Brilliant... Lovely smiley friendly staff. Easy to find.. Parking around the back... Super clean comfy rooms.. Secret garden out back...

I photographed a wedding at this venue and I cannot recommend it enough. The staff go above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly and there are lots of areas around the venue for some stunning photos. 100% recommend.

Very good hotel in a great location, end of the high street. Room was really nice, staff very friendly, and bar prices very reasonable, breakfast was very good. Free parking. I think people are to fussy and just love to moan. Would definitely stay there again. Voir le carte

The hotel is conveniently located in the center of town and offers reasonable prices. The room was exceptionally clean and well-equipped, and the bathroom was immaculate. There is a restaurant and bar on site, but there are also other dining options just a few minutes' walk away.

I remembered The Chequers Hotel from my childhood in Newbury 30 years ago, so booked here for a recent visit. It did not disappoint! The room was lovely, a nice size and very clean. Facilities were good and of a high standard. Buffet breakfast was nicely presented and fresh. The perfect place to stay for my trip down memory lane! Thank you.

The restaurant was decent overall, but the lack of an extractor fan in the toilet caused the smell to permeate the entire room. The old bath with a shower in it was not ideal, and a separate shower would have been better. Despite these disappointments, the breakfast was the best I have had so far, earning a rating of 5 stars or even higher. The wide selection was impressive. Voir le carte

My experience at the Chequers hotel was disappointing. The parking was challenging due to the small spaces, and the hotel did not match the photographs. It was in need of maintenance, with peeling paint, cracked walls, and cobwebs throughout. The shower was unreliable, the breakfast buffet was chaotic, and the coffee was questionable. Despite some positives, such as a comfortable bed and friendly staff, the overall atmosphere of the hotel was bleak. I would not stay there again or recommend it to others. It's worth investing time in finding a nicer place to stay in such a beautiful area.

This hotel has a great location, it is located in City Center. So you will find plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops. My room was small but has cosy feeling. I think, the interior of rooms can be improved as they feel a bit dated. I had issue with slow internet during my visit, it could be the location of my room. The staff was also quite nice, The room was little expensive but it depends on the season or any event. I was visiting Newbury on some even and so it was not easy to find a room in Newbury. The breakfast was nice and quite filling. I can recommend this hotel given its excellent location, breakfast and cordial staff.

Lovely place to stay, right on the high street and 11 min drive to Highclere (Downton . Hotel is as expected old, has creaky and wonky floors which us expected but adds to the charm of the historic place. Inside it has been made to look modern and have all the mod cons. Charming bar area and separate dining area. The food was divine, a nice selection on the menu. Also a secret lit up garden out the back to sit on a warm day or evening. Sofas inside are lived in and some carpets but again adds to the charm of the hotel. Depending on the room you book the sizes vary. I had a single bed,large room for one, tv. Hangers in the wardrobe.
