"This was our first visit to this charming spot after passing by so many other places. It's a large, traditional old farmhouse-style country pub, nestled in the Hertfordshire landscape and just off the Alban Way hiking and cycling path. The beer garden is fabulous and picturesque, featuring beautiful old beams. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced, with a children's menu also available. The beer was competitively priced as well. Overall, we had a fantastic visit as a family. If you're walking or biking along the Alban Way and looking for a place to stop for a quick drink or a bite to eat, I would highly recommend this hidden gem."

First time here since it's been under new management and was really impressed. The food was delicious, the staff courteous and efficient and the tables were well spaced, so it felt COVID safe. Excellent value for money for this quality of food. Will definitely return.

Under new management with a new kitchen team. Their lunch menu was delicious and perfect for my birthday lunch. Welcoming, knowledgeable staff and a good selection of drinks including the alcohol free options. Easy dining with a baby and a dog in tow. Enjoyed the beef shin taco, buratta with salsa, beef tartare, and the ploughman's.

This place is the best food at a gastropub I have had in a very long time. Owen our host was amazing, the dishes were beautifully presented and tasted incredible! You could tell the team are serious about the produce and their cooking techniques made this meal a Michelin experience for a very reasonable price. It was a special occasion and did not disappoint! Will return as soon as we get the chance.

Kind of in the middle of nowhere but definitely worth the visit, the whole place is so spacious and well planned out. As the pub is more food focused there are many tables to sit at and separated rooms too. The garden is, in my opinion, the best part of the pub, its beautiful and well lit. Whilst The Plough has recently gone under new management and there is a lot of progression to still be made (such as an enhanced cocktail menu, which I was informed was in the making) I was thoroughly impressed by the pub.

fantastic pub. in a beautiful location with quieter view and a beautiful garden with many different areas to relax. the interior is welcoming and very well furnished. hunde bowls and water provided. the staff is excellent and very friendly, and there is a good choice of beer. we had the broken cod and chips that took up outside the kitchen hours and it was nicely cooked, the chips were particularly good, with a beautiful hauch of minze pure sleeved half lemon. I'm here twice now and I can't blame anything here. highly recommended.

Our first visit here after walking past it on so many occasions. Great little traditional old cottage style country pub hidden away in the Hertfordshire countryside just off the Alban Way walking cycling trail. Amazing beer garden, very quaint inside, with old beams etc.. Food was excellent and reasonably priced, kids menu's also provided. Beer was very well priced and all in all a great visit for our family. If you are walking along the Alban Way and wanted to stop for a quick beer or a bit to eat then I would definitely recommend this hidden away gem.

First time in several years I 'd visited the pub and it had changed inside, had a modern distressed gastro appearance to it but looked good. The prices I found were quite brilliant, now I didn 't eat but £4 for a pint is great in this day and age when the prices of everything is sky rocketing. The staff were lovely, never stopped working from what I saw, taking orders and delivering drinks, and as soon as a table was empty it was cleaned and disinfected. But the 'star of the show ' was Aaron behind the bar, he was great to talk to and made you feel very welcome, a fantastic chap. Nice one Aaron.

"Yammin-Yummy says. ... 5 stars ... also a rarely awarded- 'beezybonus'. . . now, where do I begin to begin with such an amazingly appealing selection of freshly prepared foods that one would naturally expect that, already cooked, sitting, waiting for the next hungry expected customers. this can sometimes cook up to 10-20-50mins before they are placed in front of them. not here. freshly cooked. now this beautiful example of a traditional 'fish chip love affair, established over generations of Friday nights, was beautifully designed to tell their mouth, tonge taste panties, please attach their belts, and then it is about them an incredible arbor ride. ... one who seems to go up just as once they decided what's going in their mouth first (at least the crispy tail end) begins their incredible journey up; as their eyebrows increase during thinking, omg that 's sooo different good, light, crispy teig as I've never tasted in my 37 years since the beginning in the food industry. And then I made the mistake of dipping my squid in the homemade tartaric acid sauce. that is when the 1st massive fear happened, as I thought, oh my days; the better then mean, re-entry, deeper, actually cure my wrist action, to ensure maximum absorption of this sweet/creamy/tart/caper filled taste, as I reached for a chip to accompany, strengthen the excellent experience I thought stupid would be a 'standard thing'. Now I took care of you like this, but I have seen on my chips a few each mouthful was an experience, depending on how I stacked the fork, hahahaha. the fish was so fresh that I was looking on my teller sand. ... to dedicate a joy to each chip. ... the muddy heaps, normally warmed, not microshaft to a mass-hotter-then-the-sun, went a tasty bite, and quickly also, for once. the lemon shattered haddock had to be tied to the plate, because this teig was so light that it almost raised to the deck. but as soon as this handmade tasty tartaric acid sauce meets, any responsible 'handler-of-the-fork', wants to make sure that its only trajectory can be swallowed in their waiting swallow. It was so good, I couldn't stand to leave a single diesel and with this tartaric acid sauce, which even made a bulky chip, was nothing left, I was ashamed to ask the cook the recipe for 'this sauce', as he made such a light oil-free beautiful teig. the staff is very attentive, courteous, with a beautiful large sitting area also. get yourself here quickly bungalows to make an ordinary experience, in an excellent exciting eating expedition into a court that we all know so well, but so different. ... enjoy."
