"My friend and I were out walking around Debdale Reservoirs and up near the Donkey Sanctuary and fancied a drink and a light lunch. As my friend had her dog with her we needed somewhere that was dog friendly. Sadly the nearest gastro pub was not, and it was too cold to sit outside, so we carried on walking until we came to the Sheldon Arms. I popped in to ask and was shown the dog friendly area of the restaurant where there was a tiled floor, perfect! We chose to have soup and fresh bread and the carrot and coriander soup was delicious. We saw the carvery whilst we were in there and that looked amazing, but we just wanted a light lunch. It was a warm retreat on a cold day and the manager and bar man were very friendly. Before we left my friend’s little doggie had a bowl of water too! Lovely food and great service, will definitely visit again."

everything was so relaxed and the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly they ensured that our visit was good there and that eating was also amazing will definitely recommend and go back.

had an amazing carvery. at the sheldon poor was eating very nice and the host was amazingly polite and friendly good covid 19 protection before place well made recommend their place to our guests at the hendham house hotel

The carvery at this restaurant is excellent. The Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, vegetables, and gravy were all delicious and served piping hot. I am very particular about carveries, but I would definitely return to this place.

Outstanding! Greeted at the door with a welcoming smile and instructed clearly about their rules and how to move about safely due to covid. Table service the whole time. Food was fresh, hot and delicious. Will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone. Voir le carte

we love to come to the Sheldon armies, the employees are attentive and COVID restrictions are present that feel very safe. the carvery and eating on the menu are excellent. we wish that they would make an option for the triggering if we all go back to lock up. I would use this option.

had dinner tonight in the sheldon and was totally impressed by all the measures they have introduced to prevent kovid spreading well done. also the staff we are really nice and friendly, especially jill nothing was much annoyed. the food was also delicious. we will definitely go back.

The best pub food I've ever had! The gnocchi is great. Super kind staff and the atmosphere is homely and unique. Highly recommended for anyone in the area, we went following a stay in the hotel nearby. Meals are around £10 each, reasonable for the quality. Pretty sure the gnocchi is vegan if you ask for it without cheese. Voir le carte

Stayed at Ashton Under Lyne Travelodge and went to the Sheldon Arms for dinner over 3 days. The food was excellent and staff really friendly, they didn't mind us revising for exams on our laptops (we passed! . Highly recommended. Only one minor thing I would have liked breakfast! The Travelodge next door doesn't do food but the Sheldon Arms doesn't open until 11, a missed opportunity?

Went to Sheldon Arms for an early dinner in late afternoon. Not much was left of the carvery meats the beef gammon looked dry but they tried to cut the dry bits off for us. The plates are pretty small so we had to pile the veg onto the meats, which was a bit of a mess! Loved the parsnips and the leek mushroom dish though everything was lukewarm there weren't many parsnips left. The rest of the veg were unremarkable, as were the Yorkshire puddings stuffing balls. The meats weren't actually too bad; I suppose we got some of the last decent bits!
