"I booked a table for for Saturday, October, to celebrate my birthday. I had phone conversations with staff beforehand, one to confirm the booking and one to correct their online confirmation, which stated that it was it was for people....At no point did anyone at the restaurant tell me that there was a time limit on the use of our table. I was very upset when, after one and three quarter hours and immediately after my birthday cake was delivered to the table, we were told that we had to leave as their were other customers who had been booked in for our table. We were not even given time to cut the cake. I protested and asked to speak to the manaager. She said that I had been told the time limit when I made the booking. No, I hadn't been told that and wouldn't have made the booking if i'd known. Oh, well I'd been told in a text which they sent me that morning. No, I wasn't and, as I haven't deleted the text, I can prove it. Oh well, there was a card on the table with that information. I didn't see it and in a ny case, it is no good telling us something when we arrive; if we didn't like the arrangement it would not have been feasible to relocate a party of on a Saturday night at the drop of a hat. The manageress seemed to be at a loss to know what to do, as she said that there were people already waiting. I suggested that she apologise to them and tell them that she should not have taken the booking from them at that time. However, I was so upset that I decided to leave, with my party, declining to pay a service charge, The sheer greed of these people who try and pack in a many bookings that they feel they can get away with, without any regard for their customers' satisfation, amazes me."

"After forking out a significant amount for this two-night stay, I couldn't help but feel that my investment was far from justified. The issues that arose during my visit left me deeply unsatisfied and questioning the value of my expenditure. The first night was marred by the room lock malfunctioning, which not only posed a security concern but also led to considerable inconvenience. Despite my immediate report of the problem, the promised resolution for the next day failed to materialize, leaving me with a sense of neglect and frustration. What's more, my dismay continued into the second day as the room remained untouched by housekeeping. A clean and tidy environment is a fundamental expectation in any hotel, and the neglect in this regard was not only disappointing but also unhygienic. It's disheartening to say that after this experience, I can't help but feel that the hotel did not meet even the most basic standards of service and accommodation. Given the substantial financial commitment I made for this stay, I expected much more in terms of both functionality and cleanliness. It's clear that improvements are needed in various aspects of the hotel's operations to ensure that future guests don't endure the same letdown that I did. Very disappointed and disgusted. No way is it a 4 star hotel I personally would consider it not even worth one star. Most of the staff apart from one individual were very unhelpful and disdainful. Room was not cleaned after our first night. Sensor on the door was not working resulting in multiple visits to reception."

Lovely looking flowers hang from the outside as you woukd expect, there is lots of interesting pictures on the walls, especially as it's a Portsmouth Weather Spoons.... Pictures of famous people, such as Peter Sellers, who was born on the corner of castle Road, (above the Chinese takeaway.. less than 10 minutes walk... The pub is close to Southsea shops, the sea front.... most of the main amenities... The pub, is well worth a visit.. It has Free cloud WiFi access, multi refill hot drinks, The only draw back is the toilets, mens are quite smelly, the Gents cubicles really need looking after better sometimes the smell of toilets not being flushed, came make a person really feel sick, (so be careful, to breath through your slight open mouth..
