"Interesting to note that so many others have come to review this shop for the same reason as me YET AGAIN, I HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY OVERCHARGED HERE. Not only that, but when I returned with my goods and my receipt, there was no apology and instead much swearing and blaspheming, as though I was the one to blame. Always ask for a receipt (then never give one unless you ask for it not very hard to work out why!! and always check it preferably before you leave the shop, not like me today, checking it only when I got home, but I was so incandescent with rage that they'd done it AGAIN, that I walked back through the rain to claim my refund. I totally agree with one of the other reviewers, that they pretend not to know the correct prices when you question the charge it's happened to me here many times. The only reason I keep going back there is that their bread is very good, but after today's utter lack of customer service and shocking rudeness, I will NEVER shop here again and urge you to do likewise. There are plenty of other shops just like this one, and plenty of other bakers too shops that wouldn't dream of overcharging as a matter of course/whenever they think they can get away with it, and who understand what good customer service is."

"A lovely spot to sit down to lunch or nurse some coffees in the afternoon and watch the world go by. There are only 5 or 6 tables arranged along floor length wrap around picture windows overlooking the intersection of hipster central at Old Street and Charlotte Road/Rufus Street. We arrived at late at 14:00 when there were plenty of tables. I imagine it could be busy here with office workers between 12:00 and 13:00. Hoxton's is a basic independent sandwich shop and breakfast bar, that also offers a couple of cantine style warm meals at lunchtime. Today there was chilli con carne with rice, shepherd's pie, and a couple of pasta dishes. The two daily sandwich specials were steak, onion and rocket as well as chorizo, grilled veg and rocket. I requested a toasted ciabatta with prosciutto, grilled vegetables and mozzarella. My companion ordered the chilli. The ingredients going into my sandwich were all of good quality. However, the amount of filing used was quite modest. A single layer of ham, a thin layer of mozarella, a scatter of good grilled veg consisting of mostly paprika and courgette and a bit of rocket. it was tasty enough though. My companion complained that his chilli was boring due to lack of spice. There was no cumin and virtually no chilli powder. It did taste predominantly of meat and beans. That said, lunch was cheap and I would be happy to return. I'll stick to strongly flavored compound sandwich fillings given the modest amount used. The daily sandwich specials did sound attractive."

"It's unassuming, low-key, understated. The frontage is ordinary, the decor relatively plain... and I'm guessing that the image and ethos is entirely intentional. Ostentatious is NOT a word you'd ever associate with this fantastic little eatery run by a couple of Kiwi guys. The superb...food, made with fresh, tasty ingredients and often with a creative twist on old favourites, just seems to speak for itself. I may have visited on April, but it's no joke when I state for the record that the barista made me the best coffee I've had in London (and I've lived here years it was so good, I ordered a second just to see if I was imagining it... I wasn't. The place has a great buzz, the clientele seemed relaxed and chatty, and there's a stool bar facing the street if you want a window seat to watch the world go by. No wonder then, that it seems to be doing great business. Hats-off to you guys for getting it SO right seemingly effortlessly. I shall definitely be returning. (Stuart King, London"

"I have to start by saying that the food here is really nice however the service was poor. We had to wait over 45 minutes for our food, during this time 2 families arrived, ordered, ate and left and yet our order still had not arrived. I questioned the waiter 3 times during this time, each time he stated that it is on its way and that we have to be patient if we expect good food. Eventually after a 45 minutes I went to the front to see what was taking them so long, to be told to wait once again. The waiter finally let us know that our order was dropped on the floor and was missed by the chef. Our food finally arrived with a sarcastic comment by the waiter to which I responded by politely stating that we expect to be compensated due to the wait, he ensured that a discount will be given. When it came to paying the bill, the cashier was extremely rude and was not willing to reduce our bill he stated that our drinks had been deducted (two cans of Zup). He than deducted a further £2, we were not impressed. In the end the waiter asked the cashier to meet us halfway and our total bill was reduced by £8 the cashier was not happy by this, he snatched our payment and rudely said that we will be charged double on our next visit; His sarcastic comments and attitude was not appreciated. Considering there are many other turkish restaurants in this area, I would recommend you to go elsewhere where there is a better level of customer service; such as Aziziye however it is popular and therefore reservations are needed to avoid disappointment."

"Situated in the box park amongst so many other pop up eateries Bukowski is one of the best. The homemade ketchup is sooooo good and I hate regular ketchup. The homemade salsa, the homemade mustard and the Mayo are also to die for. The burger does not fall apart when attempting to eat it. The beef patty tastes freshly ground, proper mince with no gristle. The burger is not greasy, tastes 'clean ' and doesn 't leave you stodged unlike many other burgers. The chips are delicious. The homemade lemonade was incredibly refreshing, with the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. Bukowski burgers I 'll be back for more. The chilli chips sound divine!"

"Poor food and disappointing customer service. Having been a relatively regular customer at Blue Legume over the years, we had the most disappointing experience there today. I ordered a main dish which comes with a selection of 4 salads. The salads were very poor: brown manky lettuce leaves and old and discoloured salads that looked like they had been sitting in the bottom of a fridge. Having raised this with the waiting staff, my complaint was relayed to what I imagine was the owner/ manager. Rather than coming to apologise and offering some sort of compensation/ complimentary drink or something standard good customer care he did absolutely nothing. "The best Chinese take away in north London! Been ordering from here for a couple of years now. It never disappoints and is great value for money. Their chicken satay is amazing and I’ve never tried a dish I didn’t like. We also order the soups regularly which are just fab. Portions are generous and the food is always so fresh. The woman who works there is so friendly and thorough with the orders and never seems to make any mistakes! We always look forward to our Chinese take away treat night!"

We found seating arrangement too cramped (small benches with hard stool chairs) although quirky this hipster cafe was untidy too dark with the retro decor off putting. Dusty vinyl records all over!? "the cafe miami offers a varied brunch in clapton with a combination of the aromas of miami – traditional and modern American with Mexican Spanish influences. the interiors are minimalist with light blue and pink decor around the caffe with exposed light rays scattered around the tables. there are various smoothies, juices and milkshakes in offer and the hot drinks are served with heart-shaped sugar cubes! we visited for cinnamon roll pancakes with cream cheese frosting £10) and speck £2). we were certainly not disappointed! they were melted in their mouth delicious and the cream cheese frosting was to die. the sweet and hearty worked with the speck, although we would like to be craspier. the musella filled pancakes and heifers and banana pancakes also on the menu looked quite epic. we also tucked into the huevos rancheros: two fried eggs, tortilla, again fried beans, spicy tomato sauce, coriander £9.5) chorizo £2). this brunch dish was tasteful with a mix of textures with the crispy tortillas on the top. the chorizo added an additional kick and it was a very filling and delicious brunch dish. cafe miami offers a great brunch in clapton and these cinnamon roll pancakes are worth to travel! we would have preferred the service to enjoy a bit more, but it is still a great place to relax with friends at the weekend."

"We ordered delivery from Cafe Coco and enjoyed decent Vietnamese food. One member of our group had a sore throat and wanted something soft, easy to swallow, not sour, and not spicy. He ordered fried rice noodles with shrimp, which he found delicious. The rest of us shared a green papaya salad, a green mango salad with shrimp, grilled lamb, and roasted chicken with eggplant. We both preferred the mango salad, which was a mix of mango and papaya and was fragrant with a sprinkle of crushed peanuts. The lamb was well-cooked and had a tasty marinade. However, we found the shrimp and eggplant dish a bit bland and could have used more garlic and spice. We were also given complimentary shrimp crackers to enjoy with our salads. We realized we forgot to order rice, so we quickly made some at home while waiting for our food to arrive. Our generous order for three people came to £36, not including the rice and tip for the delivery driver."

"In terms of service this was a DISASTER as it shows the wrong address, when searched on google maps it gives you something different! As I chose collection this caused a lot of confusion and time wasting search and calling up the restaurant to sort the ordeal out. I wasnt offered any delivery or refund or any form of apology, but eventually managed to get delivery. Ive been waiting for two hours and have now cancelled my order. As it got late, the restaurant closed and werent answering the phone anymore. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced on Just Eat. This is obviously not a rating in terms of food quality. BBHMM"

"A friend of mine had booked a table here for Pancake Day, for 5 of us. When she called that morning to check the booking, she was promptly told that a booking shouldn 't have been made as they weren 't taking bookings for Pancake Day. However, the staff member acknowledged that my friend had not been told this and so the booking would be honoured. When we arrived at 7pm, we were told that this conversation had not taken place and that we would have to get in the (30 people deep) queue. We asked to see their reservations book, as that would show that the booking was indeed made under my friend 's name. We were then passed from staff member to staff member as no one knew who was supposed to have dealt with this, all the while we were kept waiting. It eventually took half an hour and some very stern talking to get a table for us, even after they had acknowledged that we did indeed book a table and this booking was to be honoured. The bar was far too crowded, and the additional seating they had provided was a few picnic tables in a temporary marquee round the back. Once we were seated, it took a further 10 minutes for someone to tell us that we had to go back to the bar and get in the (still 30 people deep) queue to order. By this time we had been messed around for 45 minutes and so decided to leave and take our custom elsewhere. I have never experienced such a shocking display of customer service: being told repeatedly that the customer is wrong, and then when the manager acknowledges that we had made a booking (by mistake of one of *their* staff members), it still took 45 minutes for us to get anywhere. Abysmal. DO NOT VISIT."

"We had a disappointing lunch experience at this restaurant. The servers did not seem interested when we arrived, and although most of our food arrived promptly after we ordered, the burger we had asked for did not. The server accused us of lying about ordering it, but we were not even charged for the burger on the bill. The rest of the food was average and uninspired, and given the lackluster quality, we were not too disappointed about not receiving the burger. The food was generic and overpriced, so unfortunately, we cannot recommend this place."

"Had lunch here today with family members. Nice table overlooking the river and St. Paul's but oh dear the service was slow. Seemed it was a problem with bar and kitchen rather than the waiting staff but I'm afraid we deducted service from the bill. Food was variable. My salad of bitter leaves with quails egg and Cornish Yarg cheese was really excellent, as was the terrine our daughter had, but my husband felt short changed by the sea trout. The only main that was really good was the short rib of beef with mash. My husband ordered this but my daughter ended up eating it as she said her breast and leg of Barbary duck tasted of very little. My Cornish fish stew was also disappointing. Desserts also did not live up to expectation. When I order a fruit pavlova I do not expect a perfectly spherical,over-sweet, mass produced merengue sitting on top of some stewed fruit and cream. Probably won't return."

"Looking for a higher quality meal on Friday night and having heard good things we decided to reserve a table at Foxlow. We were surprised that we had no trouble even though booking only about an hour before we wanted to go. It became apparent why once we arrived to a completely empty restaurant with a few people having drinks outside. A few more tables did appear before we left but this place was very empty for a busy Friday night in Stoke Newington when all the other restaurants are buzzing this should give you a clue about what to expect.To give credit for the only thing that was not dire at this place was a couple of the staff and their attitude which was excellent: friendly, professional and very welcoming. Unfortunately our main waitress was unfriendly and we got the feeling was looking down on us for everything we ordered. The wine list while extensive really needs to offer a larger number of lower priced options. Suffice it to say we didn't feel we had value for money on the mediocre wine we had for £29 which was the 6th cheapest on a menu of over 30 reds!The food was the biggest let down. The starter we shared of burrata with heritage tomatoes and avocado was pathetic. A single thin slice of the burrata on the plate with two tiny orange cherry tomatoes cut in half and one regular tomato slice and some pureed green stuff that might once have been something like avocado. It was tiny for £7.50 and a long way from the quality we were expecting. The mains were delivered the moment we finished the starter but despite that were both cold. The fried chicken sandwich being cold was far too soft to give confidence that it had been cooked properly. But far worse was the ribeye steak which was small and thin, insipid and grey and wholly unappetising. As we were both hungry we ate what we could but were disgusted that for the price the quality could be so bad. The restaurant claims to use produce from the Ginger Pig but either this claim is untrue or they are treating it incredibly badly. All we could assume is that our main order was cooked at the same time as the starter was delivered and sat under a less than warm heat lamp but even hot the quality was far lower than the price requires and led us not to bother sending it back.Given the empty state of the place the locals have obviously figured out that you need to avoid this place and this was obvious as we saw every other restaurant full. The makings of a good place are there with a nice venue and some well trained staff but with such appalling cooking and lack of quantity and quality with respect to the prices this is a place I would strongly advise people to pass!"

"how can they go wrong g with a lifestyle shop, caffe and exhibition gallery all into one? if they are in the opposite, this is one of the best places to take a few breakfast, lunch or coffee, I recombinant one of the flatbreads. go early to get them when they're fresh. they also have some lovely looking salads that I try to visit on my next visit. they want something heavier, they also make fresh made pizzas they have a series of exquisite pastries and gloomy, as far as my favorite are the macaroons. I was just disappointed by the tee. it was not better than her average supermarkettee, but significantly more expensive I was not particularly impressed by the staff...more"

"Having elbowed our way through the Victoria Park crowd, we found a table to rest our elbows. This place is dog-friendly, so you might get your elbow licked by a friendly fluffy one. Coffeewas on the heavily roasted side but still decent. Poached eggswere tender and dripped all over my elbows. Dining room was busy, and kitchen staff are clearly not afraid of a little elbow grease. Service staff were friendly, except the two elderly grumpy ladies who gave us the cold shoulder and elbow upon seeing our dog while trying to get past. There was no space in the room to swing an elbow, so they should show more considerations with their mannerism. Outdoor area is now shut, so you would have to refrain from sticking out an elbow when getting out of seat. Generally pleasant, but until the outdoor area is open again I wouldn't want to be back in fear of other customers' extending elbows in a crowded space. Once open again, I may return and hopefully see the dog-unfriendly big-elbowed ladies in better form."
