Roka Aldwych - Carte

We chose this place as we were watching Tina turner the musical nearby. Makis and yakitoris were great, tempura ok but decent portions. Interesting cocktails too. Everything was reasonably quick as I guess they expect diners to want to leave on time. Great food and service. Nice ambience throughout.

Never written a review before, but felt like this was needed. Every time we asked waitress a question, guessed the answer, always had to go and ask someone and never came back. I am coeliac and every course was covered by spinach or a salad. Could not accommodate anything, no course altered. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE GLUTEN FREE. Would not recommend

Unfortunately I came here for my birthday and was surprised by how average this place was. This place attracts loud ghetto British people fake fan, turkey teeth, bodycon and Prosecco to the roof (IYKYK). The food was very average but pretty expensive. And the service was very very slow. I won’t be coming back as there are far better places for a special occasion. Voir le carte

The service was terrible and the food was not worth the price at all. Everything we ordered came out at once within 10 minutes, the waiter was not attentive and forgot our wine order. They never checked on us to see how the food was or refilled our water unless we asked. The food was mediocre for the high price and we were not even acknowledged by any staff when we left. We will not be returning.

For the prices they charge, the food is distinctly average and there are much better options at a similar or lower price range (e.g. Sticks and Sushi). The service was also extremely slow as we had to wait around 1 hr 30mins for some small and simple dishes. This meant we had to inhale the dishes so as not to miss our show. The decor is nice enough but it just feels like this place is trying f to be something that it can’t achieve with the service and food. Perhaps my experience but it felt like it was full of hen-do style parties. Left feeling disappointed at a not-so-speciali birthday dinner for my wife.

I have always raved about ROKA to everyone I know but I have only ever been to the Canary Wharf restaurant, until recently when my family and I decided to try the Aldwych one. Never again. The place was absolutely heaving that it was so loud you could hardly hear what people on your table were saying. We told the waiter that I had a chilli allergy, when it came to the starters being served I asked which had chilli on, the waiter genuinely just shrugged his shoulders and walked off. Some of the starters were served with our mains. The service was incredibly slow and we were often sat with empty glasses (at a bottomless brunch). Just came back from lunch at Roka. Completely poor service with the waiters unable to explain the menu. What 's the lunch menu? Well we have a lunch menu and a (makes gesture with hands) very big menu . Food was average with some strange touches like adding truffle to yellowtail tartare. Could not taste the yellowtail which is probably why no one serves it with truffle. Shrimp popcorn was ok, but served with a spice mayonnaise that was inedible spicy. Upon leaving we realised that despite ordering the set menu they had provided us with 6 or 7 smaller fishers at a la carte prices which we thought the waiter was describing from the set menu. We went to this restaurant for brunch and found the food to be decent, but the service was lacking. The portion sizes were small, with sushi being served two pieces at a time. It seemed as though one sushi per round was allotted per guest. The service was slow and forgetful, with frequent reminders needed for starter orders. Our mains were brought out without checking if we were ready, and arrived at different times. Once mains were served, we were unable to reorder starters. It appeared that more attention was given to refilling alcohol at other tables rather than attending to our needs. We finished before our two-hour booking was up, which made us feel rushed. This restaurant review is about the worst service the reviewer has ever experienced. They had made a reservation for the pre-theatre menu, which they had enjoyed at the Charlotte Street branch before. Despite being told by the reservation team that moving their table to 6.30pm would still allow them to have the pre-theatre menu, they were initially told by a waiter and the assistant manager that they could not have it. After some back and forth, they were eventually allowed to order from the menu. However, all the food came out at once except for the final course. When the reviewer's chicken dish arrived without the rice, they had to call over the waiter to address the issue. The salmon dish... Voir le carte
