"I recently visited this cafe in Hawes with my family on 04/06/22. Unfortunately, we were not greeted warmly and the staff did not make any effort to make us feel welcome. When I asked for a menu card, the waitress insisted that I read the one on the wall instead. The menu had limited options and our food took a long time to arrive, only to be bland and tasteless. To make matters worse, when we ordered drinks, the waitress got distracted and forgot about our order. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and we will not be returning to this cafe."

Sat outside, very good, quick, personable service. Nice coffee and cakes. Would definitely visit again next time in Hawes

Had morning coffees a couple of weeks ago, sheltering from rain. Great choice! Lovely cafe, friendly service and delicious home made cakes. Was also dog friendly. Would recommend.

Waited outside for 20 mins after being told 3 times she would be out to take our order in a minute. Was busy when we arrived but half the cafe had left and she still never came. Ended up leaving.

Four of us enjoyed a very good lunch here on a cold wet January day. The homemade soups were excellent and generous portions. Good home cooked ham and Wensleydale cheese sandwiches. Just what we needed.

My son and I had enjoyed the walk to Hardraw Force and were looking forward to some lunch. We ordered two baguettes (ham for me and prawn for him). Lovely fillings washed down with Yorkshire tea (of course). The lady serving us was full of Yorkshire cheer and everything arrived quickly.

My family from overseas were eager to experience something new, so we decided to visit this restaurant. We were impressed by the variety of cakes available, all of which were delicious. The serving of a large pot of tea added a nice touch to our meal, and the friendly and personalized service made us feel very welcome. It was truly a special treat for us all.

My visit to this cafe on a Saturday afternoon in January was disappointing. Despite the cafe being reasonably busy, there were empty tables available. However, the reception we received was extremely unfriendly and almost rude. We were ignored completely and after waiting for what felt like an eternity without any acknowledgment or service, we eventually left and went to Cafe Curva instead (who were amazing). My advice would be to avoid this place altogether.

Was really pleased we chose the baytree kitchens. My husband had the seafood chowder I had the ploughman's both off the specials menu. My husbands chowder was full of seafood and fish with fresh bread it was only £10. He didn't want it to end. My ploughman's was really good quality ham and cheese with fresh bread that was only £9. The drinks are really reasonable as well If we lived nearer we would be regulars here All the food tha was coming out you could tell it was freshly prepared.

Situated in the centre of the village, this small unassuming cafe is the type of place you want to find on a cold February lunchtime. The menu is huge, it really is, with every kind of cafe food you could wish for. I went for the blue cheese and cauliflower soup. It arrived in short order, steaming hot and thick enough to stand your spoon in. Delicious. The young lady who served us was spot-on, efficient, smiley and dynamic. Prices are reasonable (sodas are not cheap) for the quality of food served. Go support ‘em and enjoy their hospitality.

"We arrived frazzled because we drove around the grounds in the dark not knowing where to go. The signage inside the grounds is no help at all. Allow time for this if you haven't been before. Fortunately we had because we wanted a pre dinner drink in the bar before we ate. Even when we did arrive we weren't sure if we had arrived at the back entrance because we stood for ages with no welcome or acknowledgement. A very disappointing start to our evening. When someone did come they didn't take our coats. We went through to the snug for a drink. They gave us menus and went away. Later came back for our order. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Then very quickly afterwards we were asked to go through to the restaurant. We had only had a couple of sips of our drinks and it was still prior to the time we had actually booked our table for (7.30pm). We felt rushed. The food came and was fabulous. I had the beetroot starter which had beautifully cooked beetroots and some pickles. It also had a grain through it. I couldn't remember what the grain was so asked a member of staff. She didn't know so went away to ask and came back saying it was probably buckwheat....probably! My main was pork belly with parsnip and an apple reduction. The pork could have been cooked a little longer. I think belly needs to be very well cooked until really soft. The top skin was impossible to cut through as it was not crisp, I couldn't eat it. A steak knife would have helped. Having said that it was still a good dish which could have been excellent. We had sides of mashed potato and greens with pickles both superb. The presentation of both dishes was innovative and inviting. Portion size was good too not tiny portions of fiddled with food which I much prefer. The service was not as polished as the food. There was no obvious manager and we had different servers which is never quite as good as one for the entire meal. The servers were scruffy not appropriate for such a lovely building. Overall it was OK but could have been superb with more attention to some details. Service: 2 Location: 3"
