I haven't stayed at the hotel, but I have dined at the restaurant many times, and it consistently exceeds all expectations. The food is outstanding, and the service is exceptional.

Only had a coffee sitting outdoors. I had a portion of chips and they were very nice. A busy girl serving restaurant and outside on her own was very polite efficient nice view outside. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet

We found the Sands Hotel by accident. We didnt stay there, but went to the restaurant. The food was excellent, well cooked and piping hot. Service was great . Food drinks: Varied menu, all cooked fresh, lovely view whilst eating. Service: 5 Location: 5

Brilliant evening meal, gorgeous clean fresh room with a sea view. Staff welcoming and friendly. Nice outside seating space to enjoy the orkney sunset. Breakfast was very nice. Stopped here for lunch and was told they only doing soup and sandwiches as full lunches were nearly finished but our server asked the chef if he would do us hot food and he obliged and we both had fish and chips and it was delicious. This hotel offers an exceptionally relaxing experience with no distracting noise and highly comfortable accommodations. It's situated in a beautiful location overlooking Scapa Flow, providing stunning water views from every window. The staff are friendly, and the breakfast is fantastic. I highly recommend trying the fresh kipper; it feels like a healthy alternative to the traditional grill options. Overall, I would rate the rooms, service, and location all at 5 stars.

Very upmarket feel, room was great food was great, service was great and the price was less than most on Orkney, I’ll definitely stay here again. Rooms: Finished to a very high standard, very clean, great shower. Only negative thing was a noisy extractor fan in shower room. Food drinks: A good selection on the menu, but also happy to make adjustments to suit your needs. I had a pan fried fish with potato and peas instead of a battered or breaded oneno problem, and done perfectly. Noteworthy details: Close to the Pentland Ferry. The Hotel is finished to a very high standard. The staff all seemed friendly and relaxed. Hotel highlights: Luxury, Great value
