"Fantastic choice of food. Ranging from Homemade soup, chefs home smoked brisket , locally made sausage, freshly baked bread, homemade scones just to name just a few items. Gluten free clients and those with special dietry needs all catered for. A lovely warm atmosphere and staff who show care and respect for the clients. A lovely cosy place to stop and enjoy a snack or a more full filling meal. A place where you don't want to leave, especially on a chilly winters day. A welcoming smile and greeting awaits anyone who chooses to visit this gem of a place. You'll always want to return. You'll not be disappointed."

Menu looked great and great location but staff weren’t that happy doesn’t take a lot to give great service in this day and age

Lovely food, very pleasant attentive staff. We sat out in the garden at the rear which was quiet (apart from birds singing) and a lovely environment.

This restaurant is a fantastic discovery with delicious food and welcoming staff. The cherry on top is the stunning view of the Shropshire hills from their hidden garden.

Welcoming cafe. There are steps. It is an old building. Cakes wow. Black forest cheesecake wow. Scone with jam and cream perfection. 4 or so steps to toilet. On street parking. Wonderful place.

We decided to visit the Happy Bap after stumbling upon it on the main street. The baguette was incredibly fresh and tasty, and the sausage roll came with a delicious dip. The chocolate orange sponge cake was one of the best cakes we have ever had. Overall, a fantastic cafe! We really enjoyed it.

Visited Friday Midday before the special sold out,{always popular it was a delicious Tandoori Chicken on nan with Mango Chutney ,lettuce ,onion, and a zingy Lemon mayo, Just writing this making my mouth water. My partner loves the homemade Gourmet Sausage Rolls if he is not with me have to get him a takeaway, (and not eat it on the way home Food always delicious, and lots of choice .

We visited passing through for lunch. The Manger/Owner wasn’t very customer friendly, maybe because we weren’t regulars/local, as other customers that she knew were given a more friendly service. Interesting that a similar comment was made on a recent review in August. The food was ok, however I am dubious about the supposed “local specialty” sausage, they looked and tasted like normal supermarket chipolata sausages. The best part of the meal was the baguette, that was very tasty and fresh.

I recently visited one of the most incredible cafes. The baps were incredibly fresh and delicious, with perfectly baked bread. Normally, I don't have cake when I'm out because I'm often disappointed, but we decided to try the chocolate orange cake and it was absolutely delicious! It was light and packed with flavor. The Victoria sponge also looked amazing. My husband tried the sausage roll with homemade chili dip and said it was lovely. The prices were very reasonable. It was the perfect spot to relax after exploring the quaint and unique town of Bishops Castle.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
