"I don't think the menu has changed since it opened, but it doesn't matter. It's wonderful traditional Portuguese food, brilliantly well done. The portions are huge much as I'd like to I've never managed both starter and main. Service is like fawlty towers. Utterly chaotic but also incredibly endearing and with such warmth. I love this place for the unpredictability of occurence, but the predictable quality of food, warmth of welcome and wonderful views. I always come out smiling and as a secondary aside, it's ridiculously cheap for what you get."

"Used to be so much more welcoming with board games and even more books and small tables to hang out at. It has changed to getting more people through the door and also isn’t open to 10pm anymore: no more oat hot chocolates on library breaks. It is still a lovely spot and one of if not the best in town. Staff are lovely. Yeah I love it just wish they kept the really cosy vibes from pre Covid. Service: Dine in"

"we had only one family dinner for 12 in hiding and have to write this review. the service was excellent and very friendly owners and coworkers who went out of the way to make sure we had a nice evening. we waited no time to serve the starter meal and the sweets at all, and we were all served with each dish at the same time and all our meals were pierced hot and no matter who the appetizers the main meal and the sweet were all beautifully presented and delicious and the portions were huge. we can recommend to hide this to anyone who is looking for a nice meal and nice friendly owners and employees. well done that we will be back."

"Restaurant is not cozy and not on Waterfront. Food was pretty good, especially ox cheeks. But the owner served us alone and everything took time. The worse thing was that owner didn't break a bill for 3 parties, as we asked, but made 1 bill, in which he mixed everything up so, that only at home we figured that he counted our drinks twice. First he put drinks separately, but then added also total of the drinks again! We left the city early in the morning with a group and couldn't go there to complain."

"Today for lunch, I had a goat cheese salad and a large cappuccino. The service was fantastic and the staff was friendly. The food was served in less than 10 minutes and was very satisfying. However, I was a bit disappointed with my large cappuccino. Would I go back again?"

"I have visited this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. The food is outstanding and the service is fantastic. I ordered the classic fish and chips and must say it was better than what I've had in St. Andrews. To top it all off, we sat outside in the dog-friendly patio area where they even provided doggie biscuits. The view is amazing, making you feel like you are on holiday abroad. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back."

"Normally when we eat out we head east to St Andrews or Dundee or remain in Cupar. On the recommendation of others we headed east with friends to the Kettlebridge Inn Italian Restaurant and what a little find it was. The warmth of the welcome added so much to our enjoyment of the evening. The menu is extensive and there were several interesting special on offer. The restaurant was fully booked and throughout the evening there was a wonderful atmosphere in the restaurant and the adjacent bar. All four of us selected well for our three courses. I enjoyed an amazing seafood risotto and tasty starter and dessert. The hard working staff looked after us well and the final bill added an extra smile to our faces great value for money. We now have another excellent eating place within reach of Cupar."

"Reached North Queensferry after crossing the Red Bridge' from South Queensferry. As we came down the hill from the station, the lady was opening up Rankin's at 10 a.m. Nice sunny morning so we chose to sit outside for a quick spot of refreshment, train...watching at the same time. Used the toilet before leaving. Establishment was very clean. It should be noted that there are no public toilets in North Queensferry. The Ferrybridge Hotel where we had downloaded a light lunch' menu appeared to be shut down. Spent the next couple of hours taking leisurely back over Forth Road Bridge to our hotel we were staying in."

"Rockies does really good quality bistro food at extremely reasonable prices. We only went there because many of our usual restaurants are closed on a Tuesday. However, it was great service and really delicious food. I had the fish cakes to start and my wife had scallops. Both were excellent. The scallops were particularly well cooked. My mackerel main was also truly memorable and my wife equally enjoyed her ox cheeks followed by sticky toffee pudding. The bill was £75 including 2 glasses of wine and a coffee. Really reasonable for such quality food. Rockies is slightly outside the centre of Anstruther but well worth the trip."

"Went here for the first time today whilst out shopping in Cupar. The Lighthouse is a Coffee Shop and Christian resource centre run by a combination of paid staff and volunteers from the Churches. The Coffee shop sells the usual variety of hot drinks, rolls, toasties, baked potatoes and cakes. They also have a small lunch menu with soup, two main courses and hot pudding which changes on a daily basis. Good, honest unpretentious food in reasonable portions and very reasonable prices. Not the most modern interior I would liken it to going to Granma's but not in a bad way. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Bookshop has a wide variety of cards, books and giftware inspired by it's Christian theme. I think it is well worth a visit if you are looking for a gift for a more religious relative/friend or to relax with a coffee. Pleasant atmosphere and no, you will not be read texts from the bible although I am sure they would be happy to oblige if you asked nicely!!! Have rated it in context with the type of establishment it is."

"Lovely lunch at Forgans yesterday. There was a good choice of dishes which were well presented and enjoyed by all our party. The staff were attentive and efficient without being intrusive. We also enjoyed the friendly and relaxed ambience of the restaurant. A special mention for Lee who solved an issue without any hassle. Will certainly return."

"We have been regulars at The Ship since it was a pub many years ago and when it transitioned to a restaurant it became one of our family favourites with many birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations being held in the function room. Unfortunately, our most recent visit will be our last. We are aware that things don’t remain the same when new proprietors take over but you at least expect the same standards and value as before. Sadly the restaurant was lacking in atmosphere and wasn’t busy at all, it was also really cold inside and heard others mentioning this as well. The menu was somewhat strange and not good value for money (previously a fillet steak would come on a large oval plate with onion rings, mushrooms, salad and chips. On our recent visit it came on a much smaller round plate with 2 slices of tomato and some chips. The price was still over £30. Also worth a mention is there is no longer lighting outside at the rear smoking garden area so it’s pitch black when going down the couple of steps etc. (and dangerous for my elderly dad . Perhaps things will improve going forward but we are not willing to take that chance again particularly as we were dining there to celebrate a special occasion. Give it a try at your peril (if you can actually get hold of someone as they are only open 2 days a week and don’t answer the phone. If you’re lucky they will phone you back 5 days or so later (by which time you will hopefully have booked somewhere else!"

"If you are in the mood for pizza, look no further than Le Rendez-Vous. We were down from Aberdeen for the day absorbing the sunshine and had a look online at places to eat for dinner and this one came out with the best reviews. They are located directly in the centre of St Andrews, its a small takeaway but don't let this fool you, the two guys that served us are fantastic, so friendly and welcoming. The menu has a range of handmade pizzas, panini's, pastas and crepes at really good prices, they also have seating both inside out. I had the mexicana and my Dad had the margarita with ham, as soon as we sat down outside a few minutes later this delicious, hot and tasty pizza was in front of us. This has to be the best takeaway pizza I have ever tasted, the food takes no time at all and its always served with a smile. I have to give it a 10/10 with some freshly served chips on the side to pick at it was great. To finish off we did indulge in a banana nutella crepe which once again beat any other crepe I have had. Highly recommend trying Le Rendez-Vous you won't be disappointed."

"regrettable when we arrived, but we had booked. fast to order drinks to take/out, then we were told that there was a backlog in the kitchen. determined to order only net that came an hour after drinks. had to go into the bar to get additional drinks. Slowly. to ask if we wanted Dessert/Coffe until what time we had enough. then the card machine did not work and we paid money instead of waiting longer until it was connected. eating was good, but not good overall experience. they told us about Kitchen Backlog, but we didn't know how long, and we had committed until then."

"Sometimes you come across a gem of a place- This is certainly one. Meal, service, vibe, all first class. Prices are keen but this seems to be the norm these days, but the food was well presented and cooked to perfection. Price of drink very reasonable compared to other establishments in town. "Food great, service great, management terrible. There were 7 of us in our party having a combination of starters and mains I only ordered a man, the hake which according to the menu took 20 mins preparation time. Starters came and went, enjoyed by everyone. Mains came, apart from 2, one of which arrived several minutes later. I queried my main which was missing and was reassured it was on its way, but 5 mins later was told that the order had been lost somewhere no apology but a replacement main was offered but declined as my fellow diners had nearly finished and we were constrained for time by the bus timetable. Eventually the manager showed up to ask if everything was ok and was told what had happened again no apology. For my inconvenience I was offered a free drink. I would have expected the manager to have been informed immediately of my missing meal and for him to sort things out. I told him on the way out that I was disappointed with the service but he was disinterested and only wanted an argument. This is a successful and popular business and most people would have a good experience, but the measure of a business is how they react when something goes wrong and in my case they were very much left wanting. Because of the incident neither we, or our friends would ever dine there again."

"Took my friend to try out Scottish hospitality that’s relaxed and friendly, with honest food. I’ve wandered past The Criterion a few times over the years….well I’m an idiot for not going in here before! We went for the fish and chips, and the portions are very generous, with a piping hot piece of battered haddock cooked to perfection. We saw the pies going to the other tables……they know what they’re doing here. Great ambiance as happy punters filled the place very quickly. The service was absolutely spot on from the ladies who attended to us, special mention to Sophie who made the best Irish coffee ever and made some recommendations to my friend about places to visit whilst we pottered around St Andrews for the day. We loved it!"

"Having had excellent food and service here numerous times over a number of years, we opted to book The View for our recent wedding. The food and service were excellent as always! The pre planning was excellent with good communication from the team. On the day, the front of house team were excellent professional and accommodating but also very warm! The food was once again exceptional and all guests confirmed this! We had a large table and the food was prepared and served smoothly, with no delays like you sometimes get with large groups. All of the food was delicious but the black pudding bon bons, haggis fritters, venison, and sticky toffee pudding were notably popular with our guests! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back! Thanks to all the team."

"Feeling peckish after arriving in the town I happened upon this little takeaway. It had seating out front which I thought would be handy on the warm morning of my visit. I ordered the 'French ' panini. That meant a filling of brie, ham and cranberry. It wasn 't panini bread, it was a grilled baguette. The baguette was a decent size. I had my reusable cup filled with tea bit of a self serve after the hot water 's been added (bit like Greggs). As I made my way outside I got a warning about seagulls.... I sat down and when my sandwich (double wrapped in paper bags) was placed on the table it didn 't take a minute for a feathered monster to swoop. Luckily I got there first. The sandwich was tasty and when I finished and balled up the wrappings on the table, said bird swooped and got away with paper. A chap from the shop went onto the road to retrieve the litter. Maybe a parasol or awning might be beneficial if the Council gave permission. It does put me off returning. And walking along the road I noticed other places with outdoor seating did not seem to have any bother with the birds of St Andrews. Anyhow, my baguette/panini cost £3.80 and tea was £1.30. There were some tempting traybake treats in the counter display, but I didn 't partake on this occasion."
