"we went for a family christmas meeting meal and it was the first time that each of us had been there. we chose it because we have the family of the almost cat of the iow and the pub is just opposite and looks attractive and welcoming. it was very busy in this night, but the staff was brilliant and we didn't have to wait long for our food, which was all delicious and well cooked. they have a good choice of crying, ales and beer and the ambiente des pubs is old and cozy. they have large TV screens with sport on when someone wants to see, and we were also very impressed by the toilets that were very clean in view of the crowds in the pub, and had a very good decor. we will definitely come back and will recommend this pub to everyone."

great, lively place. since 1980, when I came together, it is still to be the place! great eating, great atmosphere the bar staff are first-class. travel them from leicester at least once a year it is the first place we go. love it

Had a lovely chicken sandwich today couple of drinks .and even with the power cut all was well thanks to Paul he really looked after every one great staff think you guys when we call back to Portsmouth we are sure to call on a visit x

Fabulous atmosphere, great staff. Brilliant stop to have a drink in good company. Flat level entrance. Opposite bus station, and train station and excellent for visit to old navy base. Very old traditional pub. Car parks nearby food sold.

fantastic pub, fantastic staff, but above all fantastic rental. I enjoyed working my time behind the bar there, great atmosphere, eating nice too. it is not yet back since it was refurbished, but it is definitiw on the cards. worth a visit! x x x

Lovely welcoming staff Very busy and they handled everyone in order Loved it that much came back again today to eat Was told food would be at least half an hour which wasn't a problem but actually came out within 15 minutes and was lush Would highly recommend this pub for food/drinks

back for another family dinner. the first time was Mother's Day and the staff went out of the way to accommodate us all, although we had not booked. today again eating was delicious and the personal cares for everyone needs without asking. great food for great prices and great staff. many thanks.
