"While the food was OK, the proprietress blatantly tried to rip us off for exactly 20 francs. While I went to find a table in the awesome Markethalle, my husband paid for our food. When he got to the table, I asked if he had tipped her. He handed me the change, and I saw that we were 20 francs short. When I confronted her, she ran right to the cash draw and bought me the 20! I hadn't even told her the amount we were short! I wonder how many unsuspecting touris she rips off everyday! Beware if ou don't know th language or the money!"

"We have lived in Switzerland for 8 years and in many other countries around the world, but this place was cruel in how they treat guests. We decided to eat here because it had both pizza for our 7 year old and some supposedly typical Swiss for the parents. We also had a very tired 18 month old boy who was hungry. Before we ordered drinks, we gave the waitress a baby meal and asked if they could heat it up. Drinks came, then our meals...still no baby food. We asked again, and were told it was coming. Then our baby explodes screaming and the waitress just scowls. Finally, my wife goes to the waitress and demands that she take her to the kitchen to get the food for the baby. Meanwhile, our food gets cold (pizza was typical and the cordon bleu was standard pre-made square pork version which was barely warm in the middle and charred on the outside). No consideration from the manager/owner who witnessed the whole ordeal and a terrible meal and evening caused by the inconsiderate people. Not hospitality."

"Wanted to try the current vegan burger of the month (Aladdin) after taking a break from visiting new shops in the city. The menu generally has choices mostly available all year round and monthly special selection, both vegan and non-vegan, which I find very nice to offer variety. Furthermore, all burgers can be obtained with a vegetable patty as alternative too. The ordering is done via selection of the meal (either burger alone or via menu, although I didn’t see any offer for discount like in Japan), then you get a pager which will beep once your burger is ready. I ordered Aladdin and rosemary fries with ice tea to go due to the temperature. While Aladdin is probably not the best choice to take when it’s hot outside due to how dry and spicy it is, even if mildly, the burger was quite tasty and the fries were great and came with a generous portion. There are many places to sit, and it gives the vibe of an American dinner with the coziness of an European setting. You can then bring back the tray and throw away the trash around the entrance, although the staff does pass around in case anyone doesn’t do this or leaves the trays outside. Overall very kind staff and very nice experience, good to visit to try the new varieties every month and maybe bring a friend or two during the weekend."

"Nice option for great burgers and craft beers. Cocktails are really good,the rest of food is tasty as well and prices are adequate. Cool ambiance if you are looking not only for a chic spot for a romantic/casual dinner but also great for friends gatherings. The service was ok,fast and kind with a little trouble with languages. I was surprised by the naked burgers option (no buns), that 's a plus if you want the guiltless taste. Recommended!"

Die Atmosphäre eignete sich ideal für die Vorlesung des Buchs Das Geheimniss erfüllter Zeit von Dan Shambicco. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam, aber hielt sich während der Vorlesung trotzdem diskret im Hintergrund. Was die Atmosphäre ausmachte, lässt sich rückblickend auf so einen besonderen Abend schwer feststellen, aber die Mischung von Architektur und Einrichtung gefällt mir gut. "So this was nowhere near Indian food. With Alo Ghobi, the potatoes and cauliflower are cooked in ghee so that it retains its firm consistency. There, both were simply cooked and even overcooked; when cooked, they get a completely different consistency than when cooked in ghee. "We went in to watch six nations rugby. The food was really tasty burgers, nachos, buffalo wings and the like. There were a lot of screens around the room. There was quite a bit of shouting by men at sportball which is not really my think but par for the course given the fact that it is a sports bar."

Das Essen bleibt leider auch unter neuer Leitung so LaLa. Da gibt's zwar zwischendurch gute Fleischqualität, doch auch hier kann man die Qulitäten nicht durchziehen. Wer mit XXL wirbt, sollte sich aber schon auch ein XXL auf die Qulität setzen. Die XXL-Qualität ist und bleibt das immer noch kompetende Service-Personal!"

After 1 year and half in Switzerland, this was the first time I tasted some flavors here that reminded me of my childhood! And what is the catch? "Wir gingen nach Zur Magd hauptsächlich für Desserts und Espresso, nach dem Abendessen. Unsere Erfahrung war großartig. Wir probierten eine Reihe von Hausspezialitäten und Sorbets (hausgemacht). Der Ort hatte viel Geschichte und Charakter. Auch mit dem Maler Hans Holbein ist eine gewisse Geschichte verbunden. Es liegt ganz in der Nähe des Rheins, direkt am Anfang der Johanniterbrücke von Gross Basel.Es war voll, laut und festlich. Extrem hell beleuchtet und mit vielbeschäftigten Kellnern und effizientem Service. Sie haben ein Tagesmenü und einige sehr interessante Speisen auf der regulären Speisekarte.Wir liebten das Semifreddo di Mandorle, Pistacci Amaretti, das Kirsch-Pflaumen-Sorbet, Affogato und Profiterole Stracciatella.Wir planen, wieder dorthin zu fahren, um ein komplettes Essen zu erleben!"

"Wir haben kurzfristig einen Tisch reserviert für einen Freitag Abend. Erst hiess es bei Reservierung, wir hätten nur eine Stunde Zeit zum Essen Worauf wir dann meinten, dass wir dann anderweitig schauen würden. Daraufhin war es kein Problem, länger zu bleiben. Vor Ort hatten wir allerdings erst das Gefühl, dass man uns ganz schnell wieder loswerden wollte. Bestellen ging ohne Probleme, aber wir hatten kaum die Vorspeise aufgegessen, kam unsere Hauptspeise (frische Pappardelle mit Gambas) schon an den Tisch. Bruschetta und Pappardelle waren sehr fein. Wir haben noch ein Dessert genommen, was die Erwartungen allerdings nicht erfüllt hat. Gesamtfazit: Das Da Gianni ist auf jeden Fall einer der besseren Italiener in Basel und wir kommen gerne wieder."

"The Ramen is bland and uninspiring, even though the Miso has a nice tanginess to it. But it stops right there. No complexity to the Miso. The noodles had a nice bite. The service was very inattentive. I can relate, when it’s hectic, which it was not. But they did warm the Dorayaki, which was nice. There are better places for Ramen in Basel for the same price, if not cheaper."

"Im Fernsehen "mini Beiz dini Beiz" haben wir dieses schöne und einfach ausgestattete Restaurant gesehen und das Menü hat uns schon beim zuschauen durch das Fernsehen begeistert. Nach langer Zeit durften wir nun dieses Restaurant besuchen und es war ein Gedicht! Die Vorspeise war frisch und in seinem Geschmack vollendet. Die Hauptspeise, die Seefrucht Suppe war der Hammer und ich hätte am liebsten nochmal bestellt aber da die Portion schon sehr gross war freue ich mich nun auf das nächste Mal. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und man fühlt sich sehr wohl! Ob für ein Familienessen, ein Essen mit freunden oder ein Geschäftsessen ich kann einen Besuch im schmalen Wurf von herzen empfehlen! Viel Spass und einen guten Appetit!"
