"My mrs had just done a 6 day shift at the hospital so I thought I’d treat us to a Sunday lunch we arrived at 1300 (on a Sunday) and the place was dead. Friendly waitress took us to a table and we ordered drinks then we were told that due to an event they weren’t doing Sunday lunchif we’d been told upon arrival they weren’t doing Sunday lunch we wouldn’t have stayed. The alternatives were terrible, my mrs is vegetarian so she ordered a vegetarian pie with seasonal veg a few minutes after ordering someone came along and asked her if she was vegan or vegetarian as the pie has meat in it. When we asked her what she meant she seemed to not know what vegan or vegetarian meant, she muttered and wandered off. we didn’t see her again, and we still don’t understand what she meant. The seasonal veg was. Over boiled frozen peas and a tiny dollop of mash. Oh and gravy, we couldn’t be bothered to ask if the gravy was vegetarian, but I am 99% sure it wasn’t but she needed it to drown the dry mash and peas. I ordered the mixed grill, it was terrible , if you’ve ever wondered how thin a gammon slice needs to be before it’s just bacon dine here.. the thinest gammon I’ve ever seen, but also the fattiest, a lump of chicken that looked and tasted like it had been boiled, and a steak that was so tough (no steak knife was offered) that I had to ask for some sauce to mask the flavour (I never eat steak with sauce). I can’t be bothered to describe the kids pasta , but he didn’t eat it. My mrs hates it when I make a fuss so I bit my tongue (nicer than the steak lol), but at the end I had to say something and we got our drinks taken off the bill. I also flashed the Mrs’ blue light card and got more off the bill. Disappointed."

"Been going to Betsey Wynne for 15+ years as used to live local and now only live about 10 miles away. We 've seen a steady slip in the customer service and quality, which culminated in a family birthday meal exactly one month ago. A Sunday evening that seemed oddly quiet for a sunny weekend evening, we experienced multiple dishes that we ordered being unavailable; obnoxious bar staff; lack of cutlery; table not cleared between courses; mediocre food (avoid the £13 Gambas Pil Pil starter at all costs); cold coffees right down to ketchup bottles that would look more at home in and East End greasy spoon. I guess we now know why it was oddly quiet. Having written to the 'Oakman Group ' expressing our disappointment, I received an email (3 days later) stating that they would pass the message on to the Management and would be back to us 'within 72 hours ' with a response. Two weeks later, no reply so we followed up more apologies and reassured they would be in touch This has been forwarded over to my manager so they are able to respond back to your initial complaint, however due to busy weekend service, we will get back to you as soon as possible. Still no reply. It is now a month. It appears their Customer Service is much like their Restaurant Service. A real shame because The Betsey Wynne used to be a really lovely establishment that we would visit as often as possible no longer will that be the case."
