"I made a reservation for a table for 8 people on a Saturday night, but when we arrived, my table was set for 7 people. They quickly added another cover, so it wasn't a big issue. It took a little while for our drinks to arrive, but it was a busy Saturday night. Our order was taken promptly, and the starters came out quickly. We didn't feel rushed to finish before our main course. I ordered the biryani, which was delicious and had a unique twist with a pastry crust. The portion size was just right. We skipped dessert, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back."

"We occasionally meet chums in Newmarket and this Italian was the place we agreed to meet for lunch. First time for us and overall a pretty good effort. Requested a better table but they couldn't accomodate the request, when obviously they could but no biggy . The food was good but not what I would call spectacular but would gladly go back and eat there again, so I would urge you to do the same. I think the trouble is we holiday in Tuscany, and frequent several high end Italian restaurants here in the Midlands. We may have been spoiled but seriously, this is a place I would gladly eat at again when next in Newmarket and as I said would urge you to have a run at it too. "Friendly wood-clad restaurant with authentic and delicious polish fayre. We tried the hunters' board for starters, and for mains the venison Sunday roast with potato dumplings, schnitzel and fries, and perogyi. Finished off with the best apple pie I've had for ages. "Stumbled across The Bushel quite by chance on a Thursday lunchtime whilst having a day trip to Newmarket. They had a large ‘A’ board outside which caught my attention. The full menu was on one side and a special offer on the other side. All looked good so in we went, my wife and I. Greeted warmly as we entered. They had a great special offer on of two cooked breakfasts for a set price which included toast and tea or coffee and orange juice. We both liked the appeal of that and ordered it. Service was quick and friendly, nice and clean inside and the table had been freshly cleaned. The cooked breakfast for our lunch, I know ! was brilliant, plenty of it, nicely cooked and the toast and pot of tea topped it off nicely. Very pleased all round with both the food which was excellent but also good value accompanied by friendly service. Never been in there before as we live many miles from Newmarket but if ever we are there again we’ll make a beeline for The Bushell."

"Takeaway. This used to be our go to Thai. Never again will I order. Food was absolutely vile. And tiny portions to boot. For the price you would be better ordering from McDonalds. The tempura veg wasn’t tempura. Thick gloopy oil sodden batter to try and bulk out the rather pitiful veg that was hidden. The ribs were full of fat and inedible. Looked boiled then griddled last minute. The prawn toasts were ok. But for over £7. No. All the starters are no longer in containers. Now delivered in foil lined bags. So the starters sweat in their own grease. Nice. Needed 10 minutes in the oven on a rack just to render the grease out. Dipping sauce pots were 1/4 full. The beef stir fry Pad gra pao was also awful. God knows what beef this was as it was completely inedible. Sauce was ok if slightly oily. Panang prawns was ok. Predominant taste was coconut milk. 6 medium size prawns for £13.25? No. Total rip off. We ordered some separate plain noodles. 1/3 of container full. Dry as a bone. £4.70? I’ve no idea what’s happened to this restaurant. It was the best in Newmarket. Obviously under new direction and trying to recoup lost Covid pounds. Such a shame. My advice is avoid at all costs. Don’t waste your hard earned money. 1/10."
