The unbelievably slow service was complemented by the rudeness of the waiters. Apparently, you can't order a beer and a steak because they're too busy to take the orders. Food was not bad, but surely not the best in HD

Not located in the old town in the center, not so obvious to find. But when you do, you are rewarded! That is, if you like traditional German food. Got the impression that it is very popular, lots of people, good atmosphere. n.b you can...only pay with cash, no credit cards. Fast and friendly service, don't wait to get seated, take a place if you see one that is not occupied.

This restaurant was a short walk from our hotel and was great. It was pretty busy at but we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table. Provided with English menus. Most mains were presented as Fried Potatoes with..... other things on the menu...included Spaetzle and salad. Beer was usual German “fantastic” and wine by the glass had plenty of choice. Both had a schnitzel (one turkey and other pork). Both were perfectly cooked, not dry and good sized portions. Was a good dining experience in a very buzzy atmosphere. Loved it.

Restaurant should not be listed as gluten free. They have no special gluten free food. They are like every restaurant and offer naturally gluten free items. I was very disappointed to make a special journey there to try their gluten free menu only to...be told they do nothing special after he clarified with me that gluten was flour. Other than the whole not gluten free thing, it is a cute restaurant with a intimate outdoor garden. It is very much a spot locals go to. This is a lovely quaint restaurant in a pretty residential area of Heidelberg. Our hotel was about minutes walk away so I called to check if I could reserve a table. The response I got was a short and not so sweet “not a...chance” and the phone was hung up. However having eaten here during previous visits we decided to persevere and walked in on spec. The restaurant was very busy in fairness but we were seated pretty quickly. The waitress was very welcoming and friendly. The menu is limited but the food was very good, especially the schnitzel. Definitely worth a visit for good homely food. Perfect on a cold winter’s night.

I live around the corner of this place and love it. It's down to earth, honest and friendly service and the food is always good. Rumor has it those are the best fried potatoes in the whole of Heidelberg! They make fantastic desserts if you...still have room seeing that their portions are generous and will actually fill you up! They have changing beers along with some regulars and nothing beats their steak with fried potatoes and salad alongside a radler (beer mixed with sprite). It is very fairly priced, especially for Heidelberg. There is no wanna-be or fake feeling it's just good food at a nice place where you can meet your friends for a Feierabend beer!

I’m not sure why the people who gave this place a negative review did so. We had a wonderful experience with quick service. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, we were seated right away and taken care of very adequately. One thing that Americans...seem to forget is that meals in Europe are not rushed and the service is ‘as needed’. They will basically leave you alone unless you signal for something and then it’s there. They will not rush you in eating or having a relaxing time with the people you might be with. This restaurant is no different. The meal was fantastic and the dark beer very good! Give it a try and if you can make reservations, perhaps you should. Voir le carte
