"Went here today as I was wanting to find Rerrick Church and this beautiful place had been recommended to me so we thought we try it . The two ladies were lovely caring. Down to earth people who care about their customers. Two different dining rooms where we sat the was beautiful with all the local artists pictures for sale , cards etc and a massive big Anchor above our heads . Banana milkshake 5/5 or 10/10 perfect loved it Tea decent size teapot not some stupid little thing that’s looks great in a dolls house but not on a table tea was decent definitely good teabags 5/5 . Milk etc . Nice to see sugar yes proper grain sugar in a bowl on your table with its own wee spoon not these stupid packets 10/10 Fish and chip , mushy peas and salad Burger massive bid 6oz burger , coleslaw forgot coleslaw on fish , salad and crisps . To be absolutely honest we shared our meals but cleared both plated . Fish lovely , burger marvellous. Chips wife loves them I,m a chunky chip guy but I loved the crisps so nice . Salad and homemade coleslaw wife said was fabulous 10/10. Victoria Sponge first place I,ve found in Dumfries and Galloway that actually makes it right. Queen Victoria and our late Queen Elizabeth 2nd both had it with raspberry jam not strawberry jam . Happens I have a severe allergy just like our New King,s Wife Queen Consort Camila with having a severe strawberry allergy. So highlight for me was at last being able to have piece of Victoria Sponge mmmmmmm,m,m,m,mmmmmmm 20/20 homemade as well . So many takeout customers for cakes . Beautiful settings with The abbey straight across the road in Dundrennan . Price was fabulous I,m not making this up my wife was actually telling the lady price was to low she had added it up to more than she was charging but lady said nope it was this price then she rounded it down to save her change. What beautiful ladies definitely deserve a good review. Thank you . I promise not to message you at 1am asking if your open today and what hot food you have available I,ll just come as I,m coming back for the big breakfast. We never found rerrick church so we have to go back and start with lunch here at the Crown and Anchor Dundrennan"

Stopped by for a wee bit of lunch. Excellent beef burgers and salad. The coleslaw was also really good. Friendly staff. Had the dog with us, so had to sit outside but this wasn’t a problem and the staff were as attentive as if we were inside.

Fabulous B&B with fabulous hosts. The rooms are spotlessly clean, well presented and the beds very comfortable indeed. The breakfasts were delicious as was the food from the tea rooms. Jackie’s homemade Victoria sponge is to die for. Couldn’t fault a thing, everything was perfect . I would definitely stay again and if you are in the area I would highly recommend popping in for food

We had a wonderful stay at the Crown Anchor thanks to the fabulous hosts Jackie and John. Our family of three adults stayed in two immaculate and comfortable bedrooms for three nights. The rooms were beautifully presented with cozy beds and high-quality bedding. The en-suite bathrooms had spacious walk-in showers with plenty of hot water. We highly recommend booking a stay at the Crown Anchor if you are in the area, as our experience was flawless. The location is breathtaking and tranquil. The breakfasts were delicious, and we also enjoyed the food from the tea rooms downstairs. Jackie's homemade Victoria sponge cake was especially delightful. Jackie and John made us feel incredibly welcome,...

"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."
