"We visited Koblenz on a river cruise, with the ship docked a few blocks from the Weinhaus Hubertus. We had seen the place on our walking tour earlier, and we decided to dine there rather than on board ship. The posted menu seemed a bit truncated. Of course, there were other dishes listed on the chalkboard. The weinstube was a throwback to the early-20th century. The bar and paneling were dark wood that was reminiscent of my grandparents Teutonic home, with leather wall coverings. The tables were solid oak, complete with cigarette burns and character. This was not a "fine dining" establishment. At the large table was a group of working men downing bier and wein, talking loudly while enjoying themselves as guys do. There were a few other diners enjoying their food. Both my spouse and I ordered the Sauerbraten. It came with dumplings and red cabbage (rotkohl). The food was good, solid and tasty Rhenish fare - exactly what we wanted. We both enjoyed our meal. The surroundings made it a memorable evening. If you want an authentic experience with good food, this is the place."

Pleasant old place, good food (another night with chantharelles), preparation of food better than in quite a number of other places. Excellent wines and good service.

This was our first night in Koblenz, picked this restaurant out of the blue and had an amazing, authentic German meal. The potato soup was delicious, along with the sauerbraten and cold beer

Said to be the oldest Weinhaus in Koblenz, pretty decent menu with seasonal touches, Riesling from both sides of the Mosel, not too pricey, okay service and easy parking. Ambience according to level of alcohol consumption, naturally. Voir le carte

wonderful atmosphere in building from the 1700's? Service was excellent and food was delicious. Typical German menu selections we enjoyed generous not huge portions and well selected wines. With so many choices in Koblenz Weinhaus Hubertus is an excellent choice.

Came inside because the façade triggered us and the inside is even more cosy. The owner was very friendly even though we just wanted to drink something. He told us about the different Riesling wines and we both chose one that was delicious. The place and menu looked tempting but we weren't hungry at the time which was a pity for us.

Despite, not being locals, we were warmly greeted and welcomed. We only had a few beers, but it was a great stop to come in out of the cold. Great beer selection. There is a traditional ceramic heater so it was nice and cozy. The menu looked good with a big selection of german favorites to include sausages, cheese, and Flammekuchen! Don't miss this gem! We enjoyed the pork schnitzel, red cabbge, potatoes, and a nice cold glass of bitter lemon. Given our german is quite limited we managed just fine with the help of our very accommodating waitress. Would happily go back the next time we're in Koblenz. DANKE! Note: we parked down the street at a metered lot. Tried our credit card and found it likes euros instead, so keep small change handy.

We stopped here by chance after walking the docks and looking at all the river cruise boats. We had a nice server who spoke English and provided us English menus. He explained their wine selection to us and we ordered a Flannkuchen with apples, prosciutto, Gorgonzola, and walnuts to go with our Rieslings! Delicious! The old world charm of the building added to the wonderful meal. Worth stopping by if you are down at the "corner".

"We visited this restaurant on Sunday afternoon in 23 August 2015. Because of the unusual number of bees this summer and because the sky looked overcast; we debated whether to sit inside or outside. We finally decided to eat outside and it did not rain...and we only saw one bee during our meal. We did not make a reservation prior to our visit. However, luckily we found a table still available outside when we arrived. The kitchen specializes in German Cuisine. The Menu is a limited Menu with fixed plates. The Menu was easy to read and understand. Plus, salads, soups, and fish plates (for vegetarians) are also available. The Menu also has dishes for those with a small (seniors) or big appetites and meals for children. Prices are average; food portions are average and fair. The Menu is also available in the entrance to the passage way to the restaurant. Also, in the Hof Biergarten there are several black boards on the wall with meal specials posted. When our Menus arrived, we ordered our drinks at the same time. Our drinks came relatively quickly and they were nice and cold (with ice – which was nice on a hot day). And, our drinks came before our food arrived, as it should be. Also, we did NOT have to play the drink game; where someone else brings your drinks and then asks you again, who ordered what. We did however have to play this game at the end of our meal, when my partner ordered coffee. Also, here they serve Pepsi not Coke, if that matters to you. I can drink both. Shortly after we ordered our drinks, we were served some bread in a small turn-down paper bag with paprika butter. The small brown bag was a novel idea, but when the bread was gone, the bag started to blow away from the wind. I had to grab it and weight it down with something on the table. So, brown bag for the bread novel idea but not such a good idea. Our mixed salads were served fresh with a great salad dressing. Both side salads were served at the same time and before our main entrée, as it should be. Plus, our food came quickly, but the negative was that our entrées came before we were done with our salads; not ideal. Another novel but functioning idea, was that our food and drink orders were taken at the table by our waitress with a computerized order system that immediately communicated our order to the kitchen. Plus, we noticed that the waiters and waitresses wore a simple uniform of a checkered green shirts and jeans, giving them a professional look. I ordered the Schnitzel vom Schweinerücken, with sliced fried potatoes, (not French fries so substitutions are possible) und Salätchen for 11,90 Euro, which came with 2 large pieces of Schnitzel. My partner ordered the Gebratene Hähnchenbrust, mit Champignonrahmsoße, Pommes und Salätchen for 12,90 Euro. I tried my partner’s Gebratene Hähnchenbrust and therefore, I can recommend both dishes as delicious. Both meals were from fresh meat, served hot, and as we had ordered them. However, I noticed that another guest had a lot more French fries than my partner; I suggest this restaurant either establish a standard or review their current standard portion of fries, to provide consistency. While neither my partner nor I were offered ketchup or mayonnaise for our potatoes, we did not ask for any either. The restaurant’s outside area is divided into 3 sitting areas. The outside tables and chairs are sturdy. The outside decorations are simple in an old fashion brown wood motif with wooden tables, wooden chairs, wooden bench, a large wooden barrel, and black boards on the wall with specials posted on them. From the outside tables one sits in a pleasant garden atmosphere with live plants, bushes, and trees. The outside tables are simply decorated, with: no table cloth, salt and pepper dispensers, coasters, ash tray, and paper napkins (which I prefer) with silverware in a pitcher. The outside area is roomy and well organized concerning space and the tables are nicely spaced with room between them for people to move about within the Hof Biergarten without having to disturb other customers and even with the tables full; it is not chair back on chair back. There are mostly tables for 2 that can be place together for groups of 4, 6, 8, or 12 people. So, by moving the tables and chairs together, if necessary, it would be a great place for a special occasion or a big group. Sun umbrellas covering the outside tables and each umbrella had a light underneath. I was not inside the restaurant during this visit, so I can NOT review anything about the inside of the restaurant Because the restaurant lies back from the fussgangerweg, the noise level from the street is greatly reduced and the Biergarten is quiet. It is a shame that the restaurant does not have background music playing outside. Unfortunately, the three negatives about sitting outside 1) are from some of the tables there is a view of a trash container, but the area around the trash container was clean, 2) are the smokers, but better having the smokers outside than inside and 3) is the passage way and the terrace floor was not 100% clean, with some cigarette butts and some paper trash on the ground. As the waitress picked up our empty plates, she did ask if everything was OK. Then my partner ordered a coffee and when she returned we played the drink game. When my partner was finished with her coffee, we paid our bill, received the correct change, gave the waitress her tip and left for home. This restaurant does not have it own parking lot and therefore one has to go hunting for a parking space on a side street and pay for parking. There is a city parking lot about 100 meters from the restaurant that is often full. However, we luckily found a parking space here and because it was Sunday, it did not cost to park. Disabled access: The negative is that disable persons must find a parking space on a side street, at least 100 meters away. However, once in the fussgangerweg the passage to the Biergarten and the Biergarten itself are both on the same level. While disables persons can easily reach the outside eating areas, the access to the restaurant inside, due to the two steps up before the restaurant entrance, is not as easy. Outside chairs can be removed to provide wheelchair access to the outside tables. This restaurant has its own Internet page. This Internet page has lots of information on it, such as the address, telephone number, opening hours, email contact information, photos, special offers, special events, and an On-line Drink and Food Menus. But it is only in German. Summary: Based on friendliness, taste, price, service, and atmosphere, my overall rating for this restaurant is a high recommendation. We will be back."
