"This canal-side one bar pub is obviously a true gem in the local community, judging by the mix of customers that were there when we arrived. My pal and I came for the beer and the very nice barmaid convinced us to stay for lunch. We both chose the Roast Lamb Dinner. Although the Lamb was Steam-Roasted, it was delicious, and very tender; plus there was plenty of it; along with generous portions of Cabbage, Carrots, Peas, Roast Potatoes and Buttery Mashed Potatoes, a Yorkshire Pudding, a separate boat of Gravy plus Mint Sauce as well, it was all very fresh and well cooked and excellent value at £4.99. There is a good range of real ales that we regretted not staying longer to try more of."

Fantastic pub with great beers, great food and really pleasant bar staff. Managed excellently during the pandemic and very impressed overall with the atmosphere of the pub.

a visit on a narrow boot enjoyed a lunchtime ale, left. but so good we can go back with our boat companion. dog-friendly, which is a bonus and so good to see that it is used by the locals. would certainly look back. Voir le carte

What a disappointment we have used the Fountain for years and generally been very satisfied. Today three different ales tried and all frankly undrinkable. The food is OK and very reasonably priced and the staff are excellent but the beer! Suffice it to say we will not be returning any time soon.

The rudest old bar maid in the Black Country walked in with a small dog (and we understand some pubs don’t allow dogs) but to be pointed at and shouted OUT is appalling. Other lady behind the bar was lovely but the gangly one needs to go on a customer service course or retire for everyone’s happiness

Unpleasant woman at bar refused to serve us because it was 10 45 and we were supposed to be there before 10.45 for a last orders drink! We were told. We're made to feel very unwelcome when we had travelled there to show our Irish friend a bit of history and Black Country hospitality. Unpleasant unwelcoming. Voir le carte

The home of the Tipton slasher bare knuckle fighter. William Perry was a bare knuckle champion in the 1850 to 1857. In 1836 he trained at the Fountain Inn and is a local Victorian legend even today. The pub is nice and cosy and has got a nice selection of beers. It also serves food and there's a outdoor seating area as well.

One of the friendliest pubs I’ve even been in. Genuine welcome from owners and all their staff. Not the smartest in terms of decor ‘traditional’ better description) but excellent selection of real ales, beautifully kept, and wonderful atmosphere. Just a shame they no longer do cooked meals in evening still remember an excellent sausage and mash from 7 years ago.

"The food is really enjoyable. Some of the meat can be a bit dry in parts but generally speaking it's quite good. Is it better than what you'd get at the average chippy? Not for what it costs. Ordering two box meals and a couple of sides got the cost up to £50 with charges. Considering a large mixed meat in naan at my local chip shop is £7, it's incredibly expensive. There's far too much waste which really needs to be addressed. Every food item is at least two layers of packaging deep. With a box meal you have the outer corrugated cardboard box, then all dividers inside, then the kebab sandwich is in a box of its own, then it's in a foil wrapper, then it's in a paper wrapper. It's all needless waste and when we're all trying to be more conscious of our carbon footprint this just isn't required. There are some nice things that just aren't replicated elsewhere, their kebab bread is fantastic and very similar to a traditional Turkish pide. Their sauces are really good too. Full of flavour and balanced well with the meat but I will say there's never enough of it. Three little poxy pots is all you get.The fries are average. Nothing remarkable about them. The spicy fries are a tasty addition but this option does bump up the price but again, perfectly average.Overall I'd recommend that it's worth trying at least once but the prices are way over valued and quantity in some areas lack. If they cut down on all the needless packaging they could even bring the prices down but £15-20 for a box meal (one can of pop, one kebab sandwich, one fries and two spring rolls) it's a bit of a joke."
