"We had been wanting to try this place out for a while and having received a promotional offer for an evening meal decided to sample the breakfast first. Nice parking and a nice roomy restaurant with plenty of empty tables. Obeying the order to stand...in front of the till to be seated, we proceeded to wait for several minutes without seeing a soul but we could hear the enchanting sounds of cutlery and glassware clinking. A couple of people that looked to be staff managed to walk determinedly not looking out way. This seems a bit odd but the area of the dining room that seemed to be in use was blocked by a wall with the passage running at an angle to it (not a real passage more of a pathway). Eventually, a polite young man saw us and asked if we were all right. We said no and asked for a table for two. Did we book, he asked. No, we said, there was nothing about having to book on your website. Oh well, he said, even if we could find you a table (admittedly he did stammer over this phrase as there was clearly at least 20 free tables in immediate view) the orders are piling up. Sorry. I did ask if we always had to reserve a table and was told, no, just today. So as the title of the review said wish we had been able to review the food and service but we clearly didn’t cut the mustard."

Visited yesterday evening, polite staff but as can be the case here sometimes, food disappointing. Large plates which were mostly empty, with each of us having a very very tiny portion of chips. What there was of it tasted ok, but all left hungry Not...worth the money

Lack lustre welcome, not a warm ambiance. It was a bit of a long wait for our meal. .We had ordered chicken with mini roast potatoes, when the meals arrived the mini spuds lived up to their description. Unfortunately they were badly cooked and burnt...and tiny, only the chicken and peas were edible. It's a shame this pub has so much potential. Voir le carte

We found turned up by chance and found the light and airy restaurant. Because it was Monday-Friday, the Roundstone has special Lunch deals. We each had fish chips (nice and crisp golden) with mushy peas generous portions, beautifully cooked and hot, and...nicely presented. My friend had a large chocolate Brownie with ice cream and I had apple pie and custard both lovely. We had diet coke, a lemonade and a beer. All this for £24 !!! Amazing value, and we'll be back very soon.

"Went with my partner who’d been here a good few years before and had fond memories of it. It’s changed! I was told on the phone it was advisable to book, I have no idea why as it was practically empty. We were pretty much ignored when we got there by an older woman behind the bar but hoped it would get better. The elderly woman on another table went off to find her own pepper so I should’ve known then. We ordered drinks and one pint of flat coke later we asked to send it back, I was told it was indeed real Coke by the sullen looking waitress wearing cycling shorts. She then admitted it wasn’t real Coke and did he want a bottle of that. We were waiting so long for our food that dirty glasses were accumulating on the table and at one point we put them up on the window sill. Then noticed a dirty big stain on the table cloth and a candle holder with old wax in but no candle left there on the table. We asked how much longer the food was going to be as we both had work in the morning and it turned upafter 60 minutes and I wish we’d have left 20 minutes earlier when we’d thought of doing so. When it came it was a shock to see the £27 sirloin steak. Over priced and average at best. We had to ask the waitress ‘can you please take all these dirty glasses while we eat?’ The meal was already ruined and our evening out spoiled not by the food but by the shoddy way we were treated from start to finish. Even the lemon had to be sent back! No juice, fell away from the skin into mush so god knows how long that’d been there. Apparently she needed to tell the chef but brought back more of the same. We had to quibble the bill afterwards as the pint of flat cola syrup sent back was still on there. The manageress or whatever her job title is should be embarrassed at how customers are treated but unfortunately it was obvious she didn’t care and no apology given and she treated us exactly the same. If o was on my own I wouldn’t have paid so they’re lucky we did. It was one thing after another. We came home feeling like we’d been taken advantage of and I wish I’d said more at the time. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, I chalk it up to experience and move on so you can imagine how bad it was. If you like fawlty towers you may enjoy this farce but we’ll put this down to one place we’ll never go back to and will NEVER recommend. Joke of a place. What a shame."
