"I had a wonderful experience at this charming traditional pub. The menu was nice and it was great to see the chef in proper chef attire, which is uncommon nowadays. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were warm and friendly. I look forward to coming back again. Overall, I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere a 4 out of 5."

It looks intriguing from the outside, it really is a step back into a world forgotten. Whilst for locals, it may be welcoming not so much for out of towners.. decor and atmosphere were clearly from happier times. Price per person: £1–10 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

"When we arrived the main bar/restaurant was full of smoke, we were seated in the conservatory away from most of the smoke, we were asked three times in quick succession if we were ready to order and I ordered one starter and was given two and i refused one of them but they gave it free of charge. When the main course arrived, I had pork and one of the elements to the dish was excessively salty. When we finished the main course I asked to speak to the manager and mentioned the points I have raised and also that it was a very rushed experience that we did not enjoy. We had two coffees that I was not charged for on the final bill but I was very surprised to see a service charge on the bill which I unfortunately paid almost out of embarrassment. I will not be returning."

"This pub is fantastic, offering a friendly atmosphere and delicious food at affordable prices. I really appreciate the original charm and character of the place. Unlike some other pubs we visited nearby, this one was welcoming to everyone, including crusty old bikers like myself. I will definitely be returning to dine here again."

"We had a bad experience with the food. Beef was terrible and the kitchen had not cooked properly for long enough. They took my men from the bill and replaced my with another dish, but it ruined the birthday meal for us. I mean, while everyone was done, for example. The manager came by the end and said the kitchen wouldn't have cooked it long enough, but why didn't nobody try it? Are you sure you see if it's delicate or not if it's a slowly cooked short rib? I could say by putting in the fork as my husband could. It must be obvious when it is flattened. Lamb was apparently average for £21.50, fish and chips good. But my replacement fish was overcooked! Dark brown and hard dough! I had a bad day. The staff is lovely, but you go there to eat. We sat in the conservatory when it was a beautiful day and they opened the window for us, but then the people started moving BBQs and Dustbins and at one point it was so loud and distracting we couldn't hear right! I wanted to sit in the conservatory, but I wouldn't have if I had known it sorted out the garden. We weren't for a year when we went a lot earlier, then it was a bit hard so we stopped. We wanted to try again. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disaster."

"I had lunch with a friend. Staff friendly and pleasant surroundings. I ordered the pie which was ok. The pastry was very hard though. I struggled to get my knife and fork through it. Otherwise mash and gravy were nice and it was filling. I asked if they did home made chips and was told a definite no. She went on to say the chef would throw a fit if asked to make his own chips which was a strange thing to say. My friend had a sloppy linguine in a tomato sauce with fried chicken on top which really seemed like two meals on the same plate. She didn't like it."

"I understand that the staff were doing their best, but considering we paid full price despite a shortage of staff, I have to give this restaurant a rating of 3. We were informed that the restaurant has changed ownership since our last visit, when we had a great meal. Unfortunately, this time the roast beef was tough and extremely rare. Our dog seemed to enjoy it though. The french beans were undercooked, far from being 'al dente'. We had to use our own tissues as there were no napkins on the table, and none were offered to us. The Lemon and Lime cheesecake I ordered was bland, so much so that I had my husband taste it to confirm. It was difficult to identify the topping. We were also surprised by the price of a pint of beer when we received the bill, as there were no drink prices displayed in the bar."
