restaurant to see whether we needed to book for later but were advised not to bother just to turn up. We arrived around 9.45 and the place was packed.Saying that we didn't wait long to be shown to a table. After that it all went a bit downhill.It took ages to get a drink and we had to keep asking for napkins,cutlery etc.We finally ordered the main meal at 10.30. The food was great. All the better cos we were starving ! The chicken was excellent and the vegetable dishes very tasty. It just seemed as though on this busy bank holiday weekend with an F A cup celebrating pub next door they just weren't over organised. The staff need to work out who is doing what and the food will advertise the place for them."

"We really enjoyed our meal here The king prawn skewer in particular was a lovely surprise, although a few more vegetables would have been welcome. Lasagna was tasty with accompanying salad. It was a busy Thursday night, so we were lucky to get in despite our booking not being found. Enjoyable meal overall Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner"

"As a family of four, we came in when only a few people were already in the restaurant. We ordered drinks which came up smaller than expected and were not as well described on the menu as they could have been (ie. whether in a small, medium or large glass or other sizing). Then once we ordered, the service was very slow with very little communication as to the status of the meals nor attentiveness throughout. After a long waiting period, we had to ask for an update and eventhough the staff and chef were no distance apart they could not provide an estimated time of serving and gave us a poor reply regardless. However, eventually when the food came up, it was delicious aside from the blue cheese salad which caused one of our family to feel very unwell to the point of nearly being sick. I hope that this is an isolated case but we will not be returning after this experience. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £70–80 Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1"

"I was really excited to visit today for some pie and mash, but it turned out to be a disappointment! The pie seemed to have been microwaved and was burnt before that. It was flavorless and rubbery. The menu promised authentic pie and mash liquor, but what I received was more like pie, smashed potatoes, and maybe a trace of liquor. I felt like I wasted my £8.95. I left feeling hungry and frustrated. I spoke to the waiter about my experience, but no refund was offered. I certainly won't be recommending this place or returning."
