"The Plough Inn is a charming traditional pub located in the heart of Henfield Village. During our visit with my Aunt, it was fairly quiet but the staff were all welcoming and attentive. The lunch menu had a variety of options, although we were a bit disappointed that the specials board, which was prominently displayed, was not available during lunchtime. However, the dishes we did choose - sea bass with new potatoes for my aunt and spaghetti marinara for myself - were absolutely delicious! My aunt even mentioned that she had never tasted better potatoes. We definitely plan on returning, perhaps for dinner next time so we can try something from the specials board!"

Our friends recommended this pub for Sunday lunch and we were not dissapointed. Our roasts were freshly made and cooked to perfection! Even the place was full but the service and food was excellent. Definitely we are coming back!

Sunday roast. Service fast and efficient. Friendly and good Harveys best. Only complaint was pork was belly pork and no crackling. Where did it all go? Roast chicken excellent but no stuffing. All round a good visit and will return.

Had a lovely meal out on a Tuesday evening. All four of us agreed it was probably the best meal out we have ever had. The food had such lovely flavour and the portions were of a decent size. Our waitress was lovely and very professional but could still have a joke with us. Very pleasant evening and would go here again.

We had an early dinner before going to a show and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The fish special was particularly delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. A young lady greeted us and seated us before letting us know that she was going off shift, but her colleague would take care of us. We were well taken care of throughout our meal. Voir le carte

My friends and I decided to stop by for some drinks and a light lunch on a sunny Sunday. We were pleased with the variety of real ales and white wines available. We ordered the king prawns and hummus with olives for lunch, both of which were delicious. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant, making for a very enjoyable dining experience.

Friendly service , lovely food. Only downside is that every table in the courtyard garden has an ashtray and although there were only four parties in the garden two were smoking which was unpleasant for us being non smokers. Ashtrays at the top end only would help. Dog friendly. Reasonably priced. Ciabattas come with chips rather than a few lettuce leaves.

My husband and I both ordered the steak that came with chips, mushrooms and tomatoes. When it came out it had salad and ratatouille!!! I'm not a salad person and hate ratatouille. When I asked about it, was told chef has run out of mushrooms and tomatoes, I was going to eat the steak but it was very tough, so changed my meal. We ate our meals separately and no discount for a ruined afternoon. Voir le carte

We visited today, we had a lovely roast. Paid £30 for 2 roast dinners and we're served less than a table spoon of cauliflower cheese each. We asked for some more as the portion was very stingy and then was charged £5 for an extra portion. When we queried the bill the staff member said that's how the new chef does it and slaps a tiny bit on and that was that. We also tried to go for lunch yesterday here as it was advertised open 12-4 to be told the chef was just on his way out just before 3. Unfortunately, I will not be returning or recommending. The staff were friendly, shame about the chef...

WORST ROAST IVE EVER HAD. 2 small “roast” potato’s not substantial. More like deep fried baby potato’s. There was nothing about the potato’s that screamed roast potato. Me and my boyfriend ordered a side of extra veg for our roasts. In the side of veg that comes with the roast and extra side of veg was just enough for two of us. In each veg bowl was one piece of broccoli so if we hadn’t of ordered the extra veg only one of us would of been able to have broccoli. There was a teaspoon of swede in each bowl of veg. All in all expensive for small roasts. Chocolate fudge cake was clearly bought in. Wouldn’t recommend this place atall…

"My mother and I had been following the Masterchef Pro comp ' last year and were really keen to sample some of the winner, Tom Hamblet 's, food. We travelled a 4 hour round trip for the experience. We don 't eat at fine dining restaurants often but we are foodies. Firstly, the setting of the restaurant is very lavish and comfortable with warm low lighting. That said, the dinner experience was a little too dark for my mother so that 's something to think about if you struggle with eyesight and low lighting. The service was friendly, attentive and speedy/efficient. The food: I 'll start with the dessert because that was a real pleasure for us. We both loved the flavours of Tom 's end of series winning dessert so the meal ended on a high (we ordered the Olive Oil sponge with lemon curd). I recommend not ruining your palette with the overly sweet petit four that are placed in front of you following dessert unfortunately ours were more sugar flavoured than any other identifiable flavour. Our starters and mains were very VERY underwhelming. They arrived looking beautiful, neat and tidy but failed to deliver on taste. I had wanted the celeriac themed starter but the waiting staff told me the vegan/veggie starters and mains were created by their head chef and not Tom. That was disappointing as his 3 month residency was the reason we 'd visited the restaurant. We ended up both having the lobster starters after the waiting staff recommended it highly as either a starter or an additional dish to share. The claw meat was minimal and tough and the foam mousse took centre stage on the plate. Whilst the plate had lots of textures to it, we felt it was unbalanced and generally with no 'wow ' to it. We enjoyed the coffee and rye bread with butter and pollen/fennel that came prior to this thought. I ordered the Guinea Fowl as a main after the waiter described it as a gamey, dark and tender meat. I feel like a better description to someone that hasn 't had guinea fowl before would be 'it 's like a chicken breast with a different flavour '. This is what arrived in front of me and I actually found it was quite dry and not dark at all! I would never have ordered anything that resembled chicken breast anyway so I felt ill informed about my choice. I also thought the girolles were overwhelmingly tart. I didn 't enjoy my main. Mum 's Hogget was nice but average for her too. Last comment I 've never in my life paid £6.50 for less than 1.5ltrs mineral water beware! I don 't care how much money you have it 's water!!!"
