"This is a small neighborhood restaurant that seats about 30 people indoors. It is informal and decorated as you expect a local family restaurant to be. Terrazzo tile floors, simple wood chairs and tables and an overall darker wall color. It could use some better lighting, but it is not distracting. The food is very good. I had a homemade mozzarella ravioli in a white cream sauce and my wife had a vegetarian pizza with pepper and eggplant as the main toppings. We both had the fine local Pilsner- Feldschlossen. The prices are high if you are not Swiss, but quite normal within the Basel area. My house specialty was about 32 Swiss Francs. This restaurant is near the St Johannes Tor tram stop, but probably about 7 blocks off the main road, so a short 5 minute walk is required. It was a very well prepared meal and I would go there again. As a final note, the staff is very friendly. Our wait person did not speak English, but the chef (owner?) did speak enough to get us through the menu. Of course, if you are ordering the simpler items, then English is probably not required.Nice visit overall!"

Have been several times to da Sonny and every time have received good service and quality food. A real bonus is the price- for a restaurant in Basel! The space is intimate. In nice weather there is an out door area with seating. Looking forward to our next visit!

Da Sonny is hidden down a quiet street and I would have never known it was there. It seemed to be quite popular with several people sitting in the outside space. I had a steak which came with a generous salad as a starter, it was a very nice meal I would go there again.

This is an eclectic spot for a drink, a snack or a good meal. It has some nice outside seating options. The food is very well prepared and the service is very good. I have never seen live music there, but they advertise it, which would definitely be a cozy environment for jazz.

the place is sympathetic, unconventional with sonny as a charming patron who always makes a spicy. topp are all meat dishes, absolutely try the huge grill plate! but also the pizzas are really delicious with high-quality citaits prepared and that for really good prices. the occasional music gigs are also always topp. my favorite in the st johann - perhaps even in the very basel.

We went to try the lunch menu, they have special offers with special prices, and it's really worth it. There is a starter, the options were soup or salad (we took the soup) and the main dish. I've choosed the burger and my husband the pasta. It was tasty and the portions are big. The staff is nice, also the place, but the music was terrible (some pop radio station.) We would like to come back to taste the Carbonara.

first: they come with the public parking in the quarter are rough and then enjoy it. we ordered a Serbian salate (riches best as an appetizer for 2 people,) the pretty dressed, lush so comes and very well decorated. after that the cevapcici on a double bed, which also sounded excellent. the service is very friendly and attentive. the red wine from montenegro, recommended on the homepage, was no longer available. otherwise a visit that has rewarded itself.

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."
