"This restaurant in Barmouth is a hidden gem. We had a fantastic meal and enjoyed a relaxing evening with a delicious bottle of wine. The menu had great options, even for someone like me who avoids certain foods. My husband enjoyed the plaice, while I loved the chicken schnitzel with creamy leek crumble on the side. The bounty dessert is a must-try for coconut lovers, especially with a splash of coconut Bacardi rum poured over the top. We love visiting Barmouth out of season and can't wait to return. Thank you."

"It's such a shame to be writing the negative but honest review. My partner and I went here a few months ago and were blown away by the food, the view, the atmospheric and the service. All of which were excellent. We own a caravan nearby and we rarely get the opportunity to use it. So this evening we managed to get away for just one night, we decided to book this fantastic restaurant for 6:45pm and were looking forward to our dining experience and the remainder of the evening together. Upon arriving we were seated almost immediately and served with a drink. We then ordered starters and mains and were greated a short time later by fabulous food. It was at this point that things went down hill. After our arrival, two large parties and one party of four arrived. All of which were served with their starters and mains while we sat there waiting at a table that hadn't been cleared, we hadn't had drinks replenished and we hadn't received our mains. 8:20 pm arrived and still we hadn't received our food, nor had we been asked if we'd like more drinks. It seems that this restaurant prioritises the larger parties that are spending more money, rather than treating ALL paying customers equally. We left the restaurant having never received our meals and having spent what should have been a romantic break both hungry and being ignored. So disappointed with this treatment and disappointed that our rare opportunity for a get-away was ruined. Excellent food bht seriously lacking in attentiveness. Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3"

"We dined as a family of five for Sunday lunch, 3/9/23. The restaurant is situated on Hendre Coed Isaf Holiday Park, a very well kept static caravan holiday park which has a pool for residents and a pirate themed play park. We reserved a table, and were shown to it promptly, we were almost the furthest table from the window but it was great weather and you could just about see the sea. There are really a handful of tables with a view (I hadn't requested one. We all had roast dinners (Turkey/Beef which looked like a very large portion, especially the children's portion, however all the adults finished their delicious meals off, and the children's was happily boxed up by the staff at the end of our meals. We had desserts, the ice cream was good quality, the panna cotta was delicious and the crumble cake (I'm told was scrumptious. The service was great, attentive but not intrusive. The terrace outside had beautiful views, and was a lovely place to have a relaxed drink."

"Myself and my friend were visiting the area for a short golfing holiday. We set out to try and find a restaurant or pub that served something a little better than pub grub and pizza. Our first two evenings were spent at nearby pubs, they were fine but the menu choice was limited and it was ok pub grub at both. We settled on the Norbar having driven passed it and like the location and general look of the place. The online menu looked good so we booked in for a Wednesday night, the only night they were open during our stay. Firstly the location is beautiful, high on a hill overlooking the countryside and the sea. We were greeted by some lovely staff and when it was pointed out that I was deaf and would struggle to hear, the waitress put herself out to communicate and find a suitable table away from noise such as music speakers, which is unusual and very much appreciated. The menu isn’t massive but a good selection of meals which would appeal to most people. We had fish starters and mains followed by a dessert and I have to say we were very pleased with everything we ate. All the food was tasty and well presented. The restaurant was almost full on a Wednesday evening which, must be testimony to its quality amongst a desert of quality restaurants in the area. If I ever go back to this area this restaurant will be on my must visit list for eating."

"We booked a room Having toured Wales for a couple of days, believing; quite wrongly that it would be amazing. We originally booked a 91 per night room, pricey as just b&b. Dear God what a run down awful place. This is not a Hotel It is far from it Awful!! The room we booked was smaller than our office. We work all year and time off is precious and expensive Do Not Go Here It is just a run down house 15 20 mins walk from Barmouth we asked for a better room and were told that it would 115 per night for a premium room photos to follow!!! No service Bar was closed at 6.15 pm when we left and closed at 10.00 pm when we returned, The bar man was adamant that it shut at 10pm, he was quite rude. It completely ruined our anniversary. The menu; entitled A La Carte Has absolutely nothing A La Carte about it Someone needs to explain to them the actual meaning. Over priced pub food a disgrace Grilled dover Sole and Chips is 22.95 (London prices No service no bar awful place We had unfortunately pre paid for the basic room or would have walked away. First time in my life that I have refused to pay for the up Grade left feeling **** and annoyed Just don 't do it !!"
