"Unfortunately we had a terrible experience at the Foxhunt between Christmas and New Year. We'd booked ahead of time to celebrate my father in law's 75th birthday. There were ten adults and three children and it was a rare family get together. Before Christmas we were pleased to receive an email advising that kids eat for £1 between the 27th and 31st December. My wife rang the restaurant to check that it would be on for our visit and they confirmed that it would. On the day we asked the waiter again that it was kids eat for £1 and he advised that he wasn't sure. My wife then went up to ask the manager and both my wife and I heard her confirm that the deal was on, she went as far as to tell us what was included and what wasn't. For example puddings weren't included. We proceeded to order our 3 year old and 9 month old a main meal on the basis that they were £1. We didn't look at any other menu and only ordered the baby some pasta based on the promotion. The Manager was the server and the person that took the order for the whole party. As a table we ordered a mix of normal menu and festive menu items. No issues were raised by the manager. At the end of the meal a waiter brought the bill to the table and specifically advised that whilst the kids meal was showing as full price it would be £1 when we went to pay. After attempting to calculate the family's contributions my brother in law went up to ask them to put the kids meals in correctly to make it easier. It was then that the waiter advised that the kids eat for £1 not available as members of the party ordered off of the festive menu. When I went up to speak to him he advised that he would get the manager. The Manager then rudely reconfirmed that the promotion was not available if anyone had ordered a festive meal. When I advised that we were told the promotion was on and no-one had mentioned the festive menu the manager attempted to throw her staff under the bus by advising that if we had spoken to her she would have told us. When I advised that it was her that had told us she deflected to advise that the email backs them up. I highlighted that we were specifically told at the beginning of the meal that it was on and that we had ordered on reliance on her confirmation. For some strange reason the manager thought that by highlighting accommodations on seating and service that she had done us a favour already. When it was clear that she wasn't going to do anything we paid the bill and left. The incident put a damper on a family celebration and none of us can fathom why they lied and why the manager did nothing to resolve the situation. Our bill came to £267 pounds and the manager was argumentative over £15. Futhermore we emailed the Harvester over the experience and have had absolutely no reply. As visitors of the Foxhunt for years we will not be going back."
