"What to say about this place? We just went there for Friday dinner to celebrate the start of our holidays. It is situated in a historic building near Schwerin Castle in the centre of town. There is ample space to sit outside, but at this...time of year, it still tends to get chilly at night, so we preferred to sit inside. At the entrance there is a little wine shop and the interior tries to be modern with very high ceilings. As it is asparagus season in Germany, we went for the asparagus soup for starters. Unfortunately, there was bacon in the soup, which was not mentioned on the menu. That meant my vegetarian girlfriend could not eat it. I tasted the bacon and it was so heavily cured, it was unedible. Shame. Such a real shame. The waiter, who took away our dishes neither offered an apology nor made any attempts to rectify the mistake. The main was white asparagus with new potatoes and melted butter; a Schnitzel on top for me. The totally curdled Hollandaise sauce managed to completely ruin our culinary experience in Schwerin and left us utterly underwhelmed and unimpressed. On top of that, the food was drowned in dried edible blueish little flowers. Needless to say they could NOT reverse the damage previously done to the food in the kitchen. When we asked for the bill, the waiter had not deducted anything of the bill, so embarrassingly, I had to ask him to take off the soup. He sounded surprised, as if we had not previously told him what was wrong with the soup in the first place and replied: why, the soup was good ... I was lost for words for a change (this does not occur very often). In the end the grotty service and the rotten food lets this place irreparably down and that waiter deservedly did not get any tip from us. Serves him right, eh? Can one be any more disinterested in their own guest's wellbeing and satisfaction? Even so, how about the restaurant's reputation? Evidently, they still have lots to learn... I have been to many places in and around Schwerin now and regretfully one has to testify this is the culinary Nirvana of Germany with little or nothing happening that could excite a gournet's palate."

Schwerin est connue pour son château époustouflant, ses lacs sereins et son riche passé. Un plat typique de la région est la Rote Grütze, un dessert fruité à base de baies rouges.
