"Luca saved the dayI arrived at this McDonald’s late (gone after a long day. I made a quick order at the touch screen; two large fries and one bottle of water. Afterwards, I was called to the front desk and informed that all of the ‘normal sized’ bottles of water were unavailable and they only had ‘baby sized bottles’. So I (quite reasonably) requested two baby sized bottles (the equivalent to one normal sized bottle), to which the member of staff kindly agreed. However, I was informed shortly thereafter that it was not possible to have two baby sized bottles. So despite paying for one ‘normal sized’ bottle, I would have to settle for only half of the water I was paying for. This really didn’t seem fair and even a few other punters remarked as much, but I begrudgingly agreed as I didn’t want to complain and cause a scene. A few minutes later, I was called back to the desk and told by a different member of staff (obviously unaware of the conversation I’d already had) that they were out of normal bottled water so I would have to have a small bottle. Instinctively I asked “is it ok if I have two of them then?” Again, the staff member (Luca this time) kindly agreed. When Luca went to fetch the two bottles however, he was quickly on the receiving end of a telling off from his manager/supervisor. That’s when I had to step in and not only defend Luca, but politely argue for what I considered to be the correct course of action. “How is it fair”, I asked, “that I can pay for one full bottle but only get half?” The manager explained that the small bottles were strictly for happy meals only. By this point, I thankfully had the backing of an enthusiastic crowd of hungry diners, all keen on seeing justice done in the form of TWO baby bottles rather than one. The manager eventually (albeit reluctantly) agreed to my request and I walked into the streets satisfied with the outcome, ready to enter the sewers and fight crime. The real hero of this story is Luca (I hope I’ve spelt his name correctly). His splendid customer service saved the night. McDonald’s, please promote him soon; he’s a keeper!"

"Thank you for the hospitality that I received when visiting your Media City restaurant last Friday for a pre-theatre meal. Food and Menu There is a simple menu that includes all the Italian and American classics that people love to eat. The choices are limited however it does cater for a range of diners from the Meat lover to the Vegetarian. In the Starters there is a Garlic Pizza Bread that is tasty with a great Garlic aroma. There is also American Style Nachos with Jalapeños and all the sauces to dip into. In addition, there is Calamari, Ribs and the Chicken Crunch too. In the Mains there is a great selection of Pizzas with good flavours. There are also additional toppings that you can add on for an extra charge. There is also a decent variety of Steak, Pasta, and Salad dishes for those that fancy them too. For the Burger fan there are some Beef Burgers and a Chicken Fillet one too. There is also a wide variety of sides that are a great addition to your meal from Chips, Sweet Potato Fries to Onion Rings and Garlic Bread too. For those with a sweet tooth then there is a selection of popular Desserts including the Warm Chocolate Brownie, Cheesecake and, Tiramisu that is creamy and indulgent to eat. If you like cold Desserts then there is Ice Cream and the Knicker Bocker Glory. For the Starters the Garlic Pizza Bread was tasty and moorish. It was soft in the middle with a bite on the edges. It was yummy. The Calamari was pleasant to eat but could have been cooked more as it was slightly rubbery to eat. For the Mains the Chicken Fillet Burger was perfectly cooked and it was beautifully presented. It was tasty and heart-warming to eat. The Salad and the Mayonnaise added more flavour. The Sweet Potato Fries were comforting to eat. They were crispy on the outside with soft fluffy Potato on the inside. I love how they are presented in a small pan dish. Cute. The Onion Rings were scrumptious. Their crispy batter was great on the outside with soft Onion pieces inside. It was a heart pleaser. For Dessert the Chocolate Brownie and Ice Cream was heavenly to eat. The Brownie was cooked superbly. It was not hard to eat but it was runny with gooey and indulgent Chocolate. Yum. The Ice Cream was great too as it cut through the richness of the Chocolate adding texture. It was also stunning in presentation in which the Chocolate Brownie is in the middle of the plate with a lovely scoop of Ice Cream on top. Drinks They have a good selection of soft drinks which include all the popular ones to have. There is also a small variety of juices on offer too. However they do not serve non-alcoholic Mocktails. Service The service was good. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and accommodating. She gave us the time to choose our dishes. Her suggestions for food were spot on. It was good that the food came out pretty quickly and it was beautifully presented. Lighting and Access The lighting at this restaurant was pretty bright which allows for an enjoyable meal for most people including those with visual impairments. Entry to this restaurant is at the Holiday Inn Hotel to which there is a small step to enter into the building. Once inside there are stairs and lifts to get to the Mezzazine floor. This is where you will find the restaurant. There are no stairs inside as it is on one level. Furniture The furniture here is brilliant. I love the big tables which are spacious. The chairs are big and are comfortable to sit on. This gives a relaxed ambiance so that you can dine in style. Parking Parking is available at the Quayside Media City UK multi-storey car park (formerly The Lowry). If you are a Blue Badge holder then you will get 4 free hours when stamping your ticket. This takes effect from the time of arrival. Alternatively you can park at the Media City multi-storey which is closer to the venue. Pricing The pricing of the dishes at this restaurant are mid- range. However it is worth visiting once a while especially if the waiters are good, the food is tasty and that it is beautifully presented. If you love to eat Italian and American food within a relaxed atmosphere then head down to your local Marco’s."

"My wife and I arrived at 21.30 on 30th May 2019 with closure time of 23.00 and was greeted with a terrible attitude by the waiter of “we are closing soon”! We persevered and entered as it our local restaurant and have have visited many times. We felt uneasy as the waiter in question was slamming the food trolley around (when we noticed him serving other people) the restaurant and was clearly not feeling relaxed or happy. After 10 minutes or so we asked the waiter if we could order drinks and it felt awkward. You know, like you’d asked someone to brew up for you....that you didn’t know! We were served with a big dose of what felt like insincerity’. After a while, I called the waiter over and asked him if there was a problem as it stated on google the restaurant-was open until 11pm. He said there was as he agreed with his boss they would work until 10pm! He said it was Ramadan and they agreed to work until 10pm. We did not know this as there was no signage stating it or info online and why should it make a difference? We understand the fasting commitment but did not envisage it having an impact on our Indian meal at our lovely, lovely cal restaurant. We told the waiter, we felt he had been very rude to us and we reminded him we were locals and had celebrations with them on New Year’s Eve 2018 as well as additional visits thereafter! He just said “it’s Ramadan and I have not been banging my service trolley, “...etc. By this time we felt he had lost the plot and we witnessed him asking the entire restaurant “ Have I been Awkward to anyone or been banging around with my trolley!” We were so embarrassed.....as you can imagine, we told him so and left the restaurant promptly. Terrible experience! My wife is a nurse and works with all people 24/7, without issue. Honestly, it was so awful for us to experience. Unimaginable in fact, and as frequent visitors we ask the Management to investigate and kindly let us know the outcome and reassure us to prevent recurrence at anytime in the future. Thank you."
