Steki Taverna - Carte

The fiancée and I were looking for somewhere for dinner in Portsmouth before a concert at the Guildhall.

Recently renovated, this is one of my favourite restaurants in Portsmouth. Consistently great service and food, never fails to impress.

I had wanted to visit this Mediterranean restaurant for years and finally made it there when I treated Mama P to Mother's Day lunch there and we weren't Voir le carte

Really lovely restaurant with great staff and terrific menu. Our food was delicious and filling, the portions are generous. We really enjoyed our visit and would come again

The restaurant was quite quiet on a Wednesday, which meant it lacked a bit of atmosphere. The waitress was friendly but lacked enthusiasm. The food was enjoyable as we had all three courses. We ended up staying until closing time just chatting.

The food is nice and has improved since my last visit. We opted for the Cypriot meze, at around £29 per person. Great selection of starters and average portion of some meats were served. All other tables were given a free shot with the bill, apart from us. Wasn't disappointed but not impressed either. Voir le carte

The food was okay, no problems there, but I feel like the restaurant has lost some of its old Greek charm and the staff seemed very much in a rush. I have been here many times over the past five years and the food is still great, but I hope they don't forget their roots and maintain the family atmosphere and friendliness.

This modern and clean restaurant offers generous portions of Greek cuisine. The moussaka was particularly large, with one lady at the nearby table receiving 50% more than she could eat. We enjoyed dishes such as calamari and pork gyros, all of which were delicious. The only downside was the price of the small bottled beers, which were £4.95 each. This added up quickly if you had multiple beers, increasing the overall bill.

so disappointed....we were stuck on a table on the side ,almost a corridor next to the bar. ordered a bottle of house white wine for just under £20 and a 500ml bottle of weak watery wine came....they should have mentioned it was a 500ml on the menu. I complained and the waitress went to change it to a Pino Gricio at just under £25...so expensive for a standard bottle of wine. The greek owner obviously had an issue with this as i heard him say something about the wine before was white...i asked if there was an issue and he made some comment and so we got up and left. not a cheap menu either and when we ordered we had to remind the waitress that we wanted fries as the choice as she did not see...
