"I stopped by this restaurant in the early evening for a quick bite before an event. I was not impressed with the establishment compared to other eateries in the town and other Pizza Express locations I have visited. The furniture was worn out, the decor looked faded and dated, and the flatware and cutlery appeared old and well-used. As for the prices, a glass of lukewarm white wine, a small bottle of beer, and two light pizzas cost me £45! It's no surprise the place was nearly empty. I also had concerns about the hygiene standards, as I observed a lady sitting at a table doing paperwork then handling food without washing her hands. The only positive aspect was the serving staff, who were courteous and efficient."

What a miserable waitress, pulling faces if you asked questions also pulled them when she served the kids food. Enjoyed the food but the coffee was rubbish and the range was limited no flat whites. Not impressed at all. No tip for this lot.

Had a great evening, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I do think pizzas are overpriced however I love these ones so happy to pay the price. There is a great vegan selection and the new menu is great with lots of new things to try.

Anna made our experience so good. She is so lovely with all of us and makes sure everyone has what they need. It’s very chaotic in there but she makes it pleasurable . It’s our second time there with Anna helping us and it makes all the difference when you have a patient and caring waitress.

Went in a nearby pub and walked out due to slow service. We came here and it saved the day. Really nice ambience inside. Food came quickly band was nice. Dessert could have been larger. Waitress got a bit confused at one point but second waitress was nice and efficient. Friendly guy brought the food out. Overall a nice Sunday lunch in a nice town. I don't rate the pubs nearby really so this is a good alternative.

Pizza Express in Harpenden is a great place to get delicious pizza. The staff here are always polite and efficient, making sure your drink is always topped up and your needs are met quickly. The waitress who served me had vibrant, colorful nails and provided excellent service with a smile. I would definitely return just to chat with her, but of course, the main draw is the fantastic pizza they serve. It's definitely a staple in my dining rotation.

We had a meal here last week. We hadn’t booked a table but there was no need as the restaurant was empty around 4:00 p.m. We had two young children with us. There was a high chair available for our 18 month old. The service was very slow. My husband ordered a salad and it was late coming to the table after all the hot meals had arrived. Several different types of wine weren’t available despite being on the wine list. I thought the cost for a one course meal was outrageous. The pizzas were good but very overpriced.

The restaurant has recently been redecorated and looks great from the outside. However, the inside feels cramped and dark, with terrible acoustics. It was difficult to hear each other at the table due to the noise from kids and loud music from other parts of the restaurant. The food was mediocre, with the soft egg on the pizza being hard and dry. The prices have increased to a point where there are nicer places to eat for a similar price. We are fans of Pizza Express but this may be the last time we dine there for a while.

We’ve literally just walked out of restaurant. We ordered two pizzas and two side salads in less than 5mins they arrived one cold and one undercooked. They also looked identical despite being two different pizzas. The waitress apologised and said she would get us fresh ones. Then a male, I think manager, came and said he would put them back in the oven and heat them up and make them crispier!!!! We couldn’t believe what we’d heard. We simply said we were leaving. Despite being a pizza express fan I will be complaining to head office OMG don’t go to pizza express in Harpenden.

Went to Pizza Express Harpenden tonight and the service and attitude of the waitress was terrible. Ordered a Fiorentina (v). Took ages to arrive, everyone else had almost eaten their pizza. When it did it was covered in parmesan. I pointed out that wasn't vegetarian. I was then lectured that was how it came and if I'd wanted a vegetarian pizza I should have said. And that mozzarella wasn't vegetarian either. I had a baby in my lap so didn't argue or ask to see the menu again. Wish I had as the waitress was talking utter rubbish. Both taps in ladies toilet also broken so no hand washing in there. Pretty gross for a restaurant.

"Yammin-Yummy says. ... 5 stars ... also a rarely awarded- 'beezybonus'. . . now, where do I begin to begin with such an amazingly appealing selection of freshly prepared foods that one would naturally expect that, already cooked, sitting, waiting for the next hungry expected customers. this can sometimes cook up to 10-20-50mins before they are placed in front of them. not here. freshly cooked. now this beautiful example of a traditional 'fish chip love affair, established over generations of Friday nights, was beautifully designed to tell their mouth, tonge taste panties, please attach their belts, and then it is about them an incredible arbor ride. ... one who seems to go up just as once they decided what's going in their mouth first (at least the crispy tail end) begins their incredible journey up; as their eyebrows increase during thinking, omg that 's sooo different good, light, crispy teig as I've never tasted in my 37 years since the beginning in the food industry. And then I made the mistake of dipping my squid in the homemade tartaric acid sauce. that is when the 1st massive fear happened, as I thought, oh my days; the better then mean, re-entry, deeper, actually cure my wrist action, to ensure maximum absorption of this sweet/creamy/tart/caper filled taste, as I reached for a chip to accompany, strengthen the excellent experience I thought stupid would be a 'standard thing'. Now I took care of you like this, but I have seen on my chips a few each mouthful was an experience, depending on how I stacked the fork, hahahaha. the fish was so fresh that I was looking on my teller sand. ... to dedicate a joy to each chip. ... the muddy heaps, normally warmed, not microshaft to a mass-hotter-then-the-sun, went a tasty bite, and quickly also, for once. the lemon shattered haddock had to be tied to the plate, because this teig was so light that it almost raised to the deck. but as soon as this handmade tasty tartaric acid sauce meets, any responsible 'handler-of-the-fork', wants to make sure that its only trajectory can be swallowed in their waiting swallow. It was so good, I couldn't stand to leave a single diesel and with this tartaric acid sauce, which even made a bulky chip, was nothing left, I was ashamed to ask the cook the recipe for 'this sauce', as he made such a light oil-free beautiful teig. the staff is very attentive, courteous, with a beautiful large sitting area also. get yourself here quickly bungalows to make an ordinary experience, in an excellent exciting eating expedition into a court that we all know so well, but so different. ... enjoy."
