"Visited while staying in Buxton. It was a mix of recommendation of a local (to us) CAMRA group leader and our own appreciation of Titanic beer. We visited on the Friday night of our trip: the beer was good, staff were attentive and friendly, there...was a good atmosphere. Came back on the Saturday night: it was busier (as was the whole of Buxton), staff were just as good, beer was just as good, atmosphere was lovely, the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled fabulous unfortunately can't comment on the taste as we'd just eaten at the Indian next door. It was a really good experience and would recommend to anyone visiting Buxton."

Went in for a pint on Sunday January at lunchtime the place was freezing cold ! The fire in the goldfish bowl was fizzing out , too cold to relax and eat, so moved on elsewhere.

Our first visit to Buxton whilst staying nearby in our caravan. After a quick Google, The Cheshire Cheese was our second pub to visit. We had no need to go any further, great beer, lovely staff and atmosphere, well worth a visit.

ordination lasagne and hallumi pommes. what's up, could just eat over fit, stupid, so dry, tasteless and unpleasant. fries overcooked and greasy. would not recommend eating here at all. the personal complains that they were underused, then they do not offer food if they do not have workers to cook properly. bier was okay. Called in there on a Saturday night after a show at the Opera House. The barmaids seemed more interested in chatting between themselves than serving customers and I was given Australian coins in my change. I know I should have checked but in my naivety...I just pocketed my change. This could not have been done accidentally

we called for lunch. the pub itself looks good enough, but the barman was surly and not in any case inviting. we should've taken the note and go somewhere else. we ordered sandwiches and chips. When they arrived, that was broth. my fish-finger sandwich was actually three pieces of tasteless fish in a greasy teig. there are many more beautiful places to eat and drink in buxton I would definitely avoid these.

We decided to try some of the recommended pubs which where near to the restaurant we had booked for dinner. We were not disappointed. What a range of beers from the Titanic Brewery, first class. The pub was divided into several rooms, one with a...roaring log fire. Just the ticket on a cold wet evening. Friendly, efficient service at the bar, with the beers reasonably priced. Could have stayed all evening ! Voir le carte

We stopped off for a drink on a Friday evening when staying in Buxton for a weekend. Really lovely atmosphere. We didn’t have a dog but was lovely to see all the dogs around. Th let staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was efficient. My...partner enjoyed the local beer. I enjoyed the cider. We had calamari which was average not sure what the rest of the menu is like. All in all a nice place for a drink on a wet and windy evening.

we love this place. I visited last year with the youngs on the way to Nottingham and decided to return. this time we went as a couple during a night stay in buxton and were not disappointed. it is our place with a great selection of real ales, including titanic ales. we wanted to try the great looking meal times, but had eaten too much of everything you can eat in the premier inn! the pub is cozy and had two log fires when we were there. there are no tvs hanging on us so it is not the place for their sky sports fan. will definitely be back in the near future.
