The Chequers - Bath

Another excellent evening in The Chequers. punctual table, excellent service and delicious food, as per usual. Thank you.

We didn’t have a great meal here. Burger had too much going on in it and not nice or well cooked. Starters not great. Staff and wine nice

We had a table of 8 and the whole experience was lovely. I think it’s always difficult to get a good Sunday roast. It’s no longer difficult, just go to Chequers!

The Sunday Roast Beef was absolutely delicious and available until 7 p.m., which worked out well for us! The staff was attentive and friendly. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant!

Outstanding modern Sunday lunch in a lively environment, served by great staff who work very hard. The quality of Chequers modern take on the Sunday Roast should not be underestimated. Loved by all the family including our late teen/early twenties uni student children.

The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. We both were very impressed. The staff were charming. I had a wonderful octopus starter followed by well seasoned sea bream and courgette spaghetti and tomato’s with gnocchi . My husband had a lamb starter the monk fish tail and clams.

It had been a while since I last dined at The Chequers, as I had found the food to be mediocre in the past. However, since it is a local restaurant, I decided to give it another try. I am so glad that I did because the Sunday roast was delicious and plentiful, and the service was excellent.

Fantastic. After searching for the best Sunday roast in Bath, we found The Chequers to be a top choice. We were not disappointed. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. The roasts all looked delicious, and my wife and I both enjoyed the pig belly and the brisket, which were exceptional. The sticky toffee pudding was the best we have ever had. We highly recommend this place. The quality of the food was worth more than what we paid. We are excited to dine there again and it was a great way to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary.

On entering I waited at the bar for 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. In fact, in the end I had to ask to be served. I asked them why I had been ignored and they said they were so busy. No excuse I’m afraid. Anyway, after that we were led to our table and the service was good thereafter. In fact the servers were lovely. So on to the food. My scallops looked nice but were uncooked. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like them over cooked, just to be clear, but they were jellified in the middle, ie. Undercooked. I sent them back. My fiancés bone marrow starter was exceptional however.
