"Stayed at Gleneagles so booked into try their various offerings. Booked this for a Monday night hard to get a table despite it being half empty but at the last minute they could easily fit us in at the time we wanted… make your own mind up on what they were playing at! Waiter super friendly and attentive thought decent start despite mediocre reviews. That’s where the good bits ended. £100 for 3 courses excluding sides. Reasonable selection for every course with caviar needlessly added on at the drop of a hat for a hefty fee. Food was poor. Starters were perhaps the best bit and they were not great! Onion tart and a cheese soufflé. Onion tart sweet with nice accompaniments but luke warm so made it an unusual eat. Cheese soufflé was eggy and scrambled not nice at all. Onto mains duck and the roast of the day beef short rib. Beef was tasty with a nice subtle mustard sauce. The duck was cold and uninspiring for somewhere trying to be elite. The sides were a disaster! First they brought the wrong ones then said have them anyway we will get yours. These came as we finished the main course. I had said not to bother as we were practically finished but they still gave us them. They shouldn’t have bothered as the potatoes were rock hard, I don’t think they had really touched the pan. They were also tasteless. Dessert was a take on a Jaffa cake and a souffle. The chocolate orange dessert was far, far too big which made it a tough eat. The soufflé wasn’t that light and eggy like the starter. Needless to say we didn’t hang around and asked for the bill. The head waiter advised he had removed the cost of the sides as we had ordered more but they took a while to arrive! I politely explained that it was the mistake of HIS staff as they had brought the wrong sides and that I had instructed them not to bother getting the correct ones. He explained he was not aware of that. I signed the bill wishing we had removed the tip but alas the main waiter covering our table was very good. Overall 5/10. They are trying to be something they are not. Fine dining this is not. For the price point the food is poor, cold and uninspiring. Surroundings are pleasant with live music. Staff attentive but with a head waiter not fully aware of what is going on. Disappointing to be accused of ordering more sides when we didn’t and because they took so long they were doing us a favour by removing them from the bill! Don’t waste your time or money coming here. Spend more and get a table at Andrew Fairlies where they do know how to treat you and food or go to the steak place!"

I had breakfast at the Strathern following an evening at the hotel. The service was excellent, with very welcoming and friendly staff. The food selection was impressive, and the Eggs Benedict was particularly delicious.

This is a fine dining experience with fine dining prices. Sadly, the service was inconsistent with either too many staff or no one to be seen. The food was delicious. The smoked salmon and scallops starters were fresh and tasty. The roast from the trolley was cooked to perfection. The sweet was a bit of a letdown, and the £13 supplement for cheese seemed a bit of a rip-off

Having breakfast at the Strathearn is an indulgent experience that should be savored. Spending a few hours in the luxurious atmosphere, enjoying the wide variety of deliciously prepared dishes is pure decadence and truly immersive. In my opinion, this is an experience that should be enjoyed sparingly to fully appreciate it and avoid gaining too much weight. Absolutely fabulous. Voir le carte

This restaurant is consistently rated one of the best in the UK, and possibly in the world. Our dining experience was so exceptional that we have already made a reservation to return on Friday. The ambiance is top-notch, with a large, elegant Victorian-style dining room featuring live piano and vocal performances on Saturday nights. Despite being a party of 9, the service we received was impeccable in every aspect, with the highly skilled and courteous staff attending to our every need. The food was truly outstanding, with a starter of smoked salmon, a main course of beef wellington, and a flawless chocolate dessert. We cannot fault the food, giving it a perfect score of 10/10. Thank you for...

We visted yesterday for Sunday Lunch, the whole experience was almost faultless. We arrived early, greeted as usuall by the fantastic valet parking team. Heading through to the bar for pre-drinks which we loved, the service was attentive! Heading through to lunch the host greeted us and sat us in a windo seat which was lovelty. The sommelier was knowledgebale and provided my wife with alcohol free options, I jumped straight into the Californian reds! The food was exceptional from start to finish, the trolley service provides that classic joy of hotel dinning! We had a slight issue with overcooked roast beef on our main course it was delat with immediately, our server quickly replaced both me...

My wife and I enjoyed a one night stay at the hotel in November. We've been to the hotel a few times before for afternoon tea mainly and this was our first overnight stay. We had dinner at Andrew Fairlie's but came here for our breakfast. The restaurant has a classy and welcoming feel to it with high ceilings and soft furnishings that absorb the sound so the restaurant doesn't feel noisy. It's somewhere you want to spend time in and it's really charming. I imagine it's just as atmospheric for dinner so may be in future we'll try here for dinner. The breakfast buffet was exceptional with a wide variety of hot and cold options. Children are made very welcome with their own little station. We e... Voir le carte

This is not the restaurant it was. It used to be a special experience dining here. Not any more. Now you can actually feel it 's your wallet that is the priority. Over recent years in particular, (maybe since it came under new ownership the prices have gone steadily up while the portion sizes have gone steadily down. It is now over priced. They 're trying to have their cake and eat it by trying to accommodate families with children (of ANY age, at any time in the evening , couples trying to have a romantic dinner and everyone in between. That 's a recipe for some unhappy guests. The service standard has fallen (too many trainees and not enough experienced staff around. It 's a glorious room...

My Wife and I booked a night in the Hotel, with a dinner booking in the Strathern Restaurant on the evening that we stayed. We were disappointed that the earliest time available for dinner was 20.45pm at night and were told that an earlier time could be available and to ask at reception when we checked in. I also phoned reception twice prior to our stay to see if we could eat earlier and was told “there were no earlier times available”. When we checked in to the Hotel we were given a time of 18.30pm which was probably a good deal earlier than we wanted, but we took the reservation at 18.30pm. We were also told to produce my golf membership card when we went down to dinner to have the members...

"We visited to see the Beatrix Potter Exhibition with family who were visiting and spent a lovely hour going around the exhibition, however our nice time was rudely interrupted by the elderly lady working in the cafe with dyed black curly hair. We have one child with serious allergies, so instead of one child feeling left out and risking cross exposure, we packed safe snacks for all the kids going anywhere with allergies is an absolute nightmare, so we always do this. Most places are trained and appreciative of how hard it is to eat out with allergens and happy to make reasonable adjustments for this. All four adults ate from the cafe. When part of our order was delivered, we were told “this isn’t a picnic area, you can’t eat your own food, you wouldn’t take food in to McDonald’s” (whilst looking at the 2 year old eating her snacks) when I responded yes I actually would, we have a child with allergies, she asked if it was serious allergies to which I said yes and she scoffed and left, no apology, nothing. I must add that whether the children would be eating or not, they would still have to sit at the table and take up the same amount of space. Would the children also be prevented from sitting because they didn’t buy from the cafe? Still waiting on my food order twenty minutes later and having already finished my coffee and frustrated at the wait, I asked for a refund as we now felt hurried to leave because of how upset she was at the children eating snacks at the table without purchasing them in their cafe. I got the refund for my missing meal and we left without going to the shop or seeing the other art, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. We spent just shy of £100 in the place and to be spoken to like that was horrible. The elderly employee with dyed black hair really needs some training on customer service and manners. The way she looked at us as we left was awful, we will not be returning. This place is not welcoming of children or those with allergies I dread to think how they would react to someone who is tube fed, probably told to eat outside just avoid."
