"Great atmosphere, good food. This place can never be impressed. The food is always top notch, and well presented. Staff and very friendly, friendly and helpful. The Sunday carabin is excellent, and even a carvery and delivery service that is as good as the meals served on the premises. We had a large number of frying carousel dinners to take, both roast beef and turkey and ham. The meals were, if a very high standard, well presented in film containers. The portion size was very generous, and the selection of vegetables (boiled beautiful) was very good, the potatoes were rich and had great taste, the roast potatoes were very delicious, clear fresh with a wonderfully crisp outer and perfectly boiled, soft center. Meals were served with engraving, and additional portions engraving were desired for those who wanted more. The roast beef was cooked for perfection, with a great taste of a sea red exterior and a beautifully delicate melt in the mouth center. Very generously dimensioned Yorkshire puddings were packaged separately. The turkey and ham part was moist with a fantastic taste and served with a delicious filling. These meals are very impressive food supplements, and are appropriate for the quality and generous portion size."

Food wasn't that bad, just very salty, for my liking.

Food was really good, service was a bit lagging but mostly due to the place being busy. Overall a good experience

The Sunday roast wrap was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was fantastic - quiet but it seemed like a special occasion. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Our food took some time to arrive, about 25-30 minutes of waiting. However, when it finally came, it was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't find anything wrong with the food, and the cocktails were also very good.

Young staff left us waiting for a while.. just need more experience and training… Large puddle from men’s toilet made walking to the ladies slippy and dangerous when using stairs… took a while Before it was cleaned up … All in all ok .. will be back and will recommend

Sports bar, very loud with all tvs going at once. Fine for a football lovers atmosphere. Limited menu. Dogs permitted. If your a pet lover then that's fine if you are not so keen on animals about when your eating then not for you. Stuck in a corner with a big dusty picture frame at risk of falling on our dinner.

Soo disappointed ordered 4 meals only 3 came waited 4 mins went up to complain to be told staff run off their feet. Don’t think so. Not that busy. So waiting messages another 10 mins, I went up again to be told there was only 3 meals ordered ! No, the waitress asked twice what my sons order was. Said it wont belong 12 mins later it arrived! Member of staff said he would take the price of the dinner off the bill.. alas! It wasn’t take. Off . So he produced another receipt with a discount £7 not the price of the meal….. won’t be back there

I’ve been to Pug Uglys before and I was looking forward to coming back however, Staff were very bad. Didn’t get served my drinks for over 40 minutes. I had to go and get my drinks myself at the bar twice because they were taking that long to bring a jug of water and 7up. One waiter who was looking after us was exceptionally bad. He spilled drinks over our table. Did not come back to check if we needed anything and when we asked for something he just wouldn’t do it. He didn’t seem to be all there it was as if he was on something. I would fire him. He added nothing but disappointment to our experience here.

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."

"I'm an American. I was invited to work at the queen’s university in a global conference. my airline has moved my baggage, so I stopped in the barking dog to use her wlan to check the status of my baggage and have a drink and a snack with my associate who has unusual allergies. the menu had nothing to call us, so we have decided to finish and move only our drinks./ at no point has anyone informed that it is illegal to have only drinks, and our server ran our review without mentioning any legal requirements. After I paid, someone who I suspect, the manager, came to the table and checked our reception. exactly what I thought was what they said before they cheated on me how it is illegal to buy drinks in a restaurant without eating. I apologised and explained that I had no warning. I offered to buy food retroactive and they refused. then they repeated that I was in a restaurant and not in a pub and that my activities were illegal. they denied my multiple attempts to apologise me while I explained that I am not out of the opposite. this experience was very confusing for me, because the night before me had drinks in a restaurant without food and it was no problem. in any case I was told that there is no such law and that the ordering of drinks without eating in a restaurant is very common. I've never been treated so badly in a customer service dynamic and I'm not sure why this happened. I feel targeted and totally mistreated for what does not seem to be a good reason. To finish it, it was my birthday. complete error in the name of what this person was. I will say the rest of the staff was very pleasant and accommodating."
