"Wow, The White Horse Shrewsbury is just brilliant. Me and my fiance had a rare night without the children and decided to have a meal out. We went early as it was a Sunday (just before 5pm), there was a lovely atmosphere and we were able to find a nice table in the Garden Room which was really nice and bright. The service was excellent, we ordered drinks at the bar, there was a wide selection to choose from. We chose foid from the Smoke House menu and it was cooked to perfection and very filling. We got asked about hiw our food was and asked if we needed for drinks. The wait and bar staff were so polite and management seemed so in top of everything. The desserts were delicious. The toilets were spotless. We weren't rushed. It was such a lovely evening . We highly recommend treating yourselves and going to try it."

I was very disappointed to find out that George and Tori chose to not allow regular customers into the pub tonight, despite being a place I visit often. It seems they prioritized a wedding booking over their loyal customers. Is this a local pub or a wedding venue? I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend it to others. You never know when you might be turned away. Quite strange.

We went into the white horse today for Sunday lunch, the food was good but the service was excellent. The waiter who served us was a blonde girl called Ruby despite it being busy she looked after our table, she was very efficient ,making sure our glasses were toped when they were low and was very knowledgeable about the menu. All round very good service and food, will definitely be coming again. Voir le carte

Came here after having an interview at Shirehall and myself and my Dad had the burger and steak respectively. What can I say? Amazing food we both absolutely loved it. Great and friendly service and food was fantastic. Hoping that if I get the job I can come here more often, have recommended to my sister who is often in Shrewsbury so I am sure that some of us will all be in again. Thanks for a lovely meal and good hospitality.

Dissapointed, I’m a regular and this is the 3rd time I’ve had a problem. The first time I sent a message in messenger to avoid a bad review. Read but no reply! 1st time quiz night and couldn’t get served. 2nd time poor customer service and tonight I go for a pint to be told they are closed until tomorrow, staff only tonight. You won’t last long in business behaving like that. Always look after your locals…they are your bread and butter. I won’t bother again I’m afraid.

This pub is fantastic! It's exactly what I look for in a local spot. The atmosphere is spacious and laid back, with a great selection of ales and excellent service at reasonable prices. The entire place is clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed a delicious pint of Slumbering Monk at this brewery pub by 'Joules'. There is also covered outdoor seating for around 50 people and a parking lot for about 20 cars, although we didn't need to worry about that since we weren't driving. A great find! Voir le carte

We were on our journey to North Wales and getting hungry for lunch by the time we got to Shrewsbury. We spotted the pub and decided to give it a try. We really liked the character of the place. It’s very spacious and great choice of places to dine. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was great, we all ordered a different dish they were served really quickly, hot and really delicious. The kids fish and chips was excellent just as good quality as the full size meal. If we came back to Shrewsbury, we would definitely eat here again and would recommend!

We had reserved a table at the White Horse with the expectation that pre-booking would make things easier and service more efficient. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The staff lacked charisma and customer service skills, as it took 40 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us or took our drink orders. The bar staff were not well-informed about their offerings, and the food we ordered was mediocre and not served hot. The service was incredibly slow, making a tortoise seem like a Formula 1 driver in comparison. While the pub has a quirky atmosphere and may be suitable for a small group looking for a drink, it is not worth the time or money for anything else. Additionally, the prices wer...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
