"Went with friends for a catch up with our kids. We 're not actually from Glenrothes but picked here due to the kids play area and the website portraying a family restaurant. This could not be further from the truth. Went in around 6 and ordered at the bar about 6.30. The staff member behind the bar had the worst people person skills for working in this sector. I was greeted with 'what you wanting ' followed on by 'you do ken the play area shuts at 7 ' there is no mention of this on the website. The food came and it was okay, although the chips were a little undercooked and a very minimal portion. As the play area had shut the kids (a 2 year old, 3 year old, 7 year old and 8 year old supervised by an 18 year old and 11 year old) decided to play outside at the playground. After around 20 mins the same member of bar staff who served me went storming out telling the kids they can 't play out there in the winter months. Again no sign advising this. Surely as the parents it was at our discretion as to whether we were okay with our kids being out there? I would have appreciated it more if a member of staff approached our table advising that it was at our own risk having the kids out there in the dark instead of her storming out at the children. After a while inside the kids got restless so played on the floor, at our table may I add. Of course they were giggling, being a little loud but they 're kids playing on a Saturday night. Another staff member then told the kids 'they can 't do that ' again not speaking to the parents but speaking to the kids from a distance. After this we were then quite annoyed so just decided to leave. We walked past 3 staff members on the way out the restaurant with not one of them saying a thank you or even a bye. I have never experienced such poor customer service in a restaurant. And it was not just one member of staff it was every one we encountered. This really let the place down as we thought we 'd found a great meeting place for us to have a catch up and the kids to play but this has totally put us off. My 7 year old even said to me this morning 'the staff at that restaurant were not very nice ' if a 7 year old can comment on that then I think you have an issue. Maybe updating some signs in regards to what children can and can 't do (in this case it would be a sign saying they can 't even be children) or maybe stop children coming in at a certain time if this is an inconvenience rather than treating people so rudely. A staff training course on customer service and people skills may also be an idea."

"We decided to treat ourselves to a meal for our wedding anniversary's and wish we hadn’t. When we arrived we were told all orders had to be made through the app, so I downloaded the app. I ordered drinks and shortly after a waiter...arrived with drinks. I checked the confirmation email and checked that I had ordered another drink and, after asking for it, it eventually arrived. We had booked the Bistro Al Fresco which looks lovely in the little private gazebos. Again, everything had to be ordered on the app. Two of the other diners also downloaded the app and we passed the phones around the five of us to choose from the menu. A bit impersonal and obviously we couldn’t order drinks while making our choices. We ordered one soup and had tiny bowls delivered, we had to ask for glasses for the water, the music system kept turning off and on and changing volume and song, the ‘bread basket for was slices of plain white bread with some oil and vinegar, the ‘nuts and olives’ were a tiny bowl of olives and a bowl of salted peanuts, hardly award-winning fodder. When I politely asked the waitress what was happening with the music she returned with a ‘manager’ who was condescending, confrontational, patronising and frankly downright rude. She said that the music system was new and that, no sorry it can’t be turned off’ and that the poor bread selection was ‘reflected in the price’... for four small slices of white bread!? When I pay for two starters and five main courses I expect better. Fortunately the main courses were okay, not great but okay. We certainly won’t be recommending it to friends or family, or returning when we can get nicer food and far better service elsewhere."
