great eating good beer and friendly service. the Ham egg loved and chips and children and misus enjoyed their food. would definitely recommend their roast dinner in the house or delivered. they are always good.

Dinner for five in this no nonsense pub. Good food with generous helpings. Attentive, friendly bar staff. Convenient for sailors from Gosport Marina and only a short 15 minute walk from Royal Clarence marina. Definitely a well run pub.

Nice pub where sailors meet and party, in particular the Clipper trainees. Great salad plates for lunch. Perfect fish n chips for dinner and other fine food. Great beers too. Good atmosphere in and outside. Staff, in particular Rosie, very friendly and quick. Will visit again! Voir le carte

Have been here a couple of times recently, during the week I had lasagne which was the best tasting one ever then went for Sunday lunch, which you must book a table for a maximum of 2 hours, a lamb dinner with all the trimmings for £5.95 (OAP), couldn't fault it scrummy gravy. Highly recommended, looking forward to going again.

I'd passed couple of times, noting the historical aspect and finally visited after walking from Portchester. Sadly all tables inside were reserved and though warm out, sitting outside didn't give me much a flavour of the pub (but rather Gosport traffic and unruly patrons). However, the staff I spoke to at bar were friendly and next time in Gosport I hope to return.

If you want an authentic looking English pub this is it. Very typical pub grub and the beverages to accompany. Excellent value for money, the roast beef was a bit tough but portion were generous. It might be a good idea to make a reservation as 80% of the table were reserved when we attended. Wait staff was effecient and friendly. One of our favorite pubs in Gosport! Unfortunately, we hadn’t visited in a while due to COVID-19 and the pandemic. It has always been a warm and friendly place with great food, but the decor was a bit tired. During the last lockdown, the pub was renovated and now it has retained all its charm while looking fantastic! If you find yourself in the area, it's a must-try. For lunch early or mid-week, you probably won’t need to book, but definitely make a reservation for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Christmas dates fill up quickly too!

Although appearing to be very popular with diners, this pub continues to look like a traditional public house with a decent selection of real ales and lagers, beside ferry port. Very clean and comfortable with efficient bar staff. Could be challenging for impromptu drinkers to simply pop in and get a table inside though, as most inside tables had 'reserved ' signs placed on them, and were set up for dining (presumably for diners coming later in evening as none were occupied when I visited at 5pm), with only a few non-reserved tables made available in corner for those just popping in for a drink. Plenty of seating outside on street though, if weather is clement and for customers who don 't mi...

Congratultations and well done to the Castle Tavern, possibly the worse customer service I have ever experienced in 53 years. Bought two drinks 12 quid, bearing in mind The Star WETHERSPOONS would be half the price nearby for the same however....it looked a decent pub but after my money was taken by card we then realised no seating was available inside as Emmy was busy putting firmly on tables Reserve signs on all the empty tables like a bad version of musical chairs. Feeling slightly unwelcome at this point after delivering what looked like a good beer Timothy Taylor and wine, I felt the need to ask but where can my family sit only 3 of us. .....Oh you can sit in the far far corner Emmy say...
