"Long but fair comments. Hoping we visited on a poor day as we had so much hope with the positive reviews… It is always challenging to find somewhere to eat between Christmas and New Year, but The Queen’s Head was open so decided to visit for the first time in a few years for a family (birthday) lunch. Drinks standard Shepherd Neame selection, but both Bear Island and Christmas Ale tasted of pipe cleaning fluid. Couldn’t finish a half pint of either. Food it is always a worry when there are so many options on the menu. Standard menu, burger menu, specials menu, and “the chef is also doing…”. Must have been 25 options minimum. The burgers that were ordered were bland and tasteless, having run out of “pulled pork (after 25min wait), brioche buns, tomato relish, etc”. Chips/wedges were cold. Salad leaves turning and inedible. Pheasant promised much, but appeared in a large soup/pasta bowl, absolutely dredged in a sickly gravy. Picking through to discover edible meat was a task in itself. Roast potatoes became soggy in the gravy disaster. VERY limited vegetarian options. Vegetarian burger was different to as advertised on the menu and was dry. Service long wait times for food and for the bill. Bill came incorrect, and when advised, took an age to get rectified. ALSO NOTE: Shepherd Neame gold card is NOT accepted here. Appreciate it can be a challenging time of year, but we pick places to eat based on reviews, so thought it would only be fair to share our experience. Other reviews of The Queen’s Head seem positive…."

We came here for Sunday Lunch. Food was excellent in welcoming surroundings. Very impressed with the beautiful large garden. A fabulous traditional pub.

Popped in for some lunch on a miserable afternoon, sat right near the lovely fireplace! Food was tasty and the service was great! Lovely homely atmosphere, will definitely be back!

Great village pub, with lots of fun events! Perfect place for a date night, and we have also taken the kids here for food and to enjoy the garden, our youngest was a huge fan of the pasta! Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere Voir le carte

This restaurant is wonderful for dining and enjoying drinks. The garden is beautiful when the weather is pleasant, and the inside is cozy. The food is delicious, and they offer a diverse menu for vegetarians, not just a couple of options but a variety. The staff is friendly, and the owner is fantastic as well.

Was very pleasantly surprised. Called in with a friend on the off chance for some food first time visit. Lovely embiance and noticibly was very impressed by all the staff with customer service, second to none. Looked at the comprehive but reasonably priced menu and decided on the baby ribs, skin on chips and slaw all abosutely delicious. Will certainly come again and recommend to family and friends.

I am delighted to see The Queens Head in Boughton has reclaimed its former excellence after a period of subpar offerings. Claire, the relatively new owner, clearly has a strong passion for her pub, and her latest menu is outstanding. It offers a wide variety of options, including vegan choices, all expertly prepared and reasonably priced. The garden is also well-maintained, further showcasing the attentive management. We had to preorder our lunch because we were a large group, but two of us were given substitutions without prior warning and without being given a choice to make a different decision. Substitutes were just presented to us without anything being said before we queried it. My meat was rather dry and my desert plate was badly chipped (health hazard). A friend was served desert in a sundae glass without a saucer and without a proper sundae spoon. Given the prices it was, overall, disappointing.

What a wonderful pub! Thank you for the delicious meal. They offer a large alternative menu for vegetarians/vegans, which was great. I had the lentil and mushroom bolognese and it was fantastic. The skin-on chips were amazing too! My partner got the beef, cheese, and bacon burger with upgraded loaded fries (with pulled pork) and they were absolutely delicious. I have to mention the excellent service we received from Gemma, who was hardworking and very attentive. Compliments to the chef as well. Thank you so much! xxx

"Having been to the Phoenix several times and I believe, this to be my second average review of the food and service, you 'd think they would have taken heed, but clearly not. Firstly, like most top end restaurants in London, they are reserving the right to charge for no shows £20 per head). But, what they are also doing, which is very unfair, is charging you for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking at £10 per head. If one or more of our friends had fallen ill over night it 's the flu season at the moment), they would have been were forced to go for an expensive average Sunday lunch, whilst spreading their germs to the other diners. It also poses the question, what would some do if you book a table less than 24 hours like we did) and then decide to cancel? The excuse that orders for food have already been placed doesn 't really hold water. The Sunday menu forces you to order a minimum of 2 courses at £34 per head. Some of the top London restaurants are charging less for far more opulent Sunday roasts e.g. the Jugged Hare at the Barbican). The Sunday lunch served was simply very average and not value for money. Finally, why are the desserts here, always consistently so bad? I ordered a baked cheesecake and got cream squirted on a piece of cake. When I asked what I had been served, I was told it was chef 's interpretation of a cheesecake. The menu clearly stated baked cheesecake. Not even in my wildest dreams can you interpret a baked cheesecake as a piece of cake with creamed squirted on it! This was promptly returned and replaced with a vile chocolate tart, with pastry so hard I couldn 't cut into it without the fear of smashing the plate it was served on. The chocolate was over salted and the chantilly cream served with it unsweetened. Save your money, go elsewhere."
