The Highwayman's Haunt

We have many occasions in this hotel and every time the service and quality of the food was excellent. We will always use this hotel and recommend it to others. What a jewel.

Since our last visit in summer 2017, a lot has improved. New owner? Food was excellent, beautiful and hot well presented and friendly service. Good value for money. Back to our list of regular places to eat.

Eating was okay, but service was pretty slow. Very young and untrained employees served us. We had to keep calling them for drinks or other items. They were pleasant enough, but clearly very new and inexperienced. I'm sure they'd train better.

I enjoyed the meal we had , it was very well presented and we didn't Have to wait long,the bar man was friendly and very good bringing extra drinks To us while we were having our meal. The food was very nicely cooked and I shall come again and recommend many thanks Julie c

I have used the Highwaymans a lot as I live nearby , and I have to say having changed hands recently it was the best meal we have had for a long time, friendly staff , good ambiance, and most importantly they allow dogs in the restaurant which for a dog walker it's lovely to be in the warm rather than having to eat outside, highly recommend this place .

I was very impressed with my first visit to this restaurant. The decor and ambience were stunning from the moment I walked through the door. I enjoyed sitting on the beautiful sofas and chatting with my friend as we perused the menu. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxed. After our meal, we returned to the sofas to finish our drinks and continue our conversation. I will definitely be returning and have already recommended this restaurant to my friends and family.

I would absolutely recommend this little gem of a pub to anyone. You'll need to drive to get to it and we went out our way following our last visit. This pub didn't disappoint again. The Sunday carvery is fantastic. The chef is very passionate about his food and talks about the meat he has cooked and will carve. The beef was from a breed he's not cooked with before and took the time to come over to our table for our feedback. We are planning our next visit in the summer and will be driving from South West to chudleigh just for the food.

This was my first time dining at this restaurant with friends. We had a wonderful meal and there were so many other dishes on the menu that we wanted to try. We will definitely be returning soon in order to try more of their offerings. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere and decor were pleasant. I could easily picture myself relaxing on one of the sofas with a pot of tea and a book. I would highly recommend this restaurant to friends. In fact, our friends were already talking about returning with their relatives during the week, so they may have already visited today.

We often come here for Sunday carvery which is very good so thought we would try an evening meal for my Mum's birthday. I am afraid the overall service let down the whole experience. When we arrived, instead of being taken to our table by the waitress, she just pointed and said you are at that table over there. After being to a busy bar area to get our drinks we found out that the 2 waitress standing around did not take orders so we had to go back to the busy bar again and wait to give our food orders.
