"This restaurant has changed ownership and is now known as Billa's. We booked a table here on Saturday evening, when we arrived the outside seating area had been overbooked so we were sat inside the restaurant this is currently not allowed under Wales' guidlelines, and to be honest I wish we had just walked out at that point, there ended up being 15 people seated inside. I genuinely felt so sorry for the 3 staff working there that evening, there was no manager in sight to help them serve customers both inside and outside, and they were running around like headless chickens receiving multiple complaints from every table inside about slow service, order mix ups etc they clearly had no table plan for inside (since we were seated last minute) and as a result the wrong food was given to the wrong tables. One couple got up and left before their food was served. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks, which arrived after our starters. Again, I want to stress that I do not blame the three staff at all, the blame lies fully with the non existent management who overbooked the restaurant and left them to deal with the mess. My partner ordered a calzone, and when this was served it was completely raw on the inside, he sent it back and asked for carbonara instead as this was quicker to cook. The food overall did not live up to the standards of the previous owner. Finally, when it came to paying the bill, the calzone was still on it, when the staff had said they would remove it for us. My partner went to the bar so this could be corrected, and the owner spoke to the staff member who was re doing the bill, he told her to charge us for the carbonara that was a replacement for the raw calzone some people may disagree, but I believe that if you are served RAW food at a restaurant or take away etc, then that meal should be replaced free of charge! In total we wasted £59 on a subpar meal. I am thoroughly disappointed in Billa's, it has clearly gone down hill since the change of ownership, and I shall not be eating here again and will tell others to steer clear. It's such a shame as Aberdare itself has so few restaurants open."

"What an incredibly friendly place! The ladies at the bar, along with the owner Penny, are warm, welcoming, and very helpful. The food is absolutely amazing—I had a fantastic mixed grill that was cooked to perfection. It tasted incredible, and I left feeling full. It was definitely worth every single penny and made for a delightful meal. I can't wait to try a Sunday roast; I’ll be back very soon! Many thanks for the wonderful hospitality and great food. "The reality is so far from their description that I’m surprised they haven’t been questioned by trading standards for lying. The waitress bar person (not her fault needs training) had no clue about anything. Took 15 minutes to get a cocktail because she kept running out the back to get information. I asked what the soup of the day was and she didn’t know so had to go and check. Then asked what the curry of the day was and she said “I think it’s chicken”, I replied “chicken what” and she said “chicken curry” . You couldn’t make it up. I then asked if the lamb shank was fresh and local and she said “yes I think so” so that’s what I ordered. The lamb arrived 10 minutes later and was awful. Tough as cow skin and had clearly been frozen and or microwaved. The mash was like school dinner mash and the veg had also been frozen. The following morning we went for breakfast and it was the cheapest nastiness ingredients I’ve tasted. The sausages we wet and were clearly about 10% pork and the bread that had been put next to the toaster was still frozen in the middle. I would rather starve than ever set foot in this place again."

"Myself and my husband have just walked out of here! We sat down for 25mins and never got served. I heard them say there was only 2 girls serving today, however one looked at us numerous times though never acknowledged us. The other girl didn't even look at us. In the meantime, the restaurant filled up with people. A couple sat down on the table… More"

"When we come here it's always a nice warm place to come and eat out instead of having to cook and in my budget to we always seem To come for breakfast can't go wrong really used to also have a roast dinner on a Sunday but don't go here for the traditional roast any more they stopped the cooked dinner for some reason they stopped spoiling us so much, the staff always go above and beyond and the toilets get a 10 from len I'll give an extra star on review if they do the right thing and bring back the roast dinners again."
