"When three generations of my family recently vacationed in Scotland, we enjoyed many wonderful experiences and excellent food. The best part of the trip, however, was our discovery of The Palace Pantry in Falkland, where we encountered the warmest, most welcoming women and the most delicious sweet and savory food imaginable. These women created delectable, traditional Scottish pies, with fillings ranging from haggis and pepper steak to curried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Our grandsons, aged 10 and 12, loved the pies so much, we served them every night. The sweets were equally fabulous, including fruit tarts, yum yums, and shortbread cookies. We also ate those every day. Not only did the women at The Palace Pantry provide us with daily meals and treats, they gave us valuable travel advice, letting us know how to pick up our son and grandsons without ever having to drive through the Edinburgh airport and where the best fish and chips and ice cream could be found in St. Andrew 's (Cromar 's for fish and chips, Janetta 's for ice cream). We can 't even imagine what our trip would have been like without Alison, Laura, Louise, and Joy. We highly recommend a trip to The Palace Pantry to meet these fabulous women and sample their delicious sweet and savory treats. It 's a bit off the beaten track, but well worth the trip."
