"Had high expectations based on previous meals at similar restaurants. The waiter waS almost too efficient rushing us through our meal with no explanation of what we were eating. We had to put our own napkins on our knee and pour our own wine which is probably a Covid 19 thing but not explained to us. Just felt like nobody cared. Food was ok but starter so salty I couldn’t eat mine and no feedback from the chef after I was asked if all was well and I said it wasn’t. Why ask??? The soufflé was worth waiting for although it didn’t taste of amaretto which was what it was supposed to be. The cheese was so sparse that I couldn’t distinguish one from another and the tasting sheet was not served with the cheese which would have helped.we asked for a copy to take away. I came away disappointed and know why it only has 2 rosettes and not a Michelin star. Very expensive but didn’t deliver for me."

"I don’t like to complain as it can damage a small business, but I was disgusted by the lack of knowledge of gluten free. That is only the start, of my frustration the menu says ‘gluten free available’ on a number of items and they said ‘sorry we don’t know why’ .. Even the supervisor was clueless, needless to say we left as it was a complete waste of time. I felt like walked into a scene Fred sirieix (Fred’s last resort) Hopefully they skill the staff, this very shouldn’t be listed on this app, unless you want a gluten free fish and chips."

"Came for last meal of holiday very disappointed so steak stated it came with mushrooms there wasn’t any Gammon was charcoaled said came with pineapple there wasn’t any the peppercorn sauce was like water then ordered pudding brownie put in microwave to long had gone hard at the bottom homemade cheesecake more like Iceland special bland and no flavour wasn’t asked was everything ok till we had last bite of pudding by this stage couldn’t be bothered going thru the issues waste of £60 I asked the woman was the cheesecake homemade she snapped yes to then go and **** about it in the kitchen where we could hear would be 1 star but the chutney was nice"

"it's been a few years since I was last in black horse, and it was nicely familiar. the long narrow layout, sticky floors and the history of the building. but something has changed, eating. during my previous visit I enjoyed the authentic pub grub great worth and tasty. this time, eating had changed, there were still some of the well-known pub kitchens, but also some really special supplements. the sharing platters are excellent value for money, we have used a daily offer of 5 boards for a tenor including some amazing jäger chips. I recommend it for a first visit or a return."

"The food here is always good and the staff and environment are always welcoming but today I opted for the pie of the day: cheese and leek and it was the best shortcrust pastry I have ever eaten! I was worried it'd be too stodgy when I realised it was an individual pot pie (meaning extra pastry but it was so light, so tasty and the filling was great too : Have to say that the decaf tea here(Taylors of Harrogate is really bland but this is by no means unusual! I'd have given a 5* if they'd had Yorkshire decaf or at a push:Twinings"

"We stopped by this cozy little pub while passing through, and although they didn't have food available due to a new chef starting in March, we enjoyed some drinks. The bar was neat and nicely decorated, with a friendly lady serving us on her first day. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a real fire adding to the charm. The tables and seating were well-kept, and it appeared that the place had recently been painted throughout. The toilets were clean, and they offered a good selection of real ales. We look forward to returning when the kitchen reopens to try the food, as we believe this place will only get better and busier."

"After visiting Malham Cove and doing the hike round the area we stopped for a well needed lunch at the cafe, although very busy we sat on the benches round the back outside. The server was very helpful when asked about Gluten Free options and we all had various sandwiches with pots of tea or hot chocolate, finishing with some cake. Definitely in the prefect place for the many people visiting the area and a very good experience all round!"

"Don’t go there, even if you’re starving to death. worst food and rude staff. He was shouting at customers and offending us. They are not even serving Indian or bangladeshi food. I asked for spicy tandoori chiken and gave sweet tandoori chiken with not cooked coconut milk. No where in the world i have eaten tandoori chiken with sweet coconut milk. Restaurant can make it less spicy but not sweet. This. restaurant giving the worst food. FOOD AUTHENTICATOR SHOULD SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!!!!!!!!"

"We had bookings for days at Harts Head. We were supposed to have a meal on the June which would have been our visit. This had to be cancelled by our close friend John Piggin. This came about from us making a...visit to Harts Head for a drink after a meal elsewhere as hart head is local to where we were staying and on previous occasions we enjoyed the hospitality. But during Thursday evening, we had noticed just before shutters internally came down, front door to establishment was shut too. We managed to enter the back door. Once the running management noticed how we entered, aaran was fuming and told staff to shut the back door. When our friend John and my husband went to the bar to order drinks, both could see that they looked displeased. My husband asked are you open, one of the managers behind the bar said, we are closed but you can have a quick drink. From that moment it had escalated as we were uncomfortable and cost of drinks and having to rush our costly drinks was not what we expected after annual visits and previous visits in that week. Aaran had only said the evening we had a meal and stayed abd continued to purchase drinks from the bar area, said i wish more people would come in for a drink. I will say one thing, compliments to the chef!!!! So thus is why we returned thursday evening and spend time drinking in the bar area, helps due to loss of earnings after Covid. How the management did not want us there, aaran spoke quite rudely to our close friend John Piggin and he spoke was really dreadful and you would not expect this behaviour in an establishment as the harts head. We all decided quickly drink up and cancel friday nights meal. We got a booking for friday at the Craven Arms at very short notice. Hospitality at Craven Arms Extremely accommodating the male manager. I cannot refer by name, cannot remember but he was absolutely brilliant and opposite to arran at harts head. Just like to point out there were a few guests in the harts head who heard everything. Felt so sorry for some of the staff working under this management regime( very military like) We drank up quickly, cancelled booking for under name of Mr Piggin and walked out. If harts head look up each year booking under surname Mr Piggin, you'll know what you have lost."

"I went here with my 10 year old niece. I 've not been for a while. It used to be friendly and a worthwhile place to go for a quick snack. All has changed. The bin outside said it all. The counter is very bland and boring to look at now. The layout of the eating area is awful. Not appealing at all. The staff.... Well what can I say. There was one young girl in front of me. I was paying by good old cash, as was she. There were two young males stood sorting orders who didn 't even acknowledge us. They were chatting about something. I eventually had to shout if we could have some service please and a young girl appeared. She served the girl in front and when I ordered I had to repeat myself 3 times. I sat down to eat my chicken legend and no mayo had been put on it. Fair enough, I can cope with that but I decided I wanted some. I approached the counter and asked the young lad for some, and what did he say...... I will have to get the manager !!!! What? The manager then came and asked me what was wrong. Nothing, I would just like the mayonnaise that the meal should have come with. Off he trots and puts some mayonnaise in a tub and hands it to me! I despair. The girl that was served previous to me had her order changed 3 times and then gave up. I wouldn 't mind but there were 5 people in the place... Friday afternoon at 4pm. This used to be a hub where you would see local people and have a catch up. Not anymore. The customer service is abismal. Never again."

"I only live a couple of miles away in the fabulous little town of Barnoldswick but have only just tried this cafe.....called in with my daughter for an all day breakfast and cake and coffee....we will certainly making this a regular drop in! Nothing pretentious, small, with a log burning stove, wooden floors, second hand books for sale, homemade cakes and good wholesome food! Oh, and a love old friendly black Labrador as well."

"Been In before had burgers always very good. So I thought I would order something different so I went for the 8iz sirloin steak and Chips I ordered my steak medium well. When the steak came and I'd got halfway through it, it was more medium rare than medium well. So it was up to the apple crumble and ice cream to gain some credit back and it didn't dissapoint good service didn't wait long. If the steak had been cooked better it would have got 5 but it gets 4 everything else was great just the steak let them down."

"The Hecke provided us with beautiful bridal flowers, hair accessories, boutonnieres, and corsages that were absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for being so wonderful and understanding exactly what I wanted without me having to say anything. The hair accessories tied everything together so nicely (I wouldn't have thought of it myself). Thank you again! "We stopped by for lunch today, taking advantage of a rare break in the rain. The lunch menu was incredibly extensive, with something to cater to everyone's tastes. In addition to the regular menu, there were also daily specials available. We received a warm welcome and enjoyed a cold beer. Our food arrived promptly and there was plenty of seating options available. We chose to sit at the front of the restaurant, which was pleasantly quiet despite the nearby road. We were also pleased to see that there was a menu specifically for dogs, which was a hit with our furry companion."

"It is such a shame that this once vibrant and welcoming charming village pub has been allowed to become run down . Opening when it pleases , sometimes not at all . We have known this pub for many years and it is heart breaking to see it barely trading as a pub . One wonders what the owners will do with it next . We stayed locally recently and in the whole week we were there it was open once , Thursday night 6pm-8pm . Really feel sorry for the locals , who always supported the pub , and for the many tourists who will be very disappointed when they arrive and find the doors shut . We even tried to contact the owners to ask when they would be open but they couldn't even answer . If you want a decent , traditional pub in the area try Royal Oak at Hornby ."

"My friend and I met up in Settle and we were both pleased to see The Singing Kettle open under new management. We both had a small breakfast which included a tea or coffee which was perfect. They cater for vegetarian and gluten free. The...manager could not do enough to help make his customers feel comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be visiting again."

"This restaurant has suddenly decided to force all customers to eat Vegan ! It 's NOT sufficiently signed, and after ordering a steak baguette, a chicken burger, and two lattes it was , to say the least, a shock to be served plant based versions, and latte made with oatmilk I tried my best,the taste wasn 't too bad, but the bland gooey texture was distinctly unappetising, and I couldn 't finish it The prices (never cheap, but acceptable for the excellent food they served up until a week ago ! , seem to have remained about the same It 's a real shame, but the eat what we decide, or go elsewhere attitude, does not sit well with me, and I and my friends will not be returning It seems unreasonable to be unprepared to offer the customer (who in this case is clearly NOT considered to be always right, or indeed to have a different opinion to the management ! A CHOICE as to their diet !"

"We go out once a week for a treat (not easy in the current financial climate). We decided to visit Macleods Restaurant for lunch. The staff were great, very helpful and pleasant throughout. But we felt let down with the food. There are only 5 main courses on offer, yet one was not available (the burger) as it had not been delivered! Really, you can’t manage to have 5 options delivered and available. We both had the fish and chips, and both of us found the batter heavy and greasy, so we left the batter. Finally, we discovered on paying that a 10% tip was added without notifying us or mentioning it in any way; it was just added to the bill and then included in the total. You shouldn’t just include it in the total and it is not acceptable to put customers in the position of having to ask you to remove a tip from the bill. Money is tight enough without this type of practice, so sadly we won’t be visiting again."

"We have often seen this restaurant on our occasional visits to Settle. We made the effort and booked and so glad we did. Beautiful simply cooked food with no pretentious style or ingredients just tasty dishes that I would say is bistro style. We both had sardines to start that were cooked beautifully with lemon and olive oil followed by lamb that was cooked to perfection with gorgeous sauce and the tiny roasties were perfect. Pancakes with blueberries etc for me and a gorgeous looking rhubarb mess for him that finished a lovely meal. We will be back."

"Had late lunch here during long walk. It was excellent with everything home made. We had cheese, ham and chutney toastie with scones jam and cream, with a pot of Yorkshire tea.. I am “gluten free” and both scone and toastie the best I’ve ever eaten. I was told that even the GF bread is home made. Really good, friendly service and seating I’m a beautiful setting outdoors or spotlessly lean traditional indoor tearoom with large windows to see the view."
