"We turned up, the previous place we booked were full and overbooked and didn't take us so we ended up last minute at Maldon Spice to our suprise! Party of 3 They had 2 tables left, asked if we booked, we said we hadn't, our fault, but still found the availability and space to sit us down and serve us, took our drink orders which came out immediately, ordered food came out within the space of 5-10 minuites, was attentive throughout the whole meal but not over bearing, best Indian food I've ever had, had the Tikka Mousala and the spice was just right, nice and creamy, I ate until I was full and still had a little bit of rice and Naan left on the plate, haven't been as fed well by a restaurant in ages, quality value and quality cooking I would give them 10 stars if I could, props to all the staff!"

The Kings Head

"Not long moved to the area. The Kings Head is in the next village. Had friends visiting so thought we’d book a table as it was a Saturday night. We drove into the village from the direction that we got to the car park first without driving past the pub, It was a bit difficult to navigate how to get inside. As there are a collection of barns and what looks like a disused dirty conservatory. There are no entry signs. We were just going to walk back to the car park entrance to enter from the street when we saw a member of staff. She told us to walk through the conservatory then through the restaurant and she would meet us a the bar. We were given a table in the window which had a lovely view but had a huge tv to the side of it which was really distracting. We ordered drinks at the bar and then went to collect menus as none on the table. We picked two different menus that had similar items on but presented very differently. The menu is not easy to read as it’s a huge choice all crammed onto one side of A4 paper. I’m Dyslexic which for me layout not being starters then a list, mains then a list and deserts then a list is really confusing. The layout is kind of newspaper style. Our order was taken and our starters arrived. The young lady serving us was very nice, smiley and relaxed. One of my friends is rather particular about certain things like minimal water being served from a closed bottle with an empty glass not being poured from a hose into the glass and delivered to the table. The young lady was very good at dealing with her. Even though she could not resolve the issue as the pub didn’t have any bottles of minimal water. My starter was kicking chicken wings which were delicious and melted off the bone. My main was beer battered haddock with chunky chips and a side portion of beer battered onion rings. Again delicious. I didn’t eat it all as the portions are a good size. I wanted to save room for dessert. I had the apple crumble with custard. Again delicious. I had a great evening and really enjoyed my food. I’ll definitely be going back again. Next time I will be mindful of who I’m taking as it’s not a brasserie type establishment that I thought it was."

"We went here at 12.15 on a Thursday lunch time. The place was very clean. It had a nice garden area outside. The food was lovely. The lady that served us was very accommodating and helpful. Will definitely go back. "The food was nice, the service, not so nice. The head waiter was walking round arrogantly, the young white guy who cleared our table, had a handful of dirty plates and was walking back to the kitchen and this guy literally shouldered him out of the way. I don't like that. We didn't even get asked if we wanted desert, and there was no offer of coffees etc, it was just like give us your £175 and leave. No free tipple for the girls or anything. Good food, average everything else. Disappointing as it could be so much better"

"We visited on a Sunday lunchtime in early August to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We had booked and were offered a table inside the restaurant (pub? which was all but empty while it was a nice day outside. We asked if we could be seated outside to be able to enjoy the weather and to watch the world go by. We were told very rudely If there 's a table out there then you can eat out there, but you can 't run a tab and you have to order at the bar . We did as we were told, trying to make light of the rudeness. To be fair, it was only one of the staff who had this unfortunate attitude. We ordered drinks at the bar and then our food There 's a 30 minute wait the rude server told us. Dressed Crab, Mussels, and a fish and chips. Turned out there were no mussels left, so we ordered another fish and chips. The food, when it arrive (not as long as 30 minutes was ok, but only ok. My mother 's fish and chips was overdone and dry. Mine was less well cooked, but still rather bland and fish was dry. The whole experience was rather disappointing. We cut our losses and left to eat an ice cream elsewhere. It would hurt any of the staff to crack a smile and perhaps a lesson in manners and customer service wouldn 't go amiss."

"I was very disappointed with the service I received last night. I picked up my Indian for a take away last night as I got home and opened my bag to feed my family it was apparent that the chicken tikka masala dish was in...fact another dish a spicy dish. I phoned up to let them no there was a mistake and very bluntly told that I didn’t order a masala an that I ordered a dish I’d never heard of before. Instead of being offered a refund Or offered an apology I was told I’d have to come back and swap it and make the 30 min round trip again which wasn’t an option again at that time of night. The situation should of been dealt with aLot more professionally seeing as I’d just spent £53 Of my hard earned money on a take away which one member of the family couldn’t eat. Needles to say I won’t be returning my custom"

"I ordered a takeaway from here and will say that it arrived very quickly however when it arrived one of the meals (pictured below) that is advertised as a £17.95 Tandoori mixed grill dish, had about 4 pieces in and when we phoned up giving them the benefit of the doubt and thinking there had been a mistake to then be told that the meal isn’t £17.95 on their menu and it’s the size it is because just eat discounted it. We proceeded to look at their menu which had the discount ‘40% off when you spend over £30’ (so it wasn’t just eat that had done it) and the meal we had ordered priced at £17.95. I am absolutely appalled that we have not only payed a ridiculous amount of money for the food we received but we were also lied to about the reasons behind it. I will definitely not be returning here and expect a refund as most of the food we got was also inedible and went in the bin."

"I 'll start with a positive the lady that served us was delightful. I didn 't catch her name but she was a little older. She was very friendly and couldn 't do enough for us. Unfortunately this is where the positivity ends. Having had 30+ years in the catering trade I understand that I may be a little more critical, however, it doesn 't take years of experience to notice what we saw here yesterday. I was more than a little shocked at some of your hygiene standards. On at least two occasions I saw a member of staff walking through the seating area with a bag of rubbish. Didn 't necessarily have an issue with this until they put the bag on the floor and then served a customer at the 'hatch ' with an ice cream cone. Absolutely no attempt made to clean their hands beforehand. Having been to the bin, they were more than happy to pick up a cornet to fill with ice cream. Also spotted one of your girls licking her finger ready to pick up a cornet. That 's just not on guys. Re food quality has anyone tasted your quiches lately? My homemade quiche lorraine had two pieces of bacon it was basically an unseasoned egg tart. Potatoes were slightly undercooked too. I will say that the leaf salad was lovely and fresh. Your vanilla ice cream that you serve with desserts is obviously a cheap soft scoop. Totally lowered the standard of the whole dessert. Please consider using an elevated option. You have a widely known reputation but I don 't believe this site is working to your brand standards. If it is, maybe this needs to reassessed."

"Silvanna court care home visited cricketers Arms today for lunch, the food was first class vince the owner was lovely made everyone welcome, we look forward to going again soon. Thankyou so much. "Oh my goodness, so wish we had read some of the earlier reviews before picking up a takeaway from this restaurant. Can honestly say this is the worst Indian takeaway we have ever eaten. So much salt in the chicken tikka masala and sag aloo it was difficult to eat more than a few mouthfuls. The portion of onion bhajees weighed a ton as dripping in oil and absolutely awful. Thought we’d try this restaurant for the first time and it will definitely be the last!"

"Have visited the OakHouse many times over the last few years and always really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Unfortunately the last few times it’s really gone downhill, with our last visit being a complete sham. The staff are extremely young and lack any form...of training or adult supervision. We ordered drinks and when they arrived one drink was not what we asked for, we didn’t mind as mistakes are made and it was no problem. I didn’t like the way the waitress served the drinks to our table with her fingers around the rim of every glass, that’s bad etiquette anyway let alone in these covid times, I don’t really want someone else’s fingers around the rim of my glass. We ordered our mains after a long wait for the waitress to return to our table, only for two meals to be brought out completely wrong and not what we ordered. We then had to wait another 30 minutes for the correct meals to be cooked whilst the other people at our table had to awkwardly eat their meals in front of the others who had no food. We had to repeatedly ask the staff how much longer the meals would be and was told 2 minutes each time which of course wasn’t the case. We then sat with our table full of finished plates and drinks for another 30 minutes waiting for someone to clear them and to be able to order more drinks and dessert, the staff are not forthcoming in checking things are ok or if you need anything else, you have to keep grabbing them when they are walking past in order to be served. We then ordered dessert and yes, two of those were served up wrong too. Just unbelievably bad service, the place isn’t exactly cheap and you don’t expect this sort of service here. We won’t be coming back any more."

"This pub is so beautiful and had a wonderful atmosphere, we did go during the rugby so was very busy but the staff was still smiling and making sure everyone needs were met. With the food I was really shocked they had a vegan menu which was huge along side an amazing normal menu! I went for the Mac and cheese veggie chicken burger with fake bacon and BBQ sauce, oh my word it was the best burger I have had in ages! Thank you so much!!! My partner said his was really good too, plus the halloumi we had on the side. I really recommend this pub if your near it!"

"The restaurant is in a stunning location right on the waterfront. It was very busy during lunchtime, but the staff were excellent. The menu had a good variety of options, and I highly recommend the pflugmann's special. We also tried the sandwiches and the house-made burger, all of which were first-class. They have a wide selection of ales and apple wines from Suffolk, Norfolk, and the local brewery. The prices were very competitive, and the views of the barges were beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"The restaurant is a lovely lay out! The staff were lovely, though it felt as though a lot of new staff didn’t make it overly smooth. However they were trying hard, just needed a lot of support. The dinner service was slow, which isn’t easy with kids, but we managed to keep them entertained during the wait. Food itself was nice."

"The chef is brilliant here. My son has a restricted diet and they bent over backwards to accommodate us. I had the tempura squid which was melt in the mouth, everyone knows how difficult squid is to cook and this was top notch. The main course was a tuna steak salad, nicely cooked with an oriental twist to the salad. My companions were equally impressed they had the mussels which were so fresh they still smelled of the sea, and the pan fried sea bass I am told was absolutely delicious. I didn’t take pictures I was too busy enjoying! Check it out!"

"Wow! What a beautiful pub, so cosy, welcoming and food was outstanding. First time and won’t be the last…New Years Eve lunch with friends. Fresh, home cooked, pub food that was tasty, plentiful and delicious. Spoilt for choice with a fabulous menu and great specials on the board. Service was excellent compliments to the chef, owners and staff. So pleased our friends took us here…We will be back 110% and by the way…top tip…the after eight cheesecake is AMAZING!"

"It was the last hot weekend in September and because the weather was so lovely, we decided to go out for Sunday lunch. Having pre-booked the night before, our table had been selected for us, however as it was so warm out, we decided to sit outside. Just as well as little did we know that would be our last opportunity to enjoy the summer sun. Although we do not live too far away, this was only the 2nd time that we had visited The Green Man pub in Bradwell after so many of our friends has told us about it. The welcome that you get as you walk through the door, friendly smiling landlady and bar staff is great. I really fancied a full on English Sunday roast, but by mistake I ordered the hog-roast which came in a bun. After explaining to the waitress my actual expectations, she said, don 't worry, let me see what chef can do and without hesitation or extra waiting, a fresh plate of a full on English roast was brought out to me, and it was yummy. Fresh vegetables not over cooked, great portion sizes and very tasty too. I always believe that it 's how an establishments rectifies errors, (by both customer and staff) that shows their worth, and they did not fail at all. I would honestly recommend The Green Man as a really nice, warm welcoming and relaxing place to have a drink or something to eat. Good service and great food. Social distancing was in place. The pub was running a one-way system so that customers were not colliding at the main entrance. Great idea. Looking forward to going again for another Sunday lunch."

"We have visited many times before and enjoyed previously, we was really disappointed on our recent visit. Not only with the food but the service too. I ordered the cod and chips the cod was horrible the batter was slimey and so was the cod couldn’t eat much of it all. My daughter ordered the lasagne which was covered in so much cheese it made it greasy and she had to scrape it off to be able to eat it and the salad had so much dressing on it was sloppy. My partner ordered the scampi which had been cooked for too long so it was dry. Service was quick taking our orders but the chef was bringing out the food which makes me wonder what the waitresses were there for. Usually when we visit you get a friendly welcome and goodbye didn’t receive that this time. Limited choice of menu which we understand for was Easter Sunday but that shouldn’t mean the service and quality of meals is limited too."

"Had a delivered ‘meal’ for one. Order was short but only by a salad dish so didn’t make a fuss. It was 28.50 plus a driver tip. The food was disgusting. I honestly can’t understand how it could be so bad. I cook curry from scratch at home 3/4 times a week and treat myself to a BIR curry when working away. I couldn’t make anything this bad if I tried! Truly horrendous! Never again! This is my second and last order from HT. The first contained a rotten king prawn but I thought I would give them a second chance. Big mistake!
