"14/4/24 Sunday afternoon beer We three middle aged guys from London just popped into the pub for a beer whilst exploring the coastline. We parked in the small car park after deciding parking on the yellow line was too risky (although many cars were parked there along the road outside). At 2pm we sat on the terrace and logged onto their website via the qr code on the table. The menu said there was Brains SA bitter so one of us wanted a pint of that. Two of us went inside to see what was on offer as often websites are not accurate. Just as well we went in because apparently the Brains had not been sold for quite a while. Only Marstons Pedigree was on which was fine but not local, a pity. A very friendly barmaid served me and was quite chatty explaining how the pub was part of a chain and did not quite know what was on offer in any particular pub at the time. A pint of Brains' Bayside Lager was also bought instead which was quite citrusy and unusual. The restaurant was busy as was the terrace. The food looked generous and obviously being enjoyed by a variety of couples and families. The beers went down well until the drizzle then rain started. The terrace cleared and we found a dry but breezy covered area by the main restaurant windows. They all looked very warm and snug inside! We watched some crazy people swimming in the cold surf and rain on the large immaculate sandy beach below us. One thing which was a bit grating was the amount of litter in the village. Unfortunately there was also quite a lot on the terrace too, some obviously quite dusty and old. The car park was similar. The grounds need a deep clean! A bin was available outside and well used but some people drop litter or don't bother to chase after it in the wind! Luckily we were in the village as the tide was quite low and still ebbing also the rain has stopped so we crossed the beach and clambered over the rocks (looking to the right) to see the quite spectacular waterfall! Overall this is a welcoming and well designed pub/restaurant which is lovely outside in good weather. It no doubt gets very busy in high season so park high up and walk down."
