"Our daughter bought us a voucher for afternoon Tea which we were very much looking forward to. We chose to go to the Aylsham venue rather than Norwich so that we could enjoy a visit to the town both before and after the event. Our time was booked for 12.00noon. We were shown to our table, everything was explained and we were invited to look at the beautiful selection of cakes, scones, teas and coffees available. The choice of sandwiches and various bread options..... So far so good. The place was busy but not crowded. My wife and I were really enjoying our food in a quaint little place..... However one of the waitresses said three times to us that they could provide boxes for anything we wanted to take home if we couldnt manage to eat it straight away.....! It got to 1.20 pm and we were just about to start to eat the final tier of what looked like delicious cake when the same waitress came to our table and said..... The next people were here and could we please consider finishing up to vacate the table ! At no time were we told that there was a time limit ,never mind a 90 minute time limit to enjoy our otherwise lovely afternoon tea. I have since checked out the website and to my knowledge there is nothing on there to say that the clock is being watched and a fast food mentality is enforced upon customers. I make a point of writing this review as a warning to others so that they can get a starting and leaving time agreed before the drive over 40 miles as we did to visit this place."

"Coffee shop and restaurant Cakes used to be great here but no more clearly a cash n carry powder mix or similar is used in general the round sponge cakes may as well be a Betty Crocker which is fine if I weren’t expecting homemade , the banana tray bake with the thick frosting no substance whatsoever to that sponge and there’s an aftertaste that you don’t get with real homemade cakes . Maybe they can get away with calling it homemade if they have to add ingredients to powder mix and bake but it tastes in the product . A change of supplier to someone that can cook properly and it shows in their product . In general meals are ok can be very sparse on garnish and microwave pinging is far to often as hot spots appear in meals such as Mac n cheese and becomes inedible yet still served . Glasses and cutlery need to be more rigorously checked as these are often dirty . Also better choices needed for soft drinks . The soups they serve are lovely . Painis are in reality just a squashed in toasty maker baguette so that’s disappointing , they do have a good selection of sandwiches ,wraps and fillings , a little more salad on side would be better as they are not cheap in price . Scones not a great deal of flavour here I’d suggest adding cayenne to the cheese ones and maybe add some Parmesan to the mix to give richer flavour . Dry fruit scones . Staff in restaurant are very good coping very well with new rules for Covid . Clientele are mixed, a lot of older people in particular . Garden centreGreat little gift shop area with unusual greetings cards once you get past the expensive traps as you walk in . Seem to if put are far amount of glass in there for extortionate prices most of which I’ve seen in shops such as tkmaxx for a fraction of the cost . Plants on the expensive side and alot of which do not last long when they get home . Shoe shop in a garden center WHY ? Never seen anyone in there and the poor till person is always looking out desperately at you as you walk past . The expensive designer interior items on opposite side of shoe shop area has anything here ever sold ? What a waste of floor space . Parking is usually good plenty of space and once again staff are very helpful and will always bring items out to car for you . It’s just my opinion of the place it’s sometimes very good sometimes not so"

"Before I start I will say I emailed this venue to complain and get insipid reply so here's my review. Being gluten free was impressed when phoned to book that was asked about allergies, however we were assured that gluten free option for the car very was available and told they did gf gravy and Yorkshire puddings!! On arrival all good, everyone else was keen for the carvery, I asked about y.pus and gravy and was told NO y.puds didn't do gf and we were never told they did, we said could they check another waitress arrived and basically made out we were lying, because of this decided to not have carvery on principle was then told only other option on the menu was the chicken dish which would mean everyone waiting at least 20 minutes or something like an omelette off the other menu. As time was an issue went with carvery minus y.pud. I am coeliac but at the moment quite mildly, to my surprise on getting the carvery found the y.puds surrounding the meat and the same fork used in the meat to dispense the puddings, not a major issue for me but could be for someone else, on leaving did mention this to staff and in the subsequent email, was told they had spoken to another customer who asked for gluten free and as she said she didn't have a problem with it, then they didn't see it was a problem !!!! Desserts there is an offer for 2 courses rest of my friends decided on various spong puddings with custard my option SORBET !!! Everyone having nice winter comfort food pudding me iced flavoured water. Hence will not return, I appreciate if you are gf you could avoid carvery but if in a group as I was,and being assured you were catered for, finding the Yorkshire by the meat and then having to wait for 20 minutes for something of the menu while everyone else Is already eating. One plus point the gf gravy was nice and plentiful, to the point I shared it and was told it was far better than the normal gravy. This was in December as I haven't been back assume this is all still the case but who knows hopefully they may have taken notice and it may have changed."

"We was on holiday in Norfolk with friends who had previously been to The Bell and said the food was great so we decided to go there and meet up with some old friends of there,s we arrived before the others we then ordered COD and Chips. Salmon.Sausage Mash 3 Burgers 2 had pulled pork 1 had chilli beef toppings when the food arrived 1hr later the Burgers were over cooked the pulled pork was dried out and inedible plus the Burger buns were burnt black or not even cooked when we complained the manager owner could not see what was wrong when I pointed out the Pulled Pork was dry and unbeatable which I had to spit out into a tissue he said it should have had some sauce on it not that it was dried out which is visible in the photos takenhe offered to replace BUT we did NOT want to wait another hour for replacement food so we declined one burger had wedges they were overcooked and hard all in all the the Burger meals SHOULD NOT have left the kitchen are they professionals or amateurs after a much heated discussion over payment Jason decided to change the previous offer of 50% OFF one burger meal and not charge for the other 2 burger meals to 50% OFF all the food bill hasten to say we accepted but we decided not to wait for desserts. When a party member said about us putting a review on TripAdvisor he not not seem worried only to say we could ruin a small business i am afraid it is your CHEF who is ruining you busines by sending out unsuitable food"
