"What a quirky place to visit! The bed was a queen size, there were two chairs, a fridge and an en suite. Bath and shower. The floors were a bit crooked. This is a grade 2 listed building after all. You need to walk uphill to the toilet. Lol! The breakfast was awesome. Egg, sausage, bacon, beans, black pudding, tomatoes, mushroom and toast. Amazing coffee in a carafe. All perfectly cooked. Lyn and Clive are brilliant hosts really friendly and the whole stay was superb. Julie was also very friendly as a hostess, we lived the whole thing."

Family run excellent value. Great Sunday 2 course lunch with a glass of wine, beer, cider or a soft drink for £12.95. Excellent menu on other days. Very friendly welcoming.

Gluten free sicky toffee pudding and custard is Coeliac heaven. Slightly old fashioned vibe but in the sense of serving good food and providing friendly helpful service. Sat upstairs and kept finding new seating areas.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food served at a nice cozy cafe/ restaurant. I had the Kippers and two poached eggs which was a lovely choice on offer, my wife had a small English breakfast which was of a very good size. All in all a great service and lovely food.

We were running a little late for lunch but were warmly welcomed. I had a tuna mayo jacket potato followed by carrot cake and coffee. All of which was excellently done and extremely tasty. I would recommend a diversion to eat here if you are in the locality.

The lady welcomed us and also wore a mask throughout our visit. Contactless payment was great and hand santiser was available on all tables. We had a childs sandwich, small breakfast, bacon and cheese panini and Spanish omelette. All the food was amazing, the omelette was huge plus it is licensed if want drink with your lunch. Lovely for a great lunch.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
