"I've walked past Translate bar several times, mostly in the day and each time I think ooh, what's that place, that looks nice' before realising again it is Translate. On Saturday, I actually went in, for a drink or two before The Dance Assembly at the Horse and Groom. And it was nice. It wasn't as busy as I feared it would be plenty of people to give it an atmosphere but there was still plenty of space for standing, or, if you were lucky, sitting like we did. There's pretty lights at the window and interesting art on the wall, plus that stripped back, brick thing that Shoreditch does so well. They had a couple of interesting beers that Stephen went for I had an averagely priced glass of house white which was plenty drinkable before perusing the cocktail list. These are mainly (or if you go for one of the posh' ones their words) which is an acceptable price to pay for a cocktail in a place whose raison d'etre isn't cocktails unlike, say, Callooh Callay or Worship Street Whistling Shop. I ordered the Taste of Honey (apparently the first person to actually call it by its name, rather than just the top two ingredients of honey and lime listed on the menu The menu, by the way, is a rather cute-looking thing itself, the ingredients of each cocktail being designed in the shape of a drink (presumable to match what it looks like when served). The taste of honey was a short, strong drink of rum, but obviously the addition of honey gave it a sweetness that I like in my boozy beverages. It was great, and I could have have had many more but I didn't want to spend a fortune so I switched back to wine for my last drink there. The music while we were in there was fantastic. I meant to write down just a few choice songs but each time another song came on, it was again worthy of note. So, a selection of our soundtrack to the night included:Salt n Pepa's Whatta Man, Soul II Soul's Back to Life, Madonna's Papa Don't Preach, The Doors – Break on Through, The Beach Boys – Barbara Ann and Aretha's Respect. Not too shabby diverse and a little bit old school but all gems to put you in a mood for a night out."

"This is the worst place I have ever been in 9 years living in London. I went there with a big group of friends and we got in for free, I initially thought that the staff was kind to let us in, but eventually it turned to be a real scam. First of all, as soon as inside you are presented with a cheap place with old and ruined furnitures, not to mention the quality of their cocktails and the crazy expensiveness. Cocktails in average are 13£, but they are literally watery fruit juices. As a group we spent a lot, probably 400£ given that we were 15 people. After some time inside, we managed to find a big table for us. We were there enjoying the birthday of one of our friend when the security guy came and basically obligated us to either put our jackets in the clock room or leave the place. We spent a lot and we did not deserve such a treatment. The guy was untreatable, we could not even orgie or ask questions as he would ignore us. He was very rude to all of us, therefore we decided to leave the place. As soon as we came out the place, some of our friends, all young ladies, urgently needed to go beck to quickly use the toilette. The same security guy, as well as the manager, an east European lady, did not let the girls in, just as a revenge because we left the place without paying extra money for a non-sense clock room. The manager literally started screaming at us in an authoritative way saying that they had to find another place to go to the toilette. They were very rude and unprofessional. If you want to enjoy good music in a nice environment with professionally made cocktails, go around the corner and there is an amazing place with cocktails between 9-12£, but please do not go to this club because it’s the worst place you can go."

"Tasty food as per usual but terrible customer service ruined my dining experience! I visited this branch with a couple of friends, upon entering the building we were aimlessly standing around for 2 minutes before having to wave to an employee to seat us. This was shocking because there were only 6 other customers, none of which were being served. Once seated we had to a wait a long time for an employee to come and take our order. One of my friends had an issue with her milkshake as it did not taste as described on the menu, we raised this issue with our server who asked if she wanted an exchange, my friend accepted this offer of an exchange. This seemed a pretty quick and pleasant conversation until a female brunette employee with a lot of tattoos came over and was disgustingly rude to my friend. She communicated to my friend that an exchange would not be an option as it is not company policy and the provider reason for wanting an exchange was, in her opinion, not good enough. This unpleasant exchange went on for another 5 minutes, after several dirty looks and cutter her eyes at my friend the employee finally agreed to an exchange. After this the employee walked away but conversed with her colleagues as they continuously looked over at us. We were made to feel extremely uncomfortable. Once the food came we were not given any cutlery and once again I had to get the attention of one of the employees who brought dirty cutlery which I had to point out to her. Avoid this branch as poor customer service from employees will ruin your dining experience."
