"We 've just moved to the town. You and Me was closed tonight, so thought id try china chef. I so regret it. We had 2 types of chow mein, a rice dice and 2 types of chicken sweet and sour dishes. None of them tasted like they should and we threw the most of it in the bin. If we are not ill tomorrow i will be surprised. I am even more surprised that there was a queue when i walked in (usually a good sign on a sunday night). The 'chef ' who took my order was wearing a filthy apron, the place looks very tired and quite dirty and the manner of the service was quite rude. All a sign that there is little passion and a lack of pride in what they do. But my biggest compliant is that the food was simply disgusting and the worst takeaway i have ever eaten. AVOID"

"My partner enjoyed a fresh crab sandwich, a must-have when on the coast, while I had a delightful bowl of pork soup with a freshly baked roll. Both dishes were truly delicious! We highly recommend the food, the staff, and the restaurant as a whole. We will definitely be returning to Sidmouth again next time."

"I searched online for a dog-friendly cafe where I could have Sunday morning breakfast. After seeing the great reviews, I decided to give it a try. And I'm glad I did! We received a warm welcome at the outdoor patio and were seated at a table perfect for our dog, sheltered from the sun. The menu had a variety of options, including vegan choices. We ordered a small breakfast and a 3 oz steak breakfast, both of which were delicious and freshly made. The staff were all attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant and bar, and I will definitely be returning next summer."

"We visited Sidmouth on 19th July with my wife's god-daughter and her sister. Having spent some time on the beach we wanted to have a meal and The Mocha was right in front of us so we decided to eat there. The menu said that they were serving up to 3pm and we went in at 2.50 so we all quickly made our choices and I went up to the counter to order, arriving at 2.55. There was one elderly gentleman in front of me buy a coffee. However the server seemed to be having some trouble making the order and then the gentleman had some issues making his payment resulting in my arrival at the counter at 3.01, literally 3.01, one minute past 3pm, only to be told they weren't taking any more food orders as it was past 3pm. I argued that I had been in the queue for six minutes and that I would have ordered before 3pm if they hadn't taken so long to sort one coffee order out but to no avail. The member of staff in question was very abrupt to the point of being rude and it was quite clear she could not be bothered to take our order as other staff were dashing around clearing tales and it may have resulted in the staff having to wait for us to finish our meal before they could close up. If they are not going to accept orders up to 3pm then they shouldn't state this on the menu and I have never been in a restaurant or cafe where they refuse to take an order which would have exceeded £60 after I had joined a queue before the closing time. They are lucky they can afford to turn away over £60's worth of business. The customer service here was zero and would not recommend visiting a place where the staff are so rude or so unhelpful."

"An absolute pleasure to find ourselves here for lunch. A charming and picturesque inn, with thatch roof and an old English charm to it, we were very happy and full by the end of our meal. Everything was beautiful, especially the locally sourced beef and we couldn't help but have dessert to finish. A lovely couple who were polite and fast with service. Parking was easy and cost very reasonable considering where we were. I honestly would highly recommend for couples or families. They had toys to keep my youngest busy whilst we waited and by the end she didn't want to go home. I just wished I'd have taken a photo because the property is honestly stunning. With the cottage feel and the low beams and thatching, it really does look like something out of a fairytale. Very clean and quaint. Parking: Lots of space, easy to access. Kid-friendliness: Toys available to keep them busy, lots of space outside, easy access to the toilets for children. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp on the door for east entry and throughout the property. "Awful we got there for 7.30pm we ordered a starter this took an hour to come out the starter was nice though Then had to wait another hour for our main We ordered 3 steaks all cooked medium rare but what came out was nothing short of boot leather so much so we didn’t eat it and the batter on the fish and chips was watery I did say to the owner when they came over to see how the food was and she said there was nothing they could do as they only had one steak left When going to pay the bill I said to the owners about this and explained calmly and politely about what had happened the man behind the bar had kept the steaks and cut them up to show me the smallest speck of red meat which a apparently makes it medium rare "

"We stayed here for 1 night and wish we had booked for longer. It's off the beaten track but a hidden gem. Check in with Donna was super friendly and she showed us to Room 6 which was gorgeous and incredibly comfortable fabulous nights sleep. The bar has a huge open fire which is a cosy and sociable space, good drinks choices and delicious food in the restaurant. Recommend the baked Camembert and Steak and Ale pie. Service excellent thanks to Ben, Patsy and Hannah and the breakfast the next morning was fabulous and there was plenty of choice. A half mile walk to the beach blew away the cobwebs although we couldn't get back to the hotel as it's that good. Loved it and can't wait to get back."

"Not much open for food in Seaton mid December on a Sunday but we'd eaten in here before, and enjoyed it, so thought we'd try again. All table service, which was friendly and efficient. Nice choice of real ales and cider and a good menu. We both opted for the beef burger and added bacon and cheese. It came with lovely chunky chips and a salsa and was well cooked, hot and delicious. Would definitely recommend and eat there again when in Seaton."

"We recently had lunch at this fantastic pub. The waitress who took our order was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, and our seating area was lovely. One thing we adore about pubs in Devon is that they allow dogs inside, which is wonderful. We were the only customers without a dog, but our lovely waitress Hazel made sure to bring treats for all the dogs around us. It was a delightful sight to see them all enjoying their snacks. Hazel really stood out for her warm and welcoming attitude towards all customers, and she was a joy to chat with in addition to being an excellent waitress. Overall, this was one of our most memorable experiences dining in a Devon pub. We want to thank Hazel and the rest of the wonderful staff for leaving such a positive impression on us."

"What a fabulous little gem this is on Honiton High Street! I have been visiting here for a number of years, it's a wonderful welcoming, friendly vibe, and the food is always incredible! The tapas is a definite highlight, alongside the belly pork or steak I've enjoyed them all! The pancakes offered on the breakfast menu are utterly divine (if I could, I'd have them every day! . I've attended charity theme nights (the cocktail evening was a particular favourite, even if we didn't manage to get through the whole menu Loving the food and service as much as we do, we also asked if they could cater our wedding. Nothing was too much trouble; from the initial planning, to the day itself, the team put me at ease and were so friendly and professional, helping guide us through what we needed/wanted. We decided on tapas to start, pizza for main (these are no ordinary pizzas! Hand stretched, cooked in a woodfired pizza over, they are perfection! followed by a selection of desserts. The food was plentiful, and the guests all commented on how much they enjoyed it! Honiton is fortunate to have a number of fabulous restaurants and cafes, but The Honiton Wine Bar is definitely top of the list for me!"

"Sunday lunch was fine. Sheets on bed clean. Floor was dirty and needed a hoover and bathroom floor needed a mop. Shower riser was broken. Our room was over the entrance to the bar and the smell of the smokers and noise was terrible. Told breakfast was at 8.30. No one arrived to take order until 8.45. We left at 9.10 without breakfast! Very disorganised. Cutlery and cups were dirty, and chipped. Rooms: 4"

"I got a take away from here last year and whilst it wasn’t amazing, it was ok so ordered here again as reviews are better than the other chineses. Well the quality was not great at all. I’ll go dish by dish. Half duck was super fatty and on the undercooked side, no crispy skin at all. The cucumber and spring onion was a tiny tub, the same you get with the 1/4 duck. The hoisin sauce and pancakes were decent. I had ordered extra pancakes as usually we need it but here, the meet was so bad that we only managed to finish one pack of six pancakes. King prawn chow mein, one of the better dishes, good flavours, loads of huge king prawns so good value. Stir fried vegetables avoid! No flavour, soggy and mostly bean sprouts. Young chow fried rice waste of money. It doesn’t have the young chow flavour at all. Just regular egg fried rice with dry meat and shrimp. Egg fried rice no actual pieces of egg and doesn’t have that wok flavour but it’s edible Crab meat sweetcorn soup real crabmeat but not much of the meat. The soup flavour was quite nice but way too gloopy for my liking. Hot sour soup not very spicy, flavour ok, shrimps were not fresh. Sweet sour chicken balls good, batter not too heavy. Unusual sauce, I liked it but not all my kids did. Chicken ginger spring onion one of the better dishes, gloopy again but flavour was decent. Clean chicken meat pieces. King prawn in garlic source not nice, looked like porridge. Unbelievably gloopy, with lots of mushrooms. The prawns were large but I didn’t like the gloopy source. King prawn Szechuan prawns were battered, source quite sweet and not very spicy, tasted similar to the sweet and sour sauce. Singapore rice noodle ok, quite dry and flavour not special. Edible I won’t be going back."

"Visited today with my husband and pooch for Sunday lunch, it was amazing, my husband had the beef, which melted in the mouth and all the veg was cooked perfectly. I had the ploughman’s with a side of the chips (which were the crispiest chips I’ve ever had! The cheese was sooo good and plentiful, the salad was really well dressed and the accompanying pickles and chutney were yum, it also came with a big hunk of artisan bread and butter. There was a really lovely buzz and we can’t wait to go back!"

"We had a family lunch, eight of us, plus a two year old, on August Bank Holiday Monday. Having only booked it at breakfast time having eyed the lunchtime special menu, we considered ourselves lucky to get in there even more so having...actually sampled the quality of the food served. At £12.95 for a two course, £15.95 for three, in such beautiful surroundings, one tends not to expect too much of the service or food, here that is an entirely erronious assumption. The menu is English, perhaps with a more generous choice than you would expect, in our party the roast pork and scampi proved particularly popular, both proving to be best of breed in terms of presentation, flavour and value. Some of us had starters, some sweets, all portions were generous and we did not have a dud dish between us eight entirely satisfied diners is good going, especially when, including a few (mostly non alcoholic) drinks the total bill came to less than £140. In keeping with the surroundings and food was the service, professional, friendly and at the same time unobtrusive, all in all this proved to be a fantastic eating out experience."

"Needs to be shut for couple of months to sort out numerous problems Booked for long weekend and as soon as we could book in as all parking filled as very limited spaces not available told no kitchens were open due to what ever reason but told of nearby eating availability Very poor as weather was appalling and after long drive just what we needed Room spacious but curtains did not fit window space, throw was filthy, shower grout old and needs replacement List is endless if you be honest Staff very accommodating considering but very poor Dining room floor lifting due to not sure what and over 2 nights was major hazard and eventually they had a major leak and afew rooms affected by damp and leaks and dining room ceiling leaking into buckets What more can I go on about Lovely area and setting but just needs to find the glamour that the website portrays All at bit catfish and filters are amazing Won’t be back I’m afraid"

"I arrived at the cafe with my son, and we were immediately told to move to a smaller table even though the cafe was empty. They asked if I could wait until 12pm for lunch, so I said I 'd order drinks in the meantime. My son (aged 7) was finishing off a last bite of a sausage roll from the bakery and the waiter was very abrupt about no food from other places. We left and consequently they lost perhaps £20 in sale. I just felt like we were a hassle to and contrary to the sign saying 'all are welcome ' we felt anything but."

"Indeed, having had many oriental foods and cuisine from Chinese to Vietnamese passing by Suchi, in the UK but as much in Southern California for 11 years and Manhattan for 1 year, I know about price/quality within those cullinary sectors, take aways included. I am in awe of this place: brilliant service but more so, an extremely well priced menu with mega portions and a taste to die for! The Beef Chow Mein as well as the Honey and Ginger Chicken eben the Duchk Chow Mein noodles were THE BEST we have eaten in years! We know where to go when we need special golden minded TLC Oriental foods wise: this is the place. Mille mercis!"

"Arrived around 10:00 am for breakfast, and the main restaurant was about half full, but not too busy. After a long wait, our order was taken, and after an even longer wait (too long) our food arrived. The best item was the freshly squeezed orange juice, although the coffee was not too bad. My wife had ordered the poached eggs with toast and bacon which turned out to be cold with the toast missing butter and looking as if it was just stale bread. I had ordered the large breakfast and wished I had sent it back. Dried out baked beans, black pudding so dry, it could have been used in an ice hockey game, two thin tasteless sausages burnt on one side, bacon so dry and tough that it could be used to re-sole shoes. With that, every item was luke-warm or so cold that I could not finish the meal. The worst breakfast I have had for a long, long time. Could not wait to get out, so the farm shop has missed out on other sales. Not going back."

"I am writing this review after dining at the Mariner's Cafe, which I believe is part of the same business. We visited on a busy bank holiday weekend and were greeted by a friendly server who was knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful suggestions. We were prepared to wait a bit for our food since it was cooked fresh to order. We ordered fish and chips, a fish finger sandwich, and ham, egg, and chips. All of our meals were piping hot and delicious, especially the homemade tartare sauce. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable, so we didn't feel like we were overcharged. I also appreciated that all the drinks and their glasses were kept in the fridge, ensuring nice cold glasses for our beverages. We will definitely be visiting again."
