"rebooked the garden space in the dormy house during the stay near the fish hotel. the environment was very warm and welcoming, and overall eating was very good. but the service was lacking and made us confused by reconciliation. In view of the thoughtful and extensive weinlist we could see one of our favourite mixes from South Africa on the menu. after ordering, and about 15 minutes later, the server back to say there was a mistake, and they put the wrong varietal on the list and wanted to serve us a completely différent wein from this manufacturer. we ordered another bottle in harmony with the food we ordered. but our appetizers came before our wine. wait another 15 minutes (we are now 30 minutes in our dinner without wine) and the waiter comes with another bottle saying that they have lost our bottle, but for us to drink this while we wait. no explanation and not even the wine she poured. that was the last thing we saw from our waiter, because somehow the room was busy and she took the other guests for the rest of the night. we finally got our wee who was brought to the table without the cork. strange practice to get a restaurant of this caliber. when we finished our dessert, we fought for 20 minutes to get every server to recognize us or to delete our records. So we went to the server station to ask for the bill. we have observed our server work at least seven different tabs before we had to go up a second time. when the bill came, the server did not even ask us how our dinner was. we gave our credit card and the other server took it away. she returned 10 minutes later to say that she lost the connection. she gave us the card back and canceled the processing statement and said she couldn't charge our card. she did not know what to do and asked if we were with him at the reception (even if we were not guests of the hotel) will not return."

Delicious food and excellent table service. Only negative the pre dinner drinks took ages (20 mins from ordering to their arrival). This was early on a Wednesday evening and it was not busy so rather disappointing start made up for with the meal that followed.

The chef clearly scoffs at the idea that less is more and is firmly in the camp of more is more. There was a lot going on in every dish. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn't. With the desserts, it didn't. Neither of us liked our desserts, nor understood what they we supposed to be. The server also brought me the wrong wine, which was disappointing.

when we booked this restaurant 2 months ago, the website showed a completely separate menu from the restaurant potting shed. we booked the garden space in our 2nd night because of the different menus on the website, we were very disappointed to get the same menu as we had eaten from the night before. that is very lazy and totally unacceptable. had we said we had eaten in another facility? We did a spa day at Dormy House, and it was such a treat! It was like a warm hug this winter! The outdoor hot tub, with the fire was stunning. The facilities and treatments were top-notch and we felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. Big thanks to Bobby and Fiona at the Spa for looking after us! Dinner at the Back Garden restaurant was utterly delicious. Marius, looked after us so well at the restaurant. And Alex from the bar made the most delicious margaritas we’ve had! Highly recommended!

It’s a nice venue with a great reputation but perhaps overhyped. The tasting menu was no doubt very good with a good amount of food served over the courses and most importantly of a great standard but it wasn’t very adventurous or inventive. This is perhaps because it’s quite a traditional location and offering but personally I like to try things that are new and not something I’d come across easily so this compared to other tasting menus mitchelin star) this was very ‘safe’.
