"Fabulous food and service. This is now the fourth visit we have made here (whilst stopping in Penrith the night before checking into centre parcs! and we love coming back. The vegan options we were offered were delicious and well made as well as the vegetarian options and meat options. Happy customers all round! The staff are always extremely friendly and the service is top notch. Thank you!"

"After searching for a place for lunch with gluten and dairy free options, we found the Lemon Tree as a place to go on our first trip to Penrith. We met up with a friend for coffee/tea there, and decided to go back for lunch. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable on their allergens, even pointing out that the tartare sauce had cream in after it was ordered. Two of us had the steak, vegetables and fried potatoes, and one had the sea-bass, vegetables and boiled potatoes, all off the specials menus for the day. It was nice to have a choice of mains for the gluten and dairy free, and the food was all freshly cooked and hot. The gluten and dairy free orange and almond cake was home made and delicious, as was the home made fruit bread and butter (this could also have been gluten free as an option). For drinks, the home made lemonade was amazing, as was the oat milk latte, and the tea was a generous pot of strong brew with separate water served. We would very happily go back there again any time we are in Penrith."

"Great dining experience! The food was delicious and the perfect way to refuel after a day of hiking. We started with the large prawn cocktail and BBQ bonanza, followed by a 15-inch 50/50 pizza that we couldn't finish so we got a doggy box for the leftovers. Everything was made fresh in-house and the staff were fantastic, making our evening very enjoyable. Highly recommend this restaurant."

"Young chap with blonde hair (don't know his name) behind the bar was very nice. We went 2 nights in succession, once in the restaurant, once in the bar area. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. There was a tv which was thankfully off and background music which was just that, so good for us. It was tastefully decoated and furnished. Overall ambience of upmarket and quality. The weather was abominable and we went at night so can't comment on the outside. We didn't use the toilets. We would certainly return."

"We stayed here for 2 nights during the week (Wednesday and Thursday), using a Buy a Gift voucher we had been given for Christmas. I 'm really pleased we found this place. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff who ended up serving us for the 2 nights we were there. The room we stayed in (standard double) was lovely and clean. A decent size too. The flat screen TV was large enough to watch clearly from the bed I 'm guessing it was a 32 screen or similar. The shower room was modern and clean. We spent a decent amount of time in the room watching TV etc, but it was the bar and restaurant that really impressed us. Firstly the drinks. We 're both fans of Guinness, and the draft Guinness at The Sun is well kept. We also tried the Madri lager, a flavoured gin and tonic, and a bottle of Malbec wine. Secondly the food. Wow. On our first night, it was theme night, and the theme was Winter Warmers . We both opted for the home made steak pie, with chips and veg. Absolutely delicious. Really good sized portions too. On our second night, the full menu was available. I chose the steak and chips, while the Mrs chose one of the Chinese style dishes (chicken in honey/chilli sauce). My porterhouse was lovely, but my wife 's meal was amazing. I continually found myself using my chips to pinch the sauce from her plate. On atmosphere it was pretty good both nights. Wednesday is the ladies ' darts night, and Thursday is the men 's darts. Both nights the pub was fairly busy, with a friendly atmosphere. We both felt completely welcomed. The owners and the staff who work here are lovely, they really made us welcome, and I have promised one of the owners that we will return in future, bringing our kids with us next time. Thanks for a great stay.
