Restaurant La Meteorite

Visited twice during holiday season and had excellent meal both times. Terrace is lovely, but also good inside restaurant later in season.

Owner Daniel runs an excellent quality restaurant bar and hotel. Excellent food, (duck in particular), good choice of draught beer, helpful quality staff and first class service.

We paid quite a lot of money for a very average meal here. The staff were ambivalent, the courtyard needed tidying, table settings were uninspired and the wine could have been cooler. It was busy and full of lovely diners - it just wasn't for us.

Ate here while visiting the Night Market, set menu of €25 for three courses. Food well cooked and presented, Crab & Avocado Terrine to start, actually tasted of crab; the local beef was cooked to order and arrived as requested. Pud was of the quality you expect in France. Staff very friendly and helpful despite being rushed off their feet with the extra trade from the Market. Possible downside, maybe better to avoid during the Night Market. We will eat here again, overall 9 out of 10, but no one gets 10! Voir le carte

Je ne suis pas sûr, rétrospectivement, pourquoi j'ai même réservé pour rester ici - à part le prix qui s'est avéré être une folie! La chambre était petite, moyenne, et la salle de bain avait des problèmes - le bouchon était coincé dans le lavabo. La douche - essayez d'éviter de mouiller le sol. J'ai dû sauter le petit déjeuner (qui était optionnel) et j'ai quand même été facturé. Oh... et on ne nous a pas donné le code pour rentrer la nuit - heureusement quelqu'un était encore debout pour nous laisser entrer à 23h. Je ne reviendrais pas ici!

My wife and I ate at the meteorite a number of times during our stay in rochechouart. On our first occasion I ordered the duck breast and my wife had the blue cheese burger - simply delicious. The duck was succulent and the burger was gourmet and French - brilliant. We returned a couple more times and thoroughly enjoyed our experience each time. The rugby World Cup was also on during our stay and we were able to watch a number of games in the bar section (where we actually preferred to eat - as it is less formal and has a good atmosphere). The owner Daniel and his staff provided fantastic service and certainly made us feel at home. Highly recommended.

Second time i've stayed here and Daniel, the owner makes you feel welcome. My French isn't great but Daniel's English is very good. Cheap and cheerfull but i really rate the food. I was travelling alone but had stayed with my wife before and liked it so decided to book again.Friday night i had the fish and chips which was cooked perfectly and the fish was beautiful and flakey.Saturday for starter i had the fried cheese with lettuce and small cuts of bacon. Delicious. For main i had fillet of beef with root vegetables which still had their crunch. Possibly not to everyones liking but i prefer my veg this way. Skipped the dessert as i was stuffed.The bedrooms are quirky and this is not a 5☆ or... Voir le carte
